  1. boyd played terrible thats all there is too it they are a good team but they arent playing like it they choke when it counts but are very capable...and anyone at the game should have noticed that boyd played much better in the second half not good but much better especially their defense because there were no touchdowns scored in the second half on boyds VARSITY defense they were all scored on their jv with breathitts varsity...shows how much class holcomb has.

Are you serious. I don't think anyone that has followed Breathitt over the last 10-15 years will ever question Holcombs class. I watched the whole game and Boyd had the same players in for the whole game. Why don't you show a little class and give credit where it is due. These young kids are practicing hard everyday to try and live up to the tradition and expectations that Breathitt County football has come to expect every year. Good luck to Boyd on the rest of their upcoming season.:thumb:

  2. Breathitt finally played with a liitle heart and emotion. I thought they played with very little energy up to this point. I definatley think the talent is there. Question is, will they be able to get it out of these youngsters? The passing game is still struggeling with all the young inexperienced receivers and new QB. I do think that they are slowly learning their routes and as the season goes along you will see this group step up and help out Haddix. Good win, now bring on District play.

  3. I feel like this could and should be a very close game. Breathitt has started out with 2 very tough opponents in JC and Prestonsburg. The problem with Breathitt has not been talent, it's been experience. They have been unable to get much of a passing game going with a new QB and only 1 of their top 5 receivers returning from last year. They have the players, they just havn't performed to their abilities to this point. I look for them to get things rolling within the next couple weeks and be a strong team come playoff time.

    Breathitt 35

    Boyd 21

  4. Breathitt definatley has the weapons to be a better team by season's end. There problem is that they just can't seem to get any quality stud's in the trenches. It seems that we always have trouble fielding a quality line on both sides. We are just too small to be able to shut down a power running game. i agree with 5Wide, we have the players to be better as the season goes on, they just have to get better and have a little more experience. We missed to many scoring oppurtunities in our last game. We just wasn't very focused on offense.

  5. I thought that Breathitt looked really good considering that they had 5 starters out of the game. Some of those played both ways.

For starters, I thought that the passing game is going to be much better with Jade at the helm. I just think that he brings alot more to the table with his quickness and he has a much stronger arm. I think that we will be much more improved on offense and defense this year. Line play is the only question I see. They have some more beef up front but they are extremely young and inexperienced.

  6. I to beleive that Jarod would have been a big difference on the line this year. I am friends of Jarod's family and I can say that this young man works as hard as anyone. I assure you that he will come back and be better than ever. I think that he could be a player that ressembles the type of play that Brad Allen played for us a couple of years ago. Concerning dakota, he has been injured and has just been cleared to play.

  7. Losing Jarod is definatley a big hit. He is the strongest player on the team. I was looking forward to seeing him progress on the field this year. He has the makings to be a good one. I knew that he went down a week or so ago but didn't know that it was of this severity.

  8. They seemed to have right around 40-45 players. I watched the passing game the other day during an intersquad schrimmage and it seemed to be great. Jade can make all of the throws and definatley has a stronger arm for the crossing patterns and deep throws. I think that you will see that he will be one of the best running QB's we have had since his brother. He is not as stong in running style but definatley is faster. With the addition of Nick and Dakota and Ryan Allen they should have a solid receiving core to throw to. This should be the most balanced attack you will see out of Breathitt. As far as line play. They are still young, but add more beef than what they had last year. This is my only concern for this team.

  9. I was down at Mike Holcomb field yesterday and seen a pleasant surprise. Breathitt had 2 new players that will definatley give them a boost on offense and defense. Nick Noble has decided to play this year for the bobcats and also Dakota Ritchie. These two players are tremendous athletes and can play multiple positions. I also had a chance to see Haddix in action. This kid has all the makings to be a special player. I think that he adds a few more options to their passing game in that he has a much stronger arm that can stretch the field and is one of the fatsest players on the field. Everyone probably remembers how his brother could kill you passing and running. Last, but not least you have to talk about Channing Fugate. This kid is around 6'2 or 6'3 and can run through or around you. He is benching over 320 and has really bulked up. He has all the making to be the best bcak that Breathitt has ever had. I really think that this Breathitt team will be much better barring any key injuries than they where last year. They have the ability to be explosive on offense and should be even better on defense.

  10. My view on that is you could increase the risk of injury to a player, so I would say that would harm the game. I can't see how this compares to the game we are discussing.

Its a comparison, just not a good one.

I am so glad that you see a watered down field as a bad example, because everyone knows that you guys would never water down a field in order to slow down an explosive passing attack.;)

  11. I talked to a person that will help with the hiring of the new coach last night and he told me that there has been only two so far put in for this job. One was Doug Noble and the other was Kyle Lively. They also said that another had talked of being interested but hasn't really come forth yet. I will wait to see if he does before I mention his name. You guys are crazy if you think that Doug wouldn't be interested in this job. He has wanted it for the last 10 years.
