  1. Hazard has a couple good hitters-Colby hoskins(Sr.)who's ob% last 2 yrs. has been over 530% and batting Avg.>450-he hasn't hit for power in the past ,But I expect this yr. he will not only continue to hit for avg.,But with his added size and off season preparation I expect to see some power.Jared Mehan(Sr.) has shown that he can hit with power and has good OB% and high Avg..AJ Spare(Sr.) can also hit for power and avg..Taylon Goodson showed promise last season and I know he has worked hard in the off season.

  2. I don't really have any way to describe this:http://www.somerset-kentucky.com/cnhi/somersetkentucky/homepage/local_story_324093249.html?keyword=leadpicturestory

    Just read it.

This is an amazing story, as well as very inspirational--it reminds us of the big picture--"the human elment"--it is great to play and win, but too many of us, including myself, get caught up in the excitment of the game and to easily forget that these are only kids-(our kids).Let's celebrate this kids victory over this very serious illness and wish him the best of recovery and that we will keep him in our prayers.

  3. Glad that UK had such a stellar year last year, but I cant say that I am not very disapointed that out of the 8 early signees , there was not the first kid that came from a Kentucky High School. Shame on the UK staff.

Couldn't have said it better myself, I hope they don't get blinded by their success last year and go looking elsewhere when there is great talent right here in KY.

  4. Cole and Deaton as good as advertised-good job briarjumpers and goodluck next week. They did a good job picking our secondary apart.I thought our secondary would be up for the challenge.Somerset did a good job getting Cole involved any way possible when intially he wasn't catching the ball.Ithink a lot of coaches should try diff. things with their best players to keep them involved.

  5. Somerset's record, definetly doesn't reflect their team. No offense to Hazard, but Harlan beat them 34-0 in the regular season, however, Hazard is playing way better ball than they did against the Dragons. I just don't see a way for Hazard to shut down the Cole and Deaton combo...atleast hardly anybody has yet.

    S-54 H-21

The Hoskins kid has shut down many great combos at his corner pos. to the point that no one will test him-I hope they (somerset) try and test him.It should make for some good football. He did a fantastic job against Danvilles Big wide receiver and had a pick against Pikeville in the earlier meeting this year (as well as the free safety- Mehan- had 2picks in the first meeting and aTD saving INT last wk. And all the other teams Hazard played stayed away from his side- but be careful on the other side even with a true freshman alt. with a Jr. they have also made some good plays aswell.Good Luck DAWGS.

  6. Not too bad, definately not sad and crying over a football game seems insane. Learn to win with respect. Act like you've won a big game before. I know Hazard has had big wins in the past but did their fans act this way before? BTW, Im not from Pikeville but do root for them when they arent playing Belfry and the truth is Pikeville is the better team. I live in Hazard and Ive had the opportunity to watch them a few times along with Pikeville and coming from an unbiased spectator, Hazard pulled off a miraculous upset. Probably couldnt do it again but once is all that matters.

I think some people need to learn to loose with respect and stop making excuses and living in the past -but if memory serves me correctly Hazard beat Pikeville last year in the reg. season and it was the same thing last yr.

  7. If these two teams played 10 times I would pick Pikeville by 21+ in 9 of those games. Unfortunately for the Panthers they picked the wrong time to play that "one" out of ten game.

Stop it , just stop it playing all this what "IF" stuff-if a frog had wings -well you know the story.

  8. WHO WON - THE BETTER TEAM THATS WHO!! AND YES IT CONT. TO SOUND LIKE SOUR GRAPES- IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO WON THE PREVIOUS GAMES ALL THAT MATTERS IS THE HERE AND NOW JUST TRY AND ACCEPT IT AND STOP HIDING BEHIND EXCUSES AND GIVE THE DAWGS THEIR MUCH NEEDED RESPECT FOR COMING IN AND BEATING your panthers on their home field, its not the best 3out of 5 its who has the highest score when the WHISTLE BLOWS AND THE "FAT LADY SINGS" !! YOU CAN TALK ABOUT ALL THE WINS IN THE PAST BUT IT DON'T GET YOU TO SOMERSET, DOES IT?

