Ram is 35-8 after missing one game last week. Raceland playing at Russell will be the game of the week in the area, this will be the end of the recently renewed series. Should be a great atmosphere. The other games in the area are less then appealing from a fan standpoint. Some close games may happen. Who wins those? Read on.

Ram'sNotebook will look at match-ups for the North-Eastern Kentucky area, which includes the following teams: Ashland, Boyd County, East Carter, Fairview, Greenup County, Lawrence County, Lewis County, Raceland, Russell, and West Carter.

 

Raceland (7-2) at Russell (6-3)

Game of the week in North-Eastern Kentucky. The Raceland/Russell Game was a big event for many years, then was suspended for 25 years. The series was rekindled six years ago with much anticipation. The game was titled “The Rail City Bowl” because of both community’s reliance on the Rail Industry. Russell won the first of the modern match-ups with Raceland winning the last five years. Russell has declined to renew the contract for this game to continue, so this will be the last game in the series, for at least a while, maybe 25 years. Raceland comes into this game averaging almost 50 points a game, and only allowing 16 points per game. Russell’s offense has not been as productive and the defense has allowed quite a few points. Raceland ends the series with six wins in a row.

Greenup County (0-9) vs. Letcher County Central (1-8)

Neither Greenup County nor Letcher County Central are having the type of seasons they wanted or hoped for. Greenup County will be trying to put a stop to one of the states longest loosing streaks after going 0 for 2011 and in danger of going 0 for 2012. Letcher County Central has tasted victory and will try to end the regular season on an up note. Greenup continues the skid.

Boyd County (5-4) vs. West Carter (0-9)

Boyd County will finish the regular season at .500. West Carter will go winless in 2012. The Lions are having a much improved season and will be looking to build upon that success for 2013. Hopefully the Comets can right the ship and make a big turnaround next season.

Fairview (9-0) at Powell County (2-7)

Fairview proves to much for Powell County. The Eagles will finish the regular season 10-0. I look for Fairview to rest some dinged up players, so the score may not be what some expect, but Fairview rolls.

East Carter (1-8) vs. Morgan County (8-1)

East Carter will have to be happy with a one win season. Morgan County is on a mission this year and doing well in accomplishing just what they have set out to do. Morgan County will leave Grayson with their ninth win.

 

East Carter 21 Morgan County 42

Lewis County (3-6) vs. Magoffin County (4-5)

A bit of a difficult game to pick, both teams appear to be very similar in ability and the quality of schedule are very similar. Magoffin has played some good teams close, but won over some less then great teams. Lewis County has had like success. I think Lewis gets the win at home.
