  1. As already stated, the score isn't reflective of how this game went.

Dixie jumped out to a 13-0 lead but Holmes answered right back with 2 td's. Both teams had extra points blocked after one of the td's.

Dixie would go back up 20-13 and then 26-13 after another missed PAT, and head in to the locker room up 26-13 at the half.

Second half Holmes got the ball and drove all the way to the Dixie 1 but couldn't punch it in as they were stuffed on a 4th and goal attempt. Dixie doesn't do anything their next drive and Holmes pulls to within 26-20 at the 1:34 mark of the third quarter after a Jensen 15 yard td run. If Holmes scores on their previous drive, we're looking at a tied game or Holmes up 1 heading in to the 4th quarter.

Dixie would score on their next possession and head in to the 4th up 33-20, rather than tied or down 1. Colonels tacked on two more td's late in the 4th (first at the 5:58 mark, second at the 3:03 mark) and win the game 47-20.

Difference in the game was Dixie's size and physical play on both lines. Holmes also killed themselves with costly penalties and mental mistakes during crucial moments.

Looking at the stats, you'll see this was much closer than the score might indicate. Dixie simply capitalized on Holmes' mistakes and turned them in to points.

Late in the game the Colonels were able to control the clock with Bruns, Pike (short distance runs), and Justice on the ground. BTW, Justice is a flat out stud for a sophomore.

    Thanks for the details.

  2. Highlands isn't doing so bad either. One of my favorite sights when the varsity Birds make the 6 mile trek from Ft. Thomas to Park Hills is when the chartered bus fleet (which look like something Taylor Swift would travel in, if she hit the Powerball) rolls into the lot and park next CCH's Old Blue (which looks a mode of transportation you might see in Jakaroughtta). I think it is safe to say that both programs are blessed with generous community support.

From what I hear is that Dale went to one of the local junk yards to buy a blue bus but CovCath and NewCath bought the last ones.....:D:D

  3. SK finished with 83 yards rushing. Crane had 30 yards, Lawrence had 37 yards and Baldwin had 16 yards the run game is making progress. Lawrence stayed in the pocket most the game he could have finished well over 100 yards if he took off. Lawrenced passed 15 for 25 173 yards 3 TDs sorry I thought he threw 4 but one was a run.

Is this the kid that started at Simon and then went to Beechwood last year?

  4. Lets see where gas prices go in the next few days. I bet they take a nose dive below $2.50 a gallon. Totally all for new oil and gas drilling to make us independent from the Middle East. Since Obama is going to allow this to happen will he allow more refineries to be built?

  5. Pity the poor HHS kids/parent's who play/cheer for the HHS Basketball teams who had to be crushed this week in losing, then reading this thread, where some HHS fans are actually giddy about being able to start Spring Football almost a full three weeks prior to the start of Spring because their classmates/friends lost!

Yes I am a CovCath fan but indeed this is sad to read and I wonder how the kids and parents of the Basketball team feel to hear some being so happy about Football being able to start so soon?

No need to keep telling us.......
