Wouldn't it be smarter to play the game later on Friday night after the sun goes down rather than Saturday morning when it will get hotter as the game goes on?
-
I hope it is wrong since it took Beechwood over Dixie. I'm sure their are some CovCath fans who would like it to be right since it took them over Lasalle.
-
Actually, if the heat index would reach 100, the game should not continue. It is ok to be practicing due to being able to remove equip but impossible to do this for a game.
I agree with you. I just saw on the Cincinnati Enquirer website that the Roger Bacon-Loveland game in at Princeton HS started at 5 p.m. last night with a heat index on the turf of 122. That is absolutely insame to play in that kind of heat.

Good deal GT.
Isn't Fox Sports Cincinnati going to be carrying some high school football this fall as well? I thought I had seen a commercial for it during a Reds game.
The announcement you mention that will shake the city...does it involve the Reds, Bengals, or Bearcats?
The only thing I can think is that it may be the Reds.
Unfortunately for the station, Clear Channel went out and nabbed ESPN before 96.5 did. Getting ESPN radio programming would have been huge, because it is so much better than Fox radio programming.
FoxSports is showing one game a week on Thursday nights during the season. The only NKY game on their schedule is Dixie vs. Boone Co. on October 11.

I think Dixie benefits from this new system. Even though they have to contend with CovCath and Highlands in their district, they don't have the big Louisville teams waiting for them in the playoffs outside of NKY.
-
Really? Most of the talk I've heard has them only behind X and Colerain in the city. I'll guess we will see Saturday. It's a great opportunity for the kids to play in a big game and see how they matchup. From a fans standpoint, there aren't many places better to watch a high school football game than UC's Nippert Stadium.
In the preseason coaches' poll, Lasalle is ranked sixth behind St. X, Colerain, Elder, Lakota West, and Moeller.
I would love to see CovCath pull off the upset and beat Lasalle, but their are too many questions about this CovCath team. If this game was later in the season, I think it would be a much closer game than what it will be this weekend.

Slim and none...........
Probably closer to none.
-
Lasalle should be the team to beat in the GCL this year. enuf said.:thumb:
They're predicted to finish fourth.
-
Predictions?
Dixie in a close one by less than one score.
-
7 - Lasalle
5 - NCC
3 - Boone County
2 - Tates Creek
1 - Dixie
Lasalle

Man that's odd!!! Especially Tom coaching under Duffy at one time. Heck, they had triples when Duffy was at Highlands. I guess Tom didn't buy into Duffy's program. How does Dixie do thier scrimmages. Is it the typical 10 and 10 format
I belieive that Dixie hasn't done the traditional two-a-days for a couple of years.
-
That Colerain team was more of a run team instead of a passing team. Is Cincy X the same?
They'll be run first because of Darius Ashley, but they'll be much more balanced than any Colerain team. I think they're being compared to that Colerain in overall talent and team speed.
-
OK I'll play.
1. Highlands (Undefeated in District during regular season)
2. Dixie (Gets CovCath early and barely looses to HHS at home)
3. CovCath (Learning during the regular season)
4. Holmes (Edges Scott for final spot)
5. Scott (Not this year)
CovCath gets knocked off Dixie, Highlands puts away Holmes
Highlands looses the rubber match to the Red Colonels in a close one. Dixie wins District and goes on to win the 5A championship.
Looks good to me too.

DOWN YEAR....they won Ohio's big boys championship, with their only loss being to us by 24 points.....
I was also at that game in Union and Trinity was a much better than Elder that year. This is not that Elder team. There are people in Ohio who are comparing this St. X team talent wise to the '04 Colerain team, which was the best high school football team that I have ever seen.
-
I hope that DeMatha game is on TV.
It will be on ESPN at noon on Sunday, September 2.
-
Without a doubt playing on field turf is much better than natural grass.
-
I'm surprised that Doug Ramsey has not applied for this position, but he applied for Mason. I know it would sting Elder fans if he was to leave there and go to Colerain, but this is far and away a better position than Mason.
I would be absolutely shocked if anyone other than Boldin got the position, since he was their offensive coordinator and his brother is an assistant principal at Colerain.
-
Homer Rice and, for the first time mentioned, Owen Hauck.

Congrats on back to back Class A championships to NCC. Good luck to them in 2A next year.

What's wrong with being a Ryle baseball fan, sour grapes because you can't hit a 85mph sliider or something?
And that's the second thread that you decided to talk about me and not too me. Says a lot about one's character, doesn't it.
No one in HS can throw an 85 mph slider. If there were, then they would be a 1st round pick in next year's MLB amateur draft.
This is off the issue, sorry moderator.

What part of what I said was incorrect? Don't give the song and dance about having to beat Trinity every year. The last time I checked the winner of Region 1 would have to beat Male or X.
In the past, the NKY 4A schools did not have the chance to play WKY 4A schools due to them being aligned in the first three rounds of the playoffs with a Louisville district. This was the first time that the NKY teams had the chance to meet up with any of these teams, but as you said this is a down year for WKY and I guess most years NKY teams would not have been able to match up with these teams. The guru made a comment about Ryle's margin of victory the past two weeks speaks volumes for the talent in the 4A schools in this year, but you gave the "song and dance" that it was due to down year in WKY.
-
I would agree but I don't think you will find many from the West that thought 4A in the west was real strong this year.
Yes, Ryle pounded Meade and Henderson this year but isn't this the best NKY team since 94 Boone? NO ONE and I will repeat NO ONE thought Henderson would make it to the semi state. I knew nothing about Meade except they didn't fair to well against Owensboro earlier in the year. WKY 4A was with out a doubt down this year so I don't think one season makes NKY football the class of 4A outside of Louisville.
This is an incorrect statement. A main reason to why no NKY 4A team had been able to make it to the state final the past couple of years it the fact that the NKY 4A district had been aligned to play the district with Trinity, Ballard, and Shelby Co. until just recently. Dixie and Boone Co. have had some pretty good 4A teams in the NKY the last couple of years, but getting past Trinity in the first three rounds was quite a tall task most of those years. In fact, there was only one time a NKY team beat Trinity in the playoffs and that was Dixie in 2004.

I have no clue what they heck you're saying here. It seems that "similar" has taken on a new meaning.
I agree. As much as this hurts me to say this about a CovCath player, but he may be the best kicker that I have ever seen on the prep level.
