  1. I think you need to look at the players mentioned and re-evaluate this statement. The Johnson Brothers and Pittman of Holmes led them to the state championship along side Arrez Henderson and all 3 started in the state championship game. Johnson and Pittman both averaged double figures in the state tournament and Pittman did it while coming off the bench.

Guyn, Euton, and Jackson have all 3 proved themselves against tough competition both in high school and AAU.

Guyn goes to Scott Co. 6'3 guard who is already getting D1 looks. I wouldn't say Pittman has an attitude problem, but is a very "confident/cocky" player who plays with a lot of emotion which isn't a bad thing some times. He is still somewhat immature so it will get better with age.

The Johnson brothers both handle themselves very well both on the court and off. Very respectable and show class at all times. They seem very mature for only being 15/16 yr old kids.

The Johnson brothers are role models at Holmes. I Garuntee plenty of peolpe look up to them on and of the court.

  2. Some of these players haven't proven anything yet but still get a lot of hype. Why?

Jackson and Euton have both proven theirselves in the AAU circuit, and the Johnson brothers took their team to state along with Arrez Henderson. Sewell really hasn's proven himself, I think going to a big school like Trinity, he will prove himself nixt year

  3. Very, very true in everything you said. I was just referring to their ability to create matchup problems for opponents. I think the main differential between the two was Rice's go-get-it attitude. In a close game Rice kept the same attitude. Keyvon is a tough competitor but he does start not to care once he's losing by so much. IMO I think K will be an overall better player than Rice.

  4. This 2011 class is loaded. It will be interesting who will advance on to be Mr. Basketball that year. From the looks of that class now, there will be several Major D I players.

I'm not too familiar with the 2011 class outside of Northern Kentucky, but personally I think the 2010 class is a little stronger. With players like Euton, Jackson, the Johnson brothers, Sewell. It's tough to amount to that.

  5. The team camp at Georgetown is excellent. I went down as a freshman and sophomore. It's a weekend camp with a tournament at the end. YOu get about 8 games until the tournament. You stay on campus where you eat at the school cafeteria, and pretty much go around ant see what Georgetown is all about. The players ref the games and host a scrimmage once a weekend that you can watch. The players can also go around and meet players from other schools all bordering states. I'ts a great way to really bring the team together.

  6. K is just a huge match up problem for any teams in the Northern Kentucky area. At his size he can post up on a guard and drag a big man out on the perimeter. He's just so raw it's hard to tell what he will be like in the future. He's a pretty predictable player considering he uses his strong hand (left) 90 percent of the time and using the same moves on offense constantly. I think once he is a junior/senior Henley will have alot more one on one time to work with him. He has a great scoring mentality and if he gets stronger could have a great career. In the past weekend at a 17u aau tournament he averaged about 13-15 points a game, I'd say that's performing above his age level.

  7. yeah but Jaydale is also pretty athletic dunking at his size. But his brother is a nice player, he has a decent jumber and plays great defense. His ball handling is probably the worst aspect of his game. If Henley can work with him and get him in the weight room I could see him being a great post player that Holmes has lacked the past few years.

  8. Arnold is a sophomore to be. I'm referring to a kid who played as an 8th grader last year. He was around 6'5 and I saw him against Highlands Middle School and was pretty impressed with him.

I already know about Arnold. Very talented kid for only being a freshman this past year. Would have seen more of him but he injured his foot toward the end of the season and was in a boot.

You could be referring to Herdon. He is a freshman to be. Not sure of his first name, I think its Zion or Ziere, something like that. He is the younger brother of Jaydale Herndon who played JV for Holmes this past year.

  9. John Roberts from Conner. Played shortstop for the JV team this year and started 2-3 games for Varsity. He will most likely lead off and play short stop for the cougars next year.

Actually Gill will have the starting job next year as he has had for the past two.

  10. Not too sure of his name but I believe Holmes has a 6'5-6'6 freshman to be who was pretty impressive against Highlands this year. Maybe one of the Holmes posters can help me out with his name and a little info on him?

Kavon Arnold is about 6'4 6'5. He's tall and lengthy, he can spot up on a big man or post up an undersized guard. the future of nky basketball.

  11. He has improved a lot, and will continue to do so. He is playing on a select team with several JV/Varsity players (mostly from Holmes/Boone) which has helped him tremendously. It's one thing to be able to play with kids your own age, but it's something different to play with/against kids with Varsity experience. He is also getting some individual workouts in and when summer gets here he will increase that. Probably the best thing about him is that he is a great kid.

I agree I've been playing with him all summer and I think if his work ethic continues to improve he'll be a nice addition for Boone. I also think the intimidation factor is kind of scaring him playing with the older kids this summer, but all in all it will only help.
