Somerset played well tonight with the exception of a few costly turnovers late in the third.. They were ahead by 3 at the half, but after a run in the third Lincoln went up by, I think 5 points at the end of the third and kept the lead all through the 4th by knocking down free throws.. They had to shoot 90% from free throws.. Lincoln came out in the second half on fire! they can shoot lights out..

Lincoln easy... Somerset likes to slow the game down, where Lincoln likes to push the ball. i say the jumpers have trouble keeping up

Somerset has only lost one game at home all season long, and that was to Dunbar in the first game of the season, I can guarentee you Lincoln won't win this one easily..

Cawood missed a shot at the buzzer to beat Somerset in the tournament at London, and that was after Cawood lost one of its two best players to an injury. Cawood beat Somerset over the summer at full strength.

Yes but Somerset was also up by double digits that entire game and let cawood back in the game there at the end.. Jumpers werent playing very good basketball during that tourny and if they play again Somerset by 20 plus..

This should not come as any suprise. In the Shawn Thacker era at Somerset his teams have traditionally been bad after their elimination from the All A Classic. Perhaps too much emphasis is put on that tourney. I think the majority of Somerset fans would prefer to make a trip to Rupp than to win the All A Championship. Take a look at these numbers and see what you think.

More importantly only 3 12th Region appearances with a record of 0-3. Even the year that SHS went 5-2 post All A they were upset in the first round of the district. Something has to give. Nice win for Wayne County who should move into 3rd place in everyone's 12 Region Rankings--Somerset will be fortunate to win more than 1 game this season (Monticello and that one is on the road)--Rockcastle will probably be favored at home in the district.

Coach Thacker made an emphasis this year of not mentioning the All A untill came around.. Not a word was said about it, till the week before.. I will say they arent exactly playing the best basketball right now, but they do have the toughest schedule in the region for the rest of the regular season..

West Jessamine could have easily won the region title last year, they were slow getting started in the title game and that cost them more than anything in my opinion.

They got up 6-0 after 2 innings???? How is that slow getting started?

I think the loss against Pulaski got the Jumpers attention. I think Thacker has them ready to go and they upend the Cards 55-52.

That's a bold, bold prediction. I highly disagree. Watts is considered the best player in the region and some polls say Keeton isn't even the best player on his team.

Probably because Lincoln has 3 of the top players in the region.. And according to the Cats paws Ryan young is considered the best player in the region.. I think it will be a great game that I wish I could make it to but I think Lincoln wins in a close one..

These 2 match up in the first round of the all a....Somerset is making their 8th straight trip, and Murray is making their 1st in 15 years...Anyone have info or predictions?

What I didnt hear was anyone say anything about Somerset or Coach Thacker, I attended the majority of games at the 'Hoopin it up' and the offiating was terrible..

Final from Monticello. This one was never in doubt, the Jumpers led by 22 at the half and cruised to their 8th straight 12 Region All A Title.

The Jumpers were fun to watch in this one.. They passed it well and played great team basketball, the game may not have been in doubt, but they continued to play the right way, they could have scored a hundred tonight if the coaches would have let them..

Wow, I didn't see that. Wayne travels to Boyle and dismantles the Rebels (atleast by the final score.) Boyle took Lincoln into overtime - but the Rebels and the Patriots is a huge rivalry game.

 

Outside of McCreary and Lincoln, this is wide-open.

Fact of the matter is, he doesnt like to see Somerset Succeed.. And that 2-3 zone your talking about, Somerset played a 2-3 zone for maybe a fourth of the game, most the time it was man to man and they held west to 45 points so clearly they did do an "excellent" job didnt they, Banker?

What exactly is your reasoning for disliking Somerset? because you having something against the Jumpers is about the only point your making.. Do you even come to any of the games?

10 cupcakes? West Jessamine is not a cupcake... West beat McCreary and they have been playing good basketball all year... The Jumpers won 3 district games including against Pulaski which if you've ever been around, is NEVER easy for either team no matter the talent level...The won the Queen City Classic, beating Louisville Southern a very athletic team that plays in a tough region...Then Grayson County who is no push over... I dont believe your giving Somerset enough credit!

Sure did, the Jumpers play several different defenses this year, but mainly a tough man to man.. With all the athleticism and talent the coaching staff decided to change it up and it seems to be working...
