  1. Walton is not going to win many or any games that Jordan Ponzer does not play in. He is by far their best player!!

I'm sure Trame realizes that his team is not very good...I'm sure ponzer was on the bench for a reason...I don't know to many coaches that like to lose..WV has a few more years of growing pains before they will get to the top tier in the 8th..I just hope Trame is around to coach than.

  2. Priceless. Did you attend this game? Judging by your comments I would guess no. Ponzer was one of the few bright spots offensively. Yes he had a few bad passes but show me a high school point guard that doesn't make mistakes. As for Trame, I was a huge fan of his when he was at SK but his previous stop wasn't nearly as successful and left a lot of the supporters of the progran very happy when he decided to step down, including some of his former players.

Burns will be a key to this team but at this point his game is nowhere near ready. He reminds me of a freshman or sophomore that is stepping into a starting role. The only problem is he is a senior and is running out of time.

nkysl...I wasn't at the game, but i've seen this kid play numerous games, and he's not the type of player Trame wants.

  3. This was what I was trying to bring to light... I think WV is a talented team, they just need to buckle down, be patient, and play good offense, and they will win a lot more games. Like so many Walton teams- they are trying to live and die by the three.

Soory Root, but Walton is far from a talented team. Trame will get Walton back on track, but as long as ponzer is their they will not be the team their capabe of being. The kids at WV were brainwashed by Kyle Bennet's "Soft Girl" play. WV will get there 15 or so wins this year, but I think it will take Trame a couple of years to get this program back to where it once was. Their ridiculous AAU talent sure won't hurt em'.

  4. Kind of strange to hear someone talking about lack of intensity on the part of a Jon Jones'-coached team. I was - and am - very high on the end-of-the-year potential for this Gallatin team - but they will need to have the intensity level ratcheted up every night in order to be successful, particularly against some of the bigger 8th region teams - which, compared to Gallatin, is just about everyone. They'll have to be faster to every loose ball, quicker to every rebound, etc., etc.

But I still think Gallatin will make a lot of noise by the time all is said and done.

I wonder who their leader is, what is their identity? This team is 7 to 8 deep and I see no clear cut leader or leaders. Hopefully when they go to San Diego next week they'll grow closer as a team and come back fired up to make a run at the All A, 31st district, and make some noise in the 8th. As you stated ColonelMike ratcheted up!

  5. Every game they have played has come down to the wire and that is with one of the top players seeing limited time due to football injuries. This team has several good fresh, soph, Juniors and Seniors and gave GC all they could handle..as well as Owen and Henry. Let Yager work with them and by the end of the season these will turn to wins.

    Nice first post Doggy..

I'm curious as to why CC didn't try to run some zone. Gallatin abused their man def. all night. I've seen GC play a couple games and they are weak at perimeter play. The game was a whole lot closer than it should have been, GC did everything they could to give it away. I agree with boring...what a sleeper. Where is the intensity in Jones team?

  6. I don't quite understand the "gear it up a notch" comment. The Cats are 18-5 with losses coming to #4 Scott Co., #5 Holmes, #12 Hazard, and the region's top ranked team, Anderson Co. And, oh yeah, Ryle isn't too shabby.

The Cats were in a position to win all of those except Scott Co. I expect them to be just fine against the Oldham triumverate. I was expecting a very good game last night against a vastly improved Raider team.

Mack all I'm saying is that while the All A Regional title is nice don't lose focus on the real prize. The region is more balanced than I've ever seen it in 20 years, and the cats have an opportunity to do something special by going to the "Sweet 16". I know post A blah's play a factor, and playing at Trimble is never easy it's probably the darkest gym in the region. My "gear it up a notch" comment was not to downplay the cats success to this point, they've been awesome. They have a tough stretch of games coming up and believe me I'm pulling for the cats.......

  7. I didn't get to make the game, but it looks like Zac Jones had another big game for the cats. I hope this is just a case of the post A blah's, because you guys(especially the seniors) need to gear it up a notch. You've got S.Oldham,N.Oldham and Oldham coming up all in the next 2 weeks. This is the time you need to start your run if your going to challenge for the 8th region. I hope you guys are up to the challenge and I'll be pulling for ya......

  8. What would be a good draw? Alot of balance across the board.

I think Owen,Simon Kenton,or Walton Verona would be ideal for the cats...Gallatin doesn't want to play a Shelby, Anderson, or any of the Oldham's in the first round and then have to turn around and play one of these teams in the second round...Gallatin has handled Owen fairly well the past few years, Walton is soft and doesn't rebound very well, and Simon Kenton beat Gallatin bad last year in the regional tournament and I have a feeling Coach Jones and the cats still haven't forgot about that beatdown....

  9. Anderson Co. is obviously the favorite, but so was the pioneers of SK last year, and almost everyone was picking them on BGP....can Anderson Co. handle the pressure of being on top....should be one of the most evenly matched regional tournament's in recent memory....Gallatin Co. will need a great draw to have a chance to win the 8th, will they be able to overcome their lack of depth and size????
