  1. What does NCC have to do with Holmes and Dixie's outcome?

NCC is a slow it down type of team who has had the most success against Holmes the past few years outside of CCH.

When Dixie did beat Holmes in 06 did they slow the game down? Yes they did. I could see Chevy slowing the game down against them this time. No point during the regluar season trying to slow the game down for dixie. Meaning see if you can play with them now if not you know what to try in regions. This is just my opion. I only got upset with how people think they will totally get blown out and making Holmes sound like they are god compared to everyone else in the region.

  2. They also had Keener, Muzzillo, and Lubrano. These three along with Sam Lawson is better talent than Dixie's current main players.

Keener was a nice player the other 2 not so much LUbrano was a work horse and could shoot a little no comment about muzzilo but just so you know that team had a 500 record and was ranked 7th in the area... This years team is 20-11 and they were hit by the injury bug pretty badly

  3. Hicks did make that adjustment in the 1st after Mace score 8 points. 44 sagged off of Kendall to help double Mace. I was disappointed to see Chevalier not counter that move. Instead, he kept Kendall down low, which allowed 44 to stay down there. Plus, with Kendall not hitting the outside jumper, 44 could stay home. Hicks got away from that at the end and Mace took advantage again scoring 6 quick ones. I just think regardless of the last game, if a team is cold, you pack it in and force them to beat you from the outside. If the outside shots start falling, then get out of the zone. Granted, I wanted Dixie to win, I was just baffled by the coaching decisions during the game by both teams.

Thats right they did sag of Kendall after the Mace went of real fast. I can understand why Chevalier didnt go to Kendall. He only had 6 points in districts against 2 teams who are not very good. He has been struggling and I would think it would be to big of a game to go to someone who is in a slump. I really dont think Dixie was cold last night. They didnt shoot many three's at all (maybe 10) The best shooter they have only took one 3 point shot and missed it. So I liked how Hicks coached the game just only having Thomas to go to at the end killed them. But I would pack it in if a team was cold but again dont think Dixie even really shoot outside.

  4. Dixie missed A LOT of jumpers. I think had Conner packed it in a 2-3 zone it could have made a difference. Why Hicks didn't do this as Dixie was ice cold from outside of the paint still puzzles me.

If you watch the game close Hicks always had a guy on Kendall who would help a little, then a guy on Lawson who didnt help off at all. The other 3 were close enough to the lane to try and cover Mace. Mace hit many shots tonight that he usually struggles with. For the 2-3 zone they tried that the first game they played and Lawson shot them out of it. That is why he went with the game plan he had. His game plan worked out just couldnt pull it out at the end. This game was closer due to the D they were playing and all the quick hitters they were running.

  5. Does it matter who was leading when? All that matters is who is leading at 0:00 end of 4th.

Your correct... It was the Red Colonels third time they beat Conner this year. Hicks is a great coach though, he had a great game plan the Triangle and 2 really bothered the Colonels offense. Lawson only had 2 points and Kendall had 12

  6. Although the region tournament history doesn't show it, Jim Hicks always has Conner ready for tournament time. Just look back to '05 when Conner upset Cov Cath who was then #1. Although they have not made it far in the tournament, they always give teams very tough games.

The 05 team had more horses than this Conner team does. Lets not forget about that.

  7. This game was very close the entire game. If Lloyd's offense played as good as their defense, they would have won this won easily. I was very impressed with the way Lloyd pressured all of Dixie's guards. Congrats to Lloyd on a great effort. Dixie, job well done. Good luck in the championship on Friday.

Lol they wouldnt have one easily they wouldnt have won at all Dixie owns that district obviously

  8. I agree Holmes will be good. Who will the PG be? I think Holmes, Boone, and Highlands and Ryle will be the top 4 teams over the next year or so, with Cov Cath and Dixie next. Who won the J.V. championship this year in NKY?

Dixie will be losing a bunch of seniors and will be re-building for the 2 years after next so not sure if they will be up there. For Boone being up there next year and to make a run they need to forget about AAU ball and play some D. They like to over react on some calls from the refs and get there heads out of the game when things do not go there way but this could be due to being a young team. I believe if Boone would play D and forget about just offense they will be alright. With that said they need to look for Earls and Mcfarland more in the future to run the offense through and everything will open up for the guards. Pretty much to make is simple they need to play organized basketball and not aau basketball. This is what I saw from the 2 games I saw them play.

  9. But here's the thing. Highlands stars do have good nights every night because you cant shut both down. Dixie is a good team but the cream of the crop is Holmes, Covcath and Highlands.

After those 3 its a long shot for anyone else to win the region.

You are right about shutting both down. Like I said if you shut one down of hold him under 10 they are very beatable. I think Conner, St.henry, and Dixie can beat Highlands if one of them have a off night. Highlands dont have enough horses to keep up. The one thing going for Highlands tho is the D they play is very physical and the way they switch is tough to beat. So Highlands will be tough to beat but not as tough as everyone thinks. This is from what I saw from the 5 times I got to see them play.

  10. I know you can't/shouldn't compare scores, but St. Henry beat NCC by 2 on 2/5 and Highlands beat NCC by 20(could've been 30) on 2/25. And you're saying St. Henry should be above Highlands?

Dixie's lost 5 of their last 10 games and they should be ranked above Highlands?

    Doesn't look right to me.

Dixie has played some tough teams in the last 10 games also. Now that everyone is healthy and just now starting to gel like they can (like the boone game) they should be higher than St. Henry and Highlands in your top 8 teams left. If Highlands 2 stars both dont have good nights against Dixie, Cov cath, and Holmes they will lose. Not enough horses on that squad. Dixie's team is just like Cov Cath and Holmes with many seniors playing major minutes. These are the 3 teams to watch out for IMO. 2 of these 3 will be in the finals.
