  1. It was strange, as our game with X wore on, I couldn't help but notice some of the teams/fans not playing at the time were standing aroung the outside of the fence in the endzone and actually cheering for us to beat X.

Like you said, take 7 on 7's for what they are worth, we were 2-1 vs. 6-A teams, so I'd say we held our own.

Well the T fans did not have much to do that day!

Let's hope X can have a winning record.

  2. JR

Settembre and Golemboski have not pitch due to arm problems (Zack has a rotator cuff issue and Joe has a elbow issue). This will be a real issue if these guys can not return to the pitching rotation. However, Clooney (not listed on the roster), Spauding and Loehert have pitch at the varsity level and should provide some needed support to the team. IMO I do not see how they can keep Clooney off the roster. His fastball is very good (upper 80's) with a number of other pitches. In addition, the pitching staff will get some additional support from others like Schmeing, Rizenberg, Remmers and Deuser.

    X wins opener.

  3. This may sound like sandbagging, but X at #4 is based purely on what they accomplished last year and not on what they have returning. Just in Metro Louisville I would rank Bullit East, PRP, Eastern, Manual and Trinity ahead of them. X lost 6 position starters and the top three pitchers off last year's squad. I'll be happy if they make it out of district.

NO YOU ARE NOT SANDBAGGING AND I think you assessment is correct. I agree that X is overrated in this poll and making it out of the district will not be easy. X has only two returning starters and based on early returns this team will be very young with only 4 senior starters.

  4. Congratulations to Coach Ron Ferch and the Rockets.

Everyone close to the SHA program knows the value that Ron brought to their 3 year state championship run. QUOTE]

He carried Crystal's gym bag, right?

Carly didn't win without Crystal and Crystal did not win without Carly.

Seriously, I'm sure Mrs. Moir will have her girls inspired for this one.

Mr. Evans did have some illnesses to deal with and his team wasn't at full strength the past month. The Jags had a decent season.

Mr. Ferch does have the Rockets playing surprisingly well. I understand the best CSAA girl is casting her lot with the Rockets next season.

I understand...the Mercy loss was due to the fact that Mercy had illnesses to deal with and not the fact that Assumption played better? Right:confused:

Carrying Crystall bag was the start of all the smart things he did at Heart. Seriously :thumb:

  5. Congratulations to Coach Ron Ferch and the Rockets. Friday's match up with Sacred Heard will be difficult for Coach Ferch having to face his former team Sacred Heart and Coach Donna Moir.

Everyone close to the SHA program knows the value that Ron brought to their 3 year state championship run. All that will go out the window though as soon as the ball is tossed up. These two competitive coaches will have their teams ready! Good luck to all!

Should be a great game. :thumb:

Who is more competitive Ferch or Moir?

  6. Difficult draw for Assumption...they win their district only to face district runner-up Mercy in the opening round.[/QUOTE]

Mercy would be a difficult draw for any team. The CJ indicated that these first round games would not be very competitive for the "Fantastic Four"(Heart, Mercy, Cal and Manual).

  7. I always felt that Wags was a great RB coach, and he has had a ton of great RB's in the past, but him leaving could allow someone who is perhaps a better QB coach to come in. They will miss his fire on the sidelines though.

I could not agree more! Some people close to the program would say he could have been a great QB coach if he had more input regarding certain matters.

I know based on what I the kids are discussing that they will miss him.

  8. Word is that the three are Jim wagoner (with son coming in and others at home), Rick Sorrells , who returned with Wagoner afew years ago, and his good friend, and Walter Martin who primarily worked in the weight room. Walter has a law degree, is recently marries and expecting a child, and is going to return to practicing law.

All great men and coaches that will be missed.

  9. Ballard should be much improved (20+). LexCath is better than many local teams, but still will lose by by more than 40. Cincy X will be formidable (pick 'em). Male is not the Male of old, 30 point spread. Central will challenge for a quarter and become a 30 point spread as well. Trinity is Trinity (+ or - 10). Butler and PRP are district games you must play, both 60+ victories. Manual remains the Manual of old and will not offer you a challenge (50+). CovCath has fallen on difficult times (40+). So 10-0, 9-1 or 8-2 at the worst for the Tiger faithful heading into the playoffs. Currently, Trinity and St. Xavier could meet in the final in Bowling Green. But that is subject to change according to a KHSAA official.

With all the coaching changes and new personnel will be more like 7-3 or 6-4. :isurrender:

  10. The Ladies from CAL played a great game last night. They showed great range and accuracy in shooting the three pointers. Furthermore, they played great defense on the lady Rockets.

For their Fantastic play last night the Lady Rockets were rewarded with practice this morning. Saturday is generally their one day off a week. Early returns indicate the practice will be long and will involve a lot of defense, shooting and running.

  11. Wish SHA could have pulled this one out. Was at the JV game (which was very exciting even if the refs were awful) but had to leave in2nd quarter of varsity game. Family member called and said SHA played awful the remainder of the game.

But maybe it was that AHS that played well? Good win for the new Coach.

Both teams played very hard and both the JV and varsity games were great to watch. :ylsuper:

  12. Assumption did lose a very vital player this season, during the 1st Mercy game. Sarah Rogers, DS tore her ACL in the game, and she was a very strong leader with this team. They really weren't the same after that, IMO.

I agree (that Sarah was vital) but all teams lose players. However, this team and coaching staff never realized it's potential and never played with the determination that was so important to the success of past Assumption teams.

I think rankings are meaningless and winning is what counts so congratulation to Mercy on a great season!:thumb:

  13. I think Mercy had a little something to do with that performance too. It wasn't a fluke, and it was the 2nd time they beat them this year. And Mercy started off really bad I thought, certainly not their best possible performance. They did that in Florida.

I agree that Mercy had something to do with that loss BUT Assumption's performance was the poorest I have seen in years by an Assumption team and if they had played that way on Saturday ND could have won the match. However, Assumption played well. Mercy may be the best team in the state only time will tell.

  14. Wake up, St. X does not care if you can pass better, If that was so, the QB on the varsity would be different, and that would not be either QB's they now have The best passing QB from the Jr class is not playing QB but another position. If you can not run with the ball, you will be moved to another position. Passing skills do not enter into the decision.

Who is the best passing QB not playing QB?

Matt Brutscher for sure and Briam Buehner have great passing skill.

I was impressed with both Luke and Ryan in the game on Monday. As well as play by the O-line. Enjoy watching 41 and 2 for X run the ball. As for defense great hits by 98, 35 and 27 (loved the one on X sidelines). In addtion, 48 with 3 sacks played well for the D line as well as 19 and 23.

    Great game by both teams.

  15. I'm assuming he's referring to the practice some parents ascribe to of not entering boys into kindergarten until they are 6 instead of 5. I coached for a few years back in the mid-80's at the 7th & 8th level &, as a general rule, the boys that had started school a year later than their counterparts were at a distinct advantage physically.

So is R4 saying the Juniors that play for T are more like Seniors?
