Here is the link to the All State and Academic All State Track teams

Only the horizontal jumps and throws have prelims. In years past both only one throwing event or horizontal jump was contested each day. This year both will be contested on the same day which could impact the second event contested.
All sprint events are timed finals. All entries are mandated to be from verifiable FAT timed meets or adjusted to FAT standards. All entry marks are to come from properly submitted marks on the KHSAA web site. All entries are subject to protest during a set pre - meet time frame and must be verified if challenged. There are no pre lims in any running event.
next year the state meet will also be a one day event.
this is reportedly at the request of school administrators to cut expenses regarding travel.

The reg below is from the KHSAA By Laws - Rule 25.
Beginning in 2008 there is no seperation between the indoor and outdoor track seasons. This change is a result of the lack of indoor facilities in Kentucky along with the potential for milder weather conditions in March in some parts of Kentucky.
Sec. 12) Sports Specifi c Limitations - Indoor and Outdoor Track
- Boys and Girls
1) Following the opening day of school, there shall be no organized
practice prior to December 1.
2) There shall be no more than two (2) practice meets held by each
team and such shall be held on or before the Monday of NFHS
calendar week 38.
3) The fi rst meet (indoor or outdoor) shall not take place before the
Monday of NFHS Calendar Week 28.
4) The track season shall consist of a maximum of nineteen (19)
meets. All meets, regardless of format or of being indoor or
outdoor meets, shall count against the limit of meets.
5) The opportunity to participate in regular season outdoor
contests season ends at all levels of play (grades 9-12) on the
day prior to the fi rst day for varsity level competition in KHSAA
sanctioned post-season events, with the exception that the
varsity team may practice and play through its elimination from
KHSAA sanctioned tournament play. Following elimination,
there shall be no further practice or play during the remainder
of the academic school year.

I ran into the head of maintenance at Mason Co last night. He said 5 members of the fire marshalls office had been in to measure capacity at Mason Co this week. They told him they had Mason Co at 5200 and they had also done Montgomery which was 3600. If these are public buildings and this is a state office, I would think this info would be a matter of public record. The last 3 years the fire marshall has been present at the regional final and monitored ticket sales at Mason County.

Thoughts on Increased Number of State Track Meet Qualifiers
in KY Swimming, Track, Lacrosse, Golf (High School)

It is an issue that cuts both ways. Yes there are people qualified to compete that do not belong but in this format, you will not have anyone left out due to bad weather or just bad luck. We will truely get the 16 best competitors out of the field of 24 which we did not always get before. There are negatives in every circumstance but i believe the positives outway the negatives. The one day format with no preliminary races is another topic all together.
