gold sunrise
The Cardinals avenged an earlier season loss to the Colonels with a 3-1 triumph at Cardinal Field. The Cardinals broke a 1-1 deadlock with a run in the bottom of the third and tacked on another score in the fourth to hold off the Colonels. Bourbon County ace Chase Mullins threw a one-hitter and struckout 10, while walking six. Clark’s Wes Lawwill collected the Cards’ lone hit of the contest with an RBI double in the second inning. Clark’s top pitcher Derek McKenzie scattered seven hits and fanned three hitters. Bourbon stranded six batters, while Clark left four runners on base. Clark improved to 13-11 overall and 4-1 in the 40th District. The Colonels dropped to 17-3 overall and 5-1 against district foes. The Cardinals are scheduled to compete in the Tanner Dodge Classic this weekend in Stanton. http://www.centralkynews.com/winchestersun/sports/ws-prep-roundup-cards-lady-cards-split-with-bourbon-county-20120504,0,2299417.story
Kentucky Baseball Source
Chase Mullins is all that Bourbon County has. Clark is a very talented team and showed they can beat him. Bourbon may win the District but don't count out Montgomery County which has 3 of the top players in the Region in Thomas,Lee and Newkirk.
