There are strict weight loss guidelines these days. Wrestlers are not permitted to lose more weight than their body can stand. In fact, wrestlers are evaluated at he beginning of the season and weight loss is monitored each week. Most weight lost is usually due to the intense workouts, not from starvation.
And yes, it does help a football program. I have seen and experienced first hand results.
It's a wonderful sport with plenty of college scholarships available for good wrestlers.:thumb:
