  1. Not sure I'd put Highlands 2nd just yet. I think Campbell is maybe a little high and I have a feeling Ryle is going to be much higher than 8th when it's all said and done.

    Fun stuff for discussion though.

I think this is a pretty good list. I think I would put Sk at #3 followed by dixie and then campbell at #5. Although it could be a toss up. I know SK loses alot of talent and leadership, but they return a stout O-line as well as a very good RB. Then again dixie will have an impact playmaker in Drew Moore at the most important position in football.

  2. I don't understand why there is always a debate between SK and HHS. why stir the pot, when the pot is empty? As for the 2014 season, I am intrigued to see what HHS does differently with a new coach. Have we heard anything on who is going to be running the offense? I've heard rumblings that Hoge is the favorite to take over the helm, but hergott shouldn't be overlooked.

  3. Both teams played very well. SO was extremly fast i thought and they played with a ton of heart. With that being said, I do think Sk really shot themselves in the foot in OT. Up by two with under a minute left you have to run a play within 30 seconds or a turnover is bound to happen. Thats just how high school ball is. i thought the player who committed the turnover that lead to the score that tied the game was very careless with the ball. Sk shot themselves in the foot, but thats why they call it march madness. All the luck to SO, hopefully they advance in the tournament.

  4. Any new kids playing for SK this year?

I think that some of the kids from the freshmen team will be able to step up. Kincaid,Book,Carter, as well as Dylan Hampton. Hampton was an absolute monster last year. It will be exciting to see what they can do with that kid.

  5. With weather like we've had this season, what schools aren't close to the 36 game limit? I'm sure there are some in NKY, just don't feel like pulling it up.

I can understand very small schools with very limited rosters playing a shortened schedule, but would guess that would only include Silver Grove, Calvary, Villa and maybe Dayton. And, Heritage if they had a squad.

    Even Villa played 31 games...

  6. :thumb:

I'm sure that we are not the only ones to have a similar policy in place.

Applicants have to understand that they may not receive an interview. Normally, if a school receives a couple dozen applications, only a few are granted interviews.

I do not know if we did or did not conduct any interviews.

What I do hope is that all applicants receive a formal letter from our administration thanking them for their interest in our job.

  7. "Coach Verst was chosen from a list of 15 applicants including current Head Coaches, assistant coaches and former College Assistant Coaches"

Don't know if that is a fair statement. I know for a FACT... that a few current head coaches that applied didnt so much get a interview of any kind. Must of been the guy they really wanted, becuase without interviewing some of these guys do they really know what was out there?

  9. Tough loss, Elkus is a very good man and I think a savvy basketball coach. I know he had some awesome years as the AD and basketball coach at SVMS. He had some injuries and young kids in the Dixie program. I wish they would gave him some more time. Kind of surprised Whillhoite would be so quick making this move in his 1st year as AD. Elkus has a lot of years in the Kenton County School District and this is Whillhoite’s 1st year in the district and he did not last long at Cooper. I am guessing he had the administration’s backing. Also is Elkus still the assistant AD? If so why did he not move into the head AD slot last year? Either way good luck to Dixie’s girls and Mr. Elkus.

  10. First round of the 34th district tournament. Close game throughout 6-6 in the 6th before Lloyd gathered 2 to take a 8-6 lead. Strong hitting by the Jugs. Villa for being young were pretty scrappy and gave them a run for their money. Good luck to the Jugs as they play Dixie tomorrow.

  11. I understand some of your arguments. The only thing that I have a problem with is doing in front for everyone to see and embarassing young kids. There are ways to get your point across and doing it infront for everyone to see is not one of them. The program is fairly new which means, they have younger kids playing up that may be outmatched. The information that I received from a parent that it all started because they were losing.

His kids were not outmatched Saturday. They were playing a Villa team that only had 14 players total in the program and 9 are freshman.

  12. I have heard that the administration and Whilhoite did not see eye to eye anybody have further info. Whilhoite has coached and taught in the a boone county system for about 15 years. Strange that you would spend that amount of time in 1 district get the AD job at a new school and leave after 2 years.
