  1. It has amazed me for years how UK has overlooked local talent. It remains to be seen Billy G's approach, but Tubby was something of a mystery. I agree that Taylor Stewart would be a terrific catch. I've watched this kid for five years now and I see dramatic improvement in every phase of his game, plus he's got nice size and is a great student. He doesn't fit the mold of a "McDonalds All American" who stars in national dunk contests, but he's a heck of a good bball player. I'll be interested to see if Billy G does look at him.

He can't be looked at, he has signed his national letter of intent with Air Force. He's "off the market".

  2. Catholic looks primed to make a run at another sweet 16, if they can get by Dunbar. Scott County was very young this year and rebuilding. They will be tough again next year.

I wouldn't automatically assume Catholic must "get by Dunbar". Dunbar has to get past Henry Clay first. Henry Clay has been up and down, but right now seems to be coming out of nowhere to be playing very well.

  3. My vote for the top program in the state based on two factors:

    1. I have been following KY high school basketball since 95 so the team I pick will obviously have to have done well from 95-present.

    2. I also want to give some credit to past hisory so I will also look at performace before 95 even though I am heavily weighing performance after 95.

Okay that being said in my opinion I am going to go with the Ballard Bruins. They have made four sweet 16's since 95 including one title and two 2nd place finishes. Also they won titles in 77 and 88 and finished 2nd in 87. They produced a solid NBA player in Allan Houston. Also they have made 12 trips to the state tournament while playing in the brutal 7th region.

So that is my pick, Ballard.

Don't forget Jeff Lamp, Lee Raker and Jerry Eaves in 1977. Their whole starting 5 went D1 plus had future NBA players. Jeff Lamp was a first team McDonald's All American and played in the NBA. That team was unbelievable.

  4. Kudos to Novosel for kicking the ball out to Sanford with 11 second to go in regulation. Novosel was open, yet, he saw Sanford was ready and kicked the ball out to him. And Sanford nailed it for the 3. Which is what they needed to tie the game. Smart decision by Novosel under pressure to make the team play instead of taking it to the hoop himself.

He does alot of little things well. He should also get more touches as others have indicated. It seems alot of teams are having trouble getting the ball into the low post. Not unique in high school, but UK should be getting it to Patterson more as well.

  5. I think the actual score was 75-66 as ds east team had a solid win over a talented San Francisco team. Everyone contributed to the win, Clark Stepp led us in scoring, Jordan Smart hit some big shots early to get us going, Matt Thomas, Nathan Novosel, Richie Phares , Landon Slone, and Leonard Macon

were at or in double figures, Phares and Macon both had double digit rebounds. DS East plays St Louis Gateway tomorrow morning who beat Team Oklahoma earlier. Had about 30 colleges watching the game.

DS 16u team had a blowout game and are getting ready to play a tough team from Memphis. Will be a tough game without the Faulkners and Mcfarland, but the 16u team is playing very well, coming off a runnerup finish

    in the Morgantown Jamfest

Which colleges are showing the most interest in your players? That's alot to be watching your team.

  6. Chantelle Presley - Dunbar

Pilar Walker - Dunbar - MVP

    Chelse Johnson - Dunbar

    Gwen Rucker - Henry Clay

    Brittany Coles - Henry Clay

    Annalee Abell - Henry Clay

Whitney Belle Jackson - Clay County

    Gemma Gray - Clay County

    Maggie Prewitt - Montgomery County

    MacKenzie Lee - Montgomery County

    Anna Martin - Lexington Christian

    Courtney Clifton - Lexington Christian
