Billy Ray Fawns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enough said.

And what happens when one of these starters gets hurt. Its one thing if its a close game but when you are already up 30 its a shame.. cause it could have been prevented.
If you play scared that's when someone gets hurt! No prisoners!

But you don't need three starters in the game when your team is up 40 points heading into the final quarter. They got their point across in the third quarter and they didn't gain anything by keeping some of those kids in during the final quarter. That says a lot for their coach!
You're exactly right it does say a lot for Montgomery's coach who is smart enough to play kids, who sat out much of the first half, and work on his press in the third and play them in the fourth quarter to prepare them for the next game. There is no substitute for the intensity and conditioning in a real game situation (no matter how much you're up). You can practice and prepare but game experience is essential to the maturation process of a player. Even this time of the year! With Montgomery having a 12 day stretch without games they need all the game conditioning they can.
Coach Griesser was not trying to prove a point, if he wanted to do that he would have beaten Paris by 80 (and it could have been done), he was trying to prepare his team the best way he knows how for the tough road ahead of them. And to be honest I think he knows how with his resume boasting a National Championship at Georgetown College and a State Championship at Scott County. :flame:

It's tournament time people...teams are looking to get better and improve for the remainder of the post season. I don't think Montgomery County wanted to waste a night to improve their gameplan for Clark County on Friday night.

This was a wild game and I think both teams have benefited from the post season atmosphere. Although things did get a little out of hand this is the toughness it will take for the Indians to compete for the 10th region title and the Flyers to compete in the always tough 11th.

Seeing them at Beach Ball Classic and then following their games in the Florida tournament and then seeing them in person against Mason Co.
Their guard, #14 Guyn, is very erratic at times. There are times down the court when he looks amazing and other times when he is completely out of control.
If he tries to do too much, he could end up costing his team in the 11th region tournament or Rupp if they got that far. BUT if he plays within himself and the way he is capable, they could continue to win and go deep in the tournament.
This is the determining factor as to whether the Cardinals make it to Rupp. Don't see it happening, Guyn is not Bud Mackey nor will he ever be no matter how much the Cardinal contingent thinks he will be. He needs to learn to play within himself to HELP his team, all he is doing now is HURTING them. Reference Bryan Station game. Hope the Cardinals can get it together, however, an aggressive press will give them fits come tournament time due to shotty guard play.

1. Lexington Catholic
2. Scott County
3. Bryan Station
4. Tates Creek
5. Henry Clay
6. Dunbar
7. LCA
8. Franklin County
9. Madison Central
10. Lafayette
11. Western Hills
12. Woodford County
13. Madison Southern
14. Berea
15. Model
16. Sayre
17. Frankfort
Have you all lost your minds? Bryan Station is running through everyone including the number 2 team at their place by 15 which could have been 25 if they didn't put their second group in. Mack is the real deal. BS is clear cut #1.

Well considering both times we either had a lead late or were tied i don't think that that means your team is better, more experienced but not better. The Camels only have 4 seniors on the team one of which doen't play at all. With the exception of Rash, Who is top 2 or 3 in the state, I dont believe you have a defensive player that is anywhere near Nerl. CC forced MC to play their style of basketball which is slow and low scoring. When I watch a game and see that a team can alter the other teams playing style that much I would have to say that they are the better team. We have a team of supurbly talented athletes who could excell at any sport. This team is just more talented overall than Montgomery. When we play tates creek on the 1/19 we'll see if we can beat a team that you have lost to. Also we play Mason on 1/15. Maybe you should make the trip and see if they give them a game. I'll save you a seat.
You know as well as I do that the comparison of one team and their oppenents with another does not justify the better team. Take a look at your record versus Montgomery's 0-2.
PERIOD.

Its unfortunite that players have been taught that its O.K. to push or pull on an opponents jersey as long as their not caught. Like so many other instances in sports, as long as the finale result is victory its fine. Lets call an ace an ace. If a player does something he knows is againts the rules on purpose then isn't he cheating ? Stewie believes sportsmanship is a lot more than shaking hands after the game. What ever happen to playing fair. You don't get to pick and chose when your going to be a honorable person. Its called ethics and it should be practiced on and off the field of play.Come on Coaches. Its a lot more than wins and losses. My Sunday sermon is over.
In reference to your thoughts on being taught to it being ok to push and pull and not get caught and how coaches teach these tactics I don't think you need to cop out behind "in general" if you want to call a "Spade a Spade" then you need to call Montgomery's coaches bush league. My son plays for the Indians and I have witnessed countless practices and never once have I heard the coaches, who by the way are a group of great character guys, tell their players to play dirty. There are occasions that the players will show their tails but this is up to the referee's to handle with coaches to address it after the action. The coaches can not control the players actions just as they can't make shots for them. They can warn them and discipline them but the players actions are on them.
Why in the world do we play sports? For the competition...It's been around for ever. The world is about winning. It teaches the athletes real world applications, the world is not going to say it's okay you don't get the job let's all just be happy and smile because we're unemployed, living on the streets, and can't feed ourselves. You're a tax payer aren't you? Congrats your philosophy is creating those people on welfare you pay for. Keep it up!

