  1. That's my whole issue. Give Boyle 2 years and things will be back. Boyle was outplayed at Henry Clay, outcoached vs. Danville, and Lafayette was a game that BC could have won as well. WITH THE VARSITY. Are you going to tell me that this team has no talent? Are you going to tell me a team that is missing Bradley Emerson(why did he quit before the season even started), a team that went 11-1 last year is a rebuilding team? Look to the future. Are you serious?!?!? What about these kids out here right now?!?!?!? That is my question. As stated earlier, did the juniors and seniors just suddenly forget to play footballl after 3-4 years in the system. Who made those fumbles last night. I know the JV OFFENSE had a few of them as well. Are you serious?!?!?! In two years you know what we will have....Chris Pardue's 1st senior class. That's what happens in two years. Boyle has no excuse for not being more competitive last night, but when your SENIOR leaders aren't allowed on the field to lead the entire second half, then what good do you have. I know firsthand as well that the future for Boyle looks good(that's not my issue), I am there alongside you and you don't even know it, but I also know that the upperclassmen are getting thrown under the bus, and I feel that they don't need to be. I know Brandon Smith isn't walking through that door, I know Matt Quinn, and Jeff Duggins, and the Tamme family and Leffew family have all graduated, that's not the point. The point is that despite the so called lack of talent, this team was in a position to be successful this year, but now who knows what will happen next. The coaches decided to go with Perry at QB, why, who knows, but to have Grant Tamme behind center all last year and to see him moved to receiver for a QB who may not be as talented as him was a coaching move. Lots a questionable coaching decisions in the past year, and despite the wins or losses, it's the coaching decisions that has all the BC faithful befuddled.

You make some serious flaws in your claim. First off Pardue's first senior class will be this year’s sophomore class. 2nd Seth Tamme is gone, Andrew Cass is gone, Emerson is gone, Hagen Smith is gone, Jesse Kephart is gone. And guess what those guys with way more talent did not win a state championship, so what do you expect from this team. Also the JV did not fumble the varsity had 7 of them. The JV outplayed the starting Team from PSW, wile the Varsity Boyle Team got man handled.

How many kids from this year’s team started last year? Josh Miller, Grant Tamme, who else am I missing someone, oh yea Zane Hilton, Aaron Waters, No one else did. These guys did not go 11-1 last year; Seth Tamme went 11-1.

Are you telling me last years team was as good at Brandon Smith, Quinn Givhan, Danny Commarford, Evan Teague's team that went 10-2? No way the 04' team could have fun circles on 05, but they still did not win a state title.

Danville did not out coach us, they out talented us. They ran a basic simple Offense just like highlands that should never beat a Boyle Team but it did, because they are better talent. Also, another fatal flaw in your statement is comparing us to Lexington schools, which are over hyped but underachieve every year.

And I am not attacking you, we agree on a lot of things. Our main thing is we both love Boyle. But the seniors are not performing, so they do not deserve to be playing. You can't call them senior leaders if they don’t lead, plain and simple

  2. With that mentality Boyle would only have 3 state championships instead of 5. 99 and 03 would have been rebuilding years, because there was more "talent" in the lower classes. You may be right that there was more talent but those seniors knew how to lead and were tough nosed kids. 04 was one of our most talented all around teams and they dropped the ball in the state finals, and 98 was supposed to win state and was ranked top 5, but finished the season 7-5. If there is no talent why did this junior class and senior class dominate in JV, explain that to me. Because i believe that while the kids might not be the best they have to be put in the right state of mind to win.

Not true, 99 Had Duggins, Quinn, McCoy, Miller(the good one) Clem, Wilson, Lets not forget the 2 Leffews.

2003 - Brandon Smith, Quinn Givhan, Ian Young, Patrick Wilson, Danny Commarford, Evan Teague, Jeremy Enlow, Seth Tamme

2006 - Aaron Waters, Zane Hilton, Rees Macshara, Phillip Mason, Conner Givhan, Ben Carmen, Dre Cox,

Notice the names in bold are freshman and sophmores.

  3. Sure you cant replace Coach Smith, but if he was coaching right now Boyle would still be 1-5. You guys have to realize there are no Matt Quinns, Jeff Duggins, Brad Cloud, Brandon Smith, Quinn Givhan, Danny Commarford, Jacob Tamme, Seth Tamme, Adam Tamme, Brodie Overstreet, Brandon Clem, Casey McCoy, Jake Rotsker, Lance Mertz.

