I don't know if South Oldham was exposed as much as it was a by-product of youth. I think Simon will be better than people think. Their system is outstanding. Anderson County doesn't have a point guard. Brown actually brought it up a few times. The more I look at it, the more I'm convinced WV could win the district. All in all, the difference between #1 and #7 is very thin.
I agree Lt. Dan. South Oldham wasn't really exposed by Anderson more like a lack of experience. You bring up another good point: who will be the point at Anderson next year. Cann is definitely a good young player but she is not a point, will one of the other young guards take over at PG?

I just don't see anyone beating Elliott County.
I believe that Anderson will give them a tough match up in the first game.

What are everyones thoughts on Elliots easy ride to Rupp? Will it give them an advantage over Anderson who had a tough region championship game, whereas Eliiot won by 20+?
-
This game will be extremely close throughout. Elliot will get out rebounded again but for Anderson to win their guards really need to step up. Anderson has the advantage down low with Russell and Penny but Elliot has the advantage in the guard spots with Ferguson and the Faulkner twins.
Anderson by 4

With Jon Hood hurt is he still the favorite or any late contenders?
-
I'm going to say Anderson by 15+ if they press and run the floor well. However, if they let the game slow down it will go down to the wire.
-
Anderson will really have to step up if they have a shot at winning the region. They have not played particularly well of late, and seem to really have problems if Fultz and Davenport aren't scoring. But, anything can happen.

CJ scores his 2,000 point and Jacob Russell scores his 1,000 point on same night 2/24/09.

Thought he was talking about running backs.
Just giving example of how fast d-line can be

Don't know that 4.7 is D1 speed.
The top two defensive ends in the Combine run a 4.75

C J Penny is very good, and with Big Jake Russell on the other block they can really cause problems for other teams. Anderson is very well coached by Drury. Anderson plays physical so you have to make hard cuts and be strong with the ball to beat them.
The guy for County that thrives in that environment is Vance Hall. Vance straight up has roothogablilty. He will absolutely battle for every loose ball and every rebound. He has to play well for County to win.
Certainly does describe the way Vance plays and he always has played that way. I believe the key to the game will be if Franklin can keep Anderson from having a third scorer. They are not going to stop Penny or Russell, but if they can keep Nick Humphries or Landon Jenkins from having a good night they can win.

Not to be too biased, I just watched the video of the Russell kid, and it seems to me like everyone on not only his squad, but opposing squads, he's much bigger than. He looks like a major talent to keep an eye on.
And from experience, I saw MacShara run only once last year, on a cold frozen feild, and only two words are needed to describe it - FAST, Elusive. He makes tremendous cuts, had the QB been scanning the feild better, MacShara was open all night comming out of the backfield after he made his cut to the middle of the feild vs. Bell County, Very interested in not only seeing him again come November, but keeping up with how he does on his senior campaign. Very good looking class so far.
You are right, it looks that way because Russell is bigger. Ha Ha he was bigger than his linemen and was the strongest kid in the weight room.
-
It wont be that big of a margin. Teams are similar but Anderson has the better big men and Franklin probably has the better guards.
Anderson 64
Franklin 60

I would be shocked if CJ Penny from Anderson wasn't 1st or 2nd team all-state. Anderson has played a very tough schedule and Penny hasn't been outplayed in any of those games yet.
-
You have to take a look at Jacob Russell 6'4'' 230lb QB from Anderson Co. He is possibly the best D-1 QB prospect in the state. Getting looked at by some major D-1 programs. Has the combination of size, speed, and arm strength to be a D-1 starter.

Jeremy Turpin and Jacob Russell from Anderson county will be 2 of the top players in the region
-
Jeremy Turpin and Jacod Russell from Anderson will be one the top players no doubt bout that..
-
I would agree that Brown and McKee are two of the best young players I've seen in the 8th this year.
Eriel McKee (Anderson County) freshman - amazing, natural moves. Very quick. Seems to have great instincts, which shouldn't be surprising, considering her older siblings (Eric and Erin McKee).
She is actually only in 7th grade.
-
There were locker rooms? Anderson boys and girls had to dress in classrooms.
-
Penny had 31 pts and 15 reb, and Russell had 14 pts and 15 rebs. for Anderson.
-
Jacob Russell (Anderson Co.) Jr. QB, 4.7-40 320lb bench, 6'4'' 225lbs.
He has seen interest from some D1 schools and attended games at Purdue, Michigan St., and Georgia Tech, among others.
-
Russell had a triple double and again Penny had a good game. Maddox did not look his usual self with around 11 points but Jones looked really good for Gallatin.

One of the main concerns will be point guard play for Anderson. Who will run the point, the only true PG I have seen is in 7th grade. Anderson really missed Gemmel this year from two years ago and will continue to struggle at the point, unless one of their young talents really improves.