  9. It sounds like a bunch of crying and complaining and making of excuses that "PIKEVILLE or THE "VILLE" as I read about ALL last week got BEAT by A very good team , hungry and well prepared game plan of the BULLDOGS. When the "ville" is winning everything is great with the world-come on these are kids playing the game and they (hazard) had something to prove after not showing up to play 3 wks. ago.So I'm tired of hearing about how Pikeville was overlooking the DAWGS or how the coach didn't call the right plays--the fact of the matter is the DAWGS won and are heading to Somerset next wk. and the "ville" is staying home. The Pikeville kids played hard and they wanted to win also, but Hazard wanted it more that nite.Hazard could also question the coaches use of timeouts, and I have to admit I was one of those people in the stands doing just that, but I'm not the one with the teaching degree and coaching skills standing on the sidelines making those critical calls.Congats to the Hazard Dawgs players coaches, fans, families and congats to the Pikeville players, coaches and fans for a great season as well..LET'S ALL TRY TO REMEMBER THIS IS JUST A GAME AND THOSE PLAYERS OUT THERE ARE SOMEONES KIDS AND THAT THESE KIDS ARE OUR FUTURE.

  10. Colby Hoskins for Hazard is pound for pound one of the best players in the mtns., with great speed , great hands ,knowledge of the game ,he's a shutdown corner , a playmaker on "O" and special teams. He has played for 4 yrs.and has not missed a game due to injury. He has taken on all other teams best players bigger (i.e Danvilles receiver)and smaller, quicker, and stronger and has kept all them in check. I think he is one of the most underated and least publicised players in the mtns.

  11. I would like to be the first to congradulate the bulldogs on a very impressive win over the paintsville tigers.Their "D" stopped Pugh alnight and the "D" line stopped any chance of a running game and the secondary picked off Pugh 2x's.Paintsville is a good football team but on this nite Hazard wanted it more and their play showed what a lot of people did not expect,Congrats BULLDOGS.:dancingpa :dancingpa

  12. Hazard has a senior(Colby Hoskins) who has a lot of talent and is quick with probably the best hands of any receiver I've seen this year and is not afraid to go across the middle or up high to get the ball-although he is not your typically tall receiver he makes up for it with heart and desire to be the best at his position each time out.

  13. Hazard will have several seniors returning that has played since their soph. yr together-and it always seems that these players get left out of the conversations about who is the best in what pos..These kids have continued yr. after yr. to put up good #'s-take for instance Colby Hoskins(most likely the best all around athlete in the 14th region)plays not only SS and 3rd base he has become one of the better pitchers in the 14th region-his on base % is >500 the last 2Yrs. and batting avg. is > 350 last 2 yrs. and >30 stolen bases.Jared Meehan 2nd base and not only a threat to get on base but also with the long ball.AJ Spare is speedy outfeilder who when he gets his control will be one of the best releivers in the 14th region-I don't know if this is a rival school thing because all you here about is the county school kids or just a oversite of these kids -but these kids deserve their GAME to be recoginized.

  14. Congrats to Harlan on a good win, they played well on both sides of the ball, But Hazard did have some brite spots in the game that was called back or did not capitalize on such as the INT by Jared Meehan(his 3rd of the season) and the gutsy play of Colby Hoskins who had a 97yard kick off return and a 35yard pass rec. for a TD called back-he would run a play and come off the field and be sick and run back in for another play-so don't count the bulldogs out just yet.KEEP YOUR HEADS UP BULLDOGS.:thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

  15. We can argue this point all you want, but I haven't said anything to the individual, but you have your opinion and I have mine. You act like you know the coach very well, but I have also known him for a long time again my opinoin vs. yours-nobody is right and nobody is wrong. And apparently you don,t know me,because I have not just voiced my opinion at home apparently because you don't live with me and we are discussing it.And for it being a personal problem I never said it wasn,t,apparently it is my problem and you invited yourself into it by responding to a simple comment. And as far as we had ours let him have his -what in the world do you think I'm talking about ,if he doesn't get involved he can't have his, when he has done everything ever asked of him and more.I do appreciate your comments and do not find them offensive and look forward to more dialogue with you in the future.I support the BULLDOGS completely and all the players all I ask is the same in return not for me but this indivivdual.Have a good day and a better day tomorrow.