You cant win without talent, no matter how good the coahes are.

  4. I heard through a Rumor that There were a lot of Boyle players who where out sick! I do not know this for a fact. I just know that Boyle has had a black cloud over there head all season! Its easy to kick them when they are down but,I predict that Boyle will get back on track!

Not this season, but thats ok. one bad year in the last 10 aint bad.

And the sickness is staph 2 players in the hospital with it right now I believe.

  5. I don't think it's the beginning of the end for Boyle. It may be for Pardue and co. I'm not close to the situation but I've read too many times in the paper where he has ripped his players. And it seems to me he has given up on some of his seniors since day 1. I think he is a great offensive mind but I question his leadership. I know a great coach will break the kids down and build them back up. I remember a coach at Boyle that was like that. Don't give up on these young men. I know most of you wont. I wish those young men the best! This will only make them stronger.

It is not Pardues fault honestly, he didnt give up, he realized he did not have the players to compete this year. His talent is all sophmore and Freshman, there is no talent at the upper class, besides maybe Aaron Waters.

  6. I have a question for the fans of the BC Rebels. Are the problems this year purely related to talent level and inexperience or do they run much deeper than that? Just curious to know what everyone thinks.

It is strictly talent. Josh Miller makes no plays, so we might as well not play him. Aaron water, and Zane hilton are the only players on the team that start that are really any good.

Trust me on this one the coaches know what they are doing 100%.

Now we did find some things out tonight. The best QB so far this season, Phillip Mason, and Conner Givhan.

Best WR, Ben Carmen, Rees MaCshara

    Rees MaCshara, best RB.

Jacob Smith, is a good Wideout, same with Brett Marshall. The 2nd team o line, dont know any of there names played very very well

Let me put this in persepctive, starters played the first half scored 0 against PSW and gave up 28

JV played 2nd half gave up 0 Points against PSW and scored 7. The best part of all this is PSW took out none of there starters the whole game, and Givhan was threading the needle, Ben Carmen scored the td pass they didnt give us a good spot though. Philip showed heart, and is a better leader/ player then Perry, but if Givhan was a little stronger he would be the best QB in my opinion.

    So lets break this down

    PSW vs Boyle JV 0-7

    PSW vs Boyle V 28-0

Nice job on making a statement coaches, I am glad you showed everyone that there is no heart or talent on the varisty, but our young talent is very good.

  7. Woah buddy! Don't let their record fool you, they're a very good ball team. I would do this years. :thumb:

I know, they are young, and with youth and inexpierence some bumps in the road will be hit, I think I will do this later tonight, when I can find out just a little bit more of the team. I actully think I will do both this years, and the all time boyle team. I love my Rebel's, dont get me wrong I have faith in both the coaching staff and the players.

  8. I must admit after watching him play against Boyle I dont see how he got offered. He is 6'5 but he only cought one pass and he dove for it, he must have dropped 3 passes that game. It is easy to torch the Boyle secondary, and a 6'5 couldnt even do it. Anyway congrats to him, if you work on those hands I am sure he will be amazing.

  9. I have to start attending more games with you guys! A little rock throwing, a few fights, sure. That's a new one. This plain vanilla world I live in is the pits. You guys sure you just aren't dreaming this stuff up?:jump:

Never happened to me when I played and I played in the days of bra burning, free love, etc. I feel deprived. I deserve to be compensated. Maybe one of the Boyle fans should return the favor, I mean rudeness. Yeah, that's the ticket. And maybe we should start a new poll: who's been flashed at football games and did you consider it a) rude, and b) disruptive to your pre game warm up concentration.

Why can't I just leave this thread alone? I feel like the moth being drawn to the flame. OK, I'll quit. You guys can get back to arguing with the Mercer fans as to whether they were really rude, whether your qb should be your qb and whether Chuck Smith called the right plays in the 2004 championship game. But its been entertaining I have to tell you.

Chuck Smith was the D cordinator, and I did not say it was rude of the Highlands fans to flash, I think I actully said they did a really good job of trying to distract the Boyle players, wile not being rude and disrespectful

And wile I dont agree with some of the calls by coach Pardue, he is a great O cordinator, and needs to take that back over.