I agree Tates Creek is better they are a really talented team with at least two legit D-1 prospects.
I know Michael Sparks is attending VMI next year but who is the other one? Spalding? Very unlikely due to his size...NAIA at best.
TC gets beat to death in the 11th this year by teams like...Lexington Catholic, Scott County, Henry Clay, Madison Central, and possibly LCA or dunbar. The only way they hung tough with Mason County was because Sparks went for 44 that night...not going to happen every night.
MC needs to grow up and win those games. I question the toughness not the talent of Montgomery County.....TC was not the better team...MC just made them look that way.
No respect from me till they beat the Tates Creeks, Hazards, and other good teams...Madison Central is on the schedule I will be interested to see this one.

I believe they have something like 7 games at home. They will be road tested...we must all remember the season is long and hard and those that rise to the top now are ussually the ones that taper off in the end of the season. Continuous improvement right Waterboy?
-
Yes, he is an INDIAN. Although he might be exactly what the young Clark County needs. Glad he's here in Montgomery!

Jordan Stephens is finally playing up to his potential. The past two games he has posted double doubles. If he will play with the same enthusiasm he has the last two games the Cardinals can be a contender come March. I would like to see one player for the Indians step up and lead. Seems to be what they are lacking. Leadership...
-
Montgomery County couldn't keep TC's guards out of the lane. MC needs to be able to beat teams like Tates Creek in order to gain respect. Many see the Clark County win as a huge win...although it is a district game and a rival MC shouldn't have a false sense of hope...Clark is simply mediocre this year due to the young team they have.
I think MC has the talent to win the big games...Are the players going to be tough enough in big games to hold on? The season still has a long way to go...I hope MC can win the big games in the future.
-
Big win for the Tribe ON THE ROAD!
Clark with 16 points and 4 boards
Stephens 15 points and 14 boards
Cody Curtis 11 points
Montgomery Co. was 14 for 29 from the Free Throw line - that will come back to haunt them if it doesn't improve.Brandon Rash did a nice job defending AND running the point when Stull was in foul trouble.
MC won the battle of the boards too. The stat sheet I saw was 38-29 in total rebounds.
Congrats to the Indians - 2-0 in district play, 3-1 overall.
Very True...they will never beat the Royals shooting like that. Rule of thumb, teams need to shoot 70% or better to be considered a good FT shooting team.
-
I see a young Clark County team with a talented core of guard play. I also see a Montgomery County group with upper class play and an up-tempo style of ball this year.
This should be a heated battle...what are everyone's thoughts? :fire:
-
The guard from Bell County is very talented...he is very aggressive on offense. Who is #33? Looks like a football player but guarded the ball a lot from what I saw vs. Bath County.
-
Griesser was rocking the pin stripes, looking very dapper from where I was sitting! I believe one of the guys on the bench was Billy Ray Fawns...he was also looking particularly sharp!
Looking at the bench it looked like Hundley was the smallest of coaching staff, that coaching staff could take any staff in the state 4 on 4 :fight:
Lets give Griesser a couple of more games before we revisit the best dressed pole...I think he'll move up! :ylsuper:
-
What does the bench look like for Hazard? I know they have a lot of size in the middle with #35 (not sure name) and Campbell as well as good guard play but what kind of supporting cast do they have?
-
I'm interested to hear what thoughts people have on this game.
-
They play Hazard Saturday, 5:30 @ Knott County Central. These two teams seem to have good matchups. Should be an exciting one to watch!
-
Montgomery came out with great energy tonight! Once they get used to the new system I could really see this team flourishing. It was extremely fun to sit back and watch the swarming defense and relentless pressure.
I hope to see this same intensity when they play Clark and Mason County.

I think any players that read this board should take this as a lesson. Playing selfish and worrying about #1 only will get you no where. Great players only accomplish something if they're team accomplishes something. You can take that 3000 points, 1000 assists and toss them in the garbage b/c they mean nothing without showing them off at Rupp. This may be the reason Stepp hasn't gotten a look from bigger d-1's if any. Selfishness is learned and enabled.
