  1. From what I have heard this years team will be better than last years. My source says Nickell, Knipp, And Faulkner will be as good or better than last years trio. Ison will be stepping in where T Knipp was last year and some Fraley kid will be better than the older Knipp was. Looks like the EC fans may be doing a 4-peat.

You need another SOURCE! Why you people get on here and say stuff like this blows my mind! Creating such undo expectations on these kids when you know very well they are no where in the same league. Knipp will have to quit sulking & be a leader. Nickell is a good player & will be solid if he does not get overpowered. Faulkner should not be compared to his cousins & no one at EC should as it is just not fair to the kid. Fraley kid I do not know anything about but I am sure he suffers from the Coach Mayse sendrom just like the Ison kid as both have unjustly gathered more than their fair share of pine instead of being developed. The best thing these kids have going for them this year is the change in the head coach position.

  2. I wish him nothing but the best with all the happiness in the world. However I saw him play last week & watched him earlier in his career & he is definitely one of those kids who peeked early (7th-9th grade) while being bigger than everyone else at that time. It is unfair to him of all that was put on him or out about him but that is part of it. He has not improved enough since the early years to play major D1 mainly due to athletic ability & just not being good enough. When I saw him last week against Shelby Valley maybe he was the 4th or 5th best player on the floor at best. Everyone says who is he going to guard on "D" at D1 level?,but what kind of "O" will he fit into at D1 level? He will not be able to get himself open or get by his man & the only thing I can see is if he plays 2 or 3 & can possibly post up a smaller player. I cannot see someone giving him a major D1 scolly with such limitations. Just my thoughts.

  3. They had a fortunate draw ... neither of the two teams they beat, Hazard and Grayson County, were in the top 20 at the end of the regular season.

I'll have to agree with Westsider on this one. IMO had WJ been in the other bracket they would ave been done after game 2 & never seen Saturday morning. Much like Hazard last year.

  4. Congrats to EC for a great 3 yrs of basketball. They were fun to track and I cant wait to watch Ethan Faulkner play at NKU next year.

They truly got a steal! In the style EKU plays I cannot see how someone from

Detroit, Cincinnati, DC or wherever could be a better fit!! The Ky schools wonder why they do not get the local support!!!

  5. 1. Holmes

    2. Central

    3. Eastern

    4. Christian County

    5. Elliott County

    6. Shelby Valley

    7. Corbin

    8. Lexington Catholic

    9. West Jessamine

    10. Mason County

    11. Anderson County

    12. Bowling Green

    13. Grayson County

    14. Graves County

    15. Adair County

    16. Hazard

Another back handed slap at EC as I cannot agree with Chrisitan Co at all. I was really not impressed with them. Holmes kept them in the game way to long by slowing the ball down. Each time Holmes stepped up the tempo they opened a double digit lead. CHristian Co had a lot of athletes but not enough basketball players to go along with it. I would have put them 9 or 10 at best.

  6. I don't want to be called an Elliott County basher or anything, but they didn't impress me much tonight at all. Maybe it wasn't there night I don't know. I will say this though, you can tell that this team has been playing together a long time. They are molded together very well and play great team ball. I do think they rely on the 3-point shot to much and that might hurt them in the end. Everyone knows the saying, "You live by the 3 and you die by the 4".

I think Elliott should play their style of play (uptempo). Its too late now to try and play a different style that their not used to. That would hurt them big time no matter who they play, because thats not Lion basketball. If they slow it down and grind it out I don't know how they can possibly win. They have big mismatch problems. It will take Elliott's best game of the season to win tomorrow morning. They have everything going against them, but they have alot of supporters rooting for them and backing them so who knows.

Holmes is a tremendus team. They should not take Elliott lightly at any circumstance. When they commited all those turnovers in the third, Lex Cath couldn't capitalize or this could have been a totally different out come. If Elliott gets those opportunities that Lex Cath got, they will convert. Holmes did have some careless turnovers and showed they are vulnerable against a good press. So there not as perfect as some on here say. They need to take care off the ball and take advantage of their size and bang inside against Elliott. Holmes can run but can they run with Elliott? I don't know.

Good luck to both teams tomorrow morning! I do believe who ever wins will bring home the state championship. I am a Holmes supporter so i have to go with the Bulldogs in a tough win! If Elliott wins, I will be rooting for them in the finals, they truely are the cinderalla team in the tournament. Good Luck!

So which is it they didin't impress your or did they?

  7. I'm not affiliated with either team, but what I saw was 2 players getting their feet tangled up while running down the court. Why would you "intentionally" foul some one who had just inbounded the ball and is 80 feet from the basket when your up 8 points ? The call was ridiculous.

Ethan is way to smart of a baskeball player to do something like this in such a game or any game for that matter. More than that believe it or not he understands and respects the game & his opponent way to much to do something like this intentionally! Plus the fact is this is just not Ethan, in all my years of watching him on & off the court I have never seen him mad, lose his composure or anything of the sort. Throw in the fact that he is to good of a kid and would never do anything like this intentionally. It is just not his personality!

  8. If these two teams play one big key that I haven't heard anyone mention is if Holmes wants to play slow will they be disciplined to pull off the break if its not there & set their offense. As basketball fans we all have seen it at every level if slow down is your style or strategy it is very rare that team doesn't get caught up in the up tempo game. Will Holmes guards be able to pull it off?

  9. I have to laugh at the 52 pt comment. Do you really believe they could beat Holmes scoring 52 pts. against them? Teams that like to get up and down the court don't play zone defense and I doubt their man to man could hold Holmes to 52 pts.

Obviously EZ you haven't been paying to much attention to most of the threads regarding Holmes this year & especailly the last month or so. All eveyone is talking about is the low offensive production even the Holmes fans! Especially since a lot of it seems to be by the coaches design according to some Holmes & 9th Region fans. Go back & read some of the comments.

  10. You also said GRC would beat Mason Co and Stenzel would go for 35. :sssh:

Mason Co's speed will get to Valley.Mason Co 68

    Shelby Valley 63

Trust me that is one thing of Mason Co that will not get to SV! Their guards are much quicker than MC guards. I'll go SV by 9 if they do not make silly fouls which they can sometimes do.