  10. Just because they have talent in those classes doesnt make them a sure bet. Talented classes have fallen on their faces before like the 97 squad with Neil Brown and Bart Johnson and the 04 team that broke the streak with Brandon Smith, Brandon Record, Evan Teague, Quinn Givhan, etc. I look to what the past teams had and the teams now have and the one glaring difference is Chuck Smith. Im not saying the coaches are any good, they are some of the best. Just give Boyle some time to adjust to the post-Smith era.

You make some strong arguments, and I cant disagree with you here. But they may or may not win a state championship, but they will have a strong QB, Conner Givhan, Rees Macshara RB/WR/DB Ben Carmen WR, Dre Cox RB, Daniel Weichurt on the OL, Jacob Smith. I think they have a good chance, but no gurentee's but keep in mind you dont have to win state every year to be a power house. Michigan for example is a football powerhouse and has not won a national championship in some time.

The thing that is hurting Boyle the most this year, is they do not have a QB who can lead them. The kid never played football though so what do you expect?

  11. First of all, Coach Pardue said he was sending the tape in on his call-in show.  .

And if the playcaller now was back in the 04 game, it would be dive, dive, dive, punt with 2 minutes to go in the game:lol:   So maybe Givhan would have had 31 carries for 100 yards in that game.

I kinda wish i played against Highlands at Highlands now tho......

At least he would have gotten 100. Actully back then since a mobile QB was plyaing it was dive, dive, dive, get the whole defense thinking dive, Brandon Smith on the outside, or Evan Teague in the flats to run over some people.

And no I am not paranoid, nor do I think Boyle would have beaten Highlands at Highlands, but those things happend. You may not believe me, but I am pretty sure I had a better point of view then you did.

  12. Over the past decade or so, Boyle County has played consistently well and done very well in football. Right now, they are 1-4, with four straight losses. Included in the four losses are losses to a 1A school (Danville), a 2A school (Mercer County), and a blowout loss to a team they used to dominate (Henry Clay). The one win was against a so-so team (Harrison County). Is this just a one-year hiccup for the Rebels' program, with BC returning to top-level play in 2007, or are the Rebels heading back towards football mediocrity?

Let me some this up. If you looks at the number of sophmore and freshman playing varsity it makes it obvious that these guys will return to the top in 2 to 3 years.

  13. I must be missing something because "hostile" is not the adjective I would use to describe this situation. In fact, if that were the situation when I was in high school, I would have insisted on playing Highlands 3-4 times a year.

Ha, well get me outside of trying to win a state championship and im in heaven thats for sure.

  14. I find that little birdie hard to believe, that is nothing something Boyle co. does. The player are taught to worry about things in there control, if the coaching staff starts sending off tapes about refs, then the player are going to start to wonder, "well maybe we would have won if the refs did a better job" I really find this hard to believe.

And I do understand that the entire student body is not bad, but I would have gone into more detail had it not been 4am. But I also had very rude things said to me as I left, since there were people walking behind me intentionally screaming and cursing just so the Boyle fans would hear it. I also remember very clearly me walking into the game and hearing this, "Those Boyle people suck, 5 time state champs my tush. I feel bad for any fans that wasted there money today" What happened to showing class?

I also hope that my first post was not taken out of context, I want Boyle to have a great year, and I like the boys on the team. I just really feel that the reason we are losing is because we lack talent.

Coach Pardue was one of the best playcallers in the state. Play calling should be a strength but instead it is a major deficiency(it has almost gotten laughable). With Pardue calling the plays, this team is 4-1 with a loss to Henry Clay, and everybody is praising Perry, Tamme, Miller, and the rest. But, hindsight is 20-20, so lets let the seniors lead, the junior and sophmores follow, the coaches coach, the officials officiate, and the fans.... well cheer i guess
I agree the Pardue is a great O coordinator, but he would not have these guys 4-1 let me go back and give you an example

04 state championship Boyle vs. Highlands. Boyle lost to a great team, but the week of practice before the game, Boyle worked on a toss sweep to the running back with Brandon Smith lead blocking. At the end of the half Given Had 9 carries for 45 yards, and not a single carry to the teams leading rusher in the 2nd half, they went all pass. When you’re leading at half time how can you not run the ball anymore? Highlands 3-3 stack was vulnerable with Smith lead blocking for Given. In that same game Brandon Smith was intercepted 3 times because of the pressure up front. Because boyle stopped running the ball he had no time, also Boyle was trying to run a deep passing game, against D1 defensive backs, instead of working the short middle game where the 3-3 is vulnerable. When your left guard is getting man handled out there you don’t throw deep. Now Boyle got beat that day, but the play calling wasn’t great either.

