  1. Seems like a lot of moaning over something as little as new basketballs. If I'm the coach, I just suck it up and purchase as many basketballs as I could afford. There are plenty of events that offer travel stipends. Go to one and buy some more basketballs. Run camps, do a car wash, host a golf outing. As a coach, you find a way. I will say this though. There is a tremendous difference in the feel of a Spalding Classic and the Rawlings ball. It's not as padded and feels heavier in the hands. I even think it feels smaller.
  2. I would. But that's why you do fundraising. Basketballs cost roughly $45 per basketball (this is what vendors would give us). You can get 10 basketballs for $450. That's a car wash. Simple.
  3. We used Spalding basketballs when I was in Florida. The ball doesn't have that padded feel the Rawlings currently offers. I prefer the Spalding ball over all the other basketballs. Schools can use whatever basketball they want in the regular season. Schools hosting districts and regional tournaments get basketballs paid for out of the gate money for the tournament.

  7. Never thought I'd have to defend my team on a message board. We are not afraid to play anyone and I think I've scheduled that way. I was told to ask if they could move it to Friday, due to Possible bad weather, and do a boy/girl doubleheader. Waiting to hear from Coach L about this possibility. Hopefully it will happen. Don't speak until you know facts.
  8. Should be Walton Verona Bearcats not Wildcats! Sorry, don't know how to edit post!
  9. Friday, December 5 6:00pm Boone County v. Walton Verona Game features two versatile guards in Senior Brenden Stanley (Preseason #3 Ranked Player in 9th Region) and Junior Kyle Kinmon. Boone County is looking to return to the 9th Region Tournament and has the pieces to do just that with three returning starters from a year ago. Walton Verona is quickly turning their program around in the 8th Region under the direction of several players returning from a year ago and in the 2nd year under coach Grant Brannen the Wildcats will be a tough matchup for anyone. 8:00pm Grant County v. Louisville Male Male comes into the game with two very good forwards in Senior Will Parker (Preseason #4 Ranked Player in 7th Region and has Offers from Southern Indiana, Bellarmine, and Kentucky Wesleyan) and Junior Alex Cook (offer from Bellarmine). The Bulldogs Senior guard Brandon Horne is also a very versatile player and is being recruited by Walsh (IN), and Lindsey Wilson. Grant County has a dynamic guard duo in Seniors Seth Adkins (Preseason #8 Ranked Player in 8th Region) and Austin Johnson. The Braves also have an athletic wing in Senior forward Jordan Saylor (Preseason #10 Ranked Player in 8th Region). Grant County returns 4 starters from last season's team that finished with a district championship. Saturday, December 6 5:30pm Conner v. Lawrence County Cougars are led by two starting guards Nick Watts and Michael Scott. Watts is an outstanding athlete who can finish above the rim. Lawrence County returns 5 starters from a year ago who all averaged at least 8.8 points per game. This should be a very up-tempo and exciting game. 7:30pm Grant County v. Cincinnati College Prep Academy The Lions come in with a versatile and athletic team. Very balanced and quick. With the Lions and Braves looking to push the temp, this game could be very high scoring.