    H. But even if what you posted was true, is that really an example of playing in a hostile environment? Man, you must be getting soft:laugh:

IF the Mercer students behaved as poorly as you and someothers have posted, the Mercer school administration is to blame for not doing a better job controlling it and people should call the super and complain about it.

Maybe I should have brought up the fake band that Highlands had playing in the room over from the locker room we were getting dressed it. They had students I guess banging on these instruments, and when I say banging I mean that they were not playing songs, but playing noise to get into our heads so we could not sit back relax and get focused. That was a great Idea on the Highlands fans part, maybe a little rude but it worked, maybe a little unsportsmanlike like but it worked.

But even through all that, that was all in good fun of hating the other team. What Mercer did was rude and disrespectful. Sure Mercer has never won like they are now, but they should have showed more respect to a program like Boyle who has built a tradition.

  15. Let me just say this about the atmosphere, and more the fans at the Boyle, Mercer game. I have played or been to some very hostile Environments, Louisville Central, in the heart of downtown Louisville where it was literally a scary environment with girls trying to sell us programs during our pregame Speech. I have also been to Paducah Tilghman, and Prestonsburg, but I have never once seen such poor class, as I saw out of the students at Mercer Co, I was literally shocked at the way they acted with nothing being done. They had students walking through our Boyle section, wearing nothing but boxer shorts holding up signs of mercer screaming into the faces of Boyle fans just sitting there warming up. I heard cursing from them, and rude and obscene jesters, and nothing was done about this. I must say I am ashamed of the way they acted. As a former player and a winner of a few state championships, I must say that we have been treated badly by fans as players, and student tried to intimidate us but this is the first time I have seen the student section go crazy on the fans. Shame on you Mercer, maybe if you get used to winning you will get some class, act like you have been there before. I realize that you have not been there before and so it may be hard, but seriously I am ashamed of you:madman:

    Now onto the Boyle players:

They are young and inexperienced, but I am sick of that being an excuse people make.

The QB position is horrible, I don’t remember seeing a starting QB at Boyle this bad, and my Viewing and playing days go back pretty far, into the early 90's before Chuck Smith was there. Perry has no touch on the ball; his form is worse then that of Vince Young. No I don’t expect a Jeff Duggins or Brandon Smith every year, but Grant Tamme was a much better fit for this team at QB, at least he could get the ball to people. From what I have seen in the middle school games, and heard from other people they might as well start Conner Given at QB and I think he is only a freshman or sophomore.

The RB position is very very bad as well. Cole Steven may run real hard, but he does not have the speed, or size to be a very good back. Again, I don’t Expect a Matt Quinn, Casey McCoy, or Quinn Given but they have to have someone else to fill this spot, and its not That Crutchfield boy who's name escapes me. What about Reese Macshara, or Brett Marshall?

Wideout's, I never thought in my life that Taylor Bottom would be the best WR on the team, but sadly he is because unlike the others he cares and wants to win. The 2nd best player on the field is Freshman WR Reese McShara this is very sad. Josh Miller because of his size is the most over rated player I have ever seen, teams are not really double covering him, he just has not yet shown the big time catching ability, or the heart to make plays, except at the Danville game. His brother Josh may not have had the best hands, but he cared about winning, and I believe Josh needs to get there for this team to be successful, but he can get there. Show that senior leadership Josh. Put the Freshman Ben Carmen in at Wide out, maybe he can make some plays. Again I realize there is no Jacob, Seth Tamme but something's got to give

OL- I really give them credit, they are doing a fine job. Aaron Water's need's to keep anchoring this young group, but they are doing fine.

DL- Same as above keep it up.

LB - Step up and fill holes, make plays. The linebackers need to be down hill, stepping on the A and C gaps filling holes and making plays. Josh Miller is playing outside linebacker that is the position on the Boyle D that makes all the plays, Step up Josh and Show that Senior leadership

DB's - No speed in the secondary, if I was the O coordinator on the opposing team there would be no need to run the ball, send the ball long all night, short, middle, side lines it really does not matter.

The coaching is there, this formula is proven its time to get these players on board.

I love you Rebels, and I will never be ashamed of you just step up and make the plays. I am not attacking you guys, I love you all to death you have some Talent now the seniors just need to step up
