  1. I'd say that Pendleton Co. needs to win some games this year. Since their good run a few years ago, they've kind of been a pushover.

I don't see it. PC won the district last year after going through more adversity than any team should have to. The games that I attended the players seemed to really leave it all on the court every game for Coach Simms and his staff. Now, I don't know what the future brings but everything I've heard points towards a bright future for PC basketball.

  2. I am not sure what everyone in Bracken County expects out of any coach. According to the winning percentages posted by AHSPanther23, there have only been two coaches with a winning percentage higher than 50% in 66 years. How many winning seasons has Bracken had in those 66 years.

  3. Thanks for correcting me milfordflash. You are correct that Mac coaches baseball. Got in a hurry on that one. The big question to ask will be how will the new coach fit into the community. Coaches have been run out of small communities such as this when they are from out of town, because they just don't fit into the community according to those long time community citizens. As I read here, he will be run out soon.

  4. I will stand up for 10th region fan as to the comparison he is trying to make. He is not comparing Persinger to Whitaker. He is comparing the fact that a 10th region coach has coached fast pitch and basketball and had success. In order to do this you must have great assistant coaches and that is what helps Whitaker.

As for Chad, he has shown he can develop a program. He has developed the fast pitch program incorporating middle and high school athletes and has developed basically a feeder system for his high school program. He would definitely be around to develop the basketball program from the elementary school up to the high school. Bracken needs someone who will develop the program for the future using what he has now. Chad would give the program some consistency and not use it as a stepping stone unlike others and I am sure Coach Breeze is using Bracken to begin his career, which happens all too often in Bracken Co. Guarantee Coach Breeze is here no longer than 3 years and he doesnt develop any kind of feeder program to help. Chad has proven he can win at the high school level and middle school level. He was a JV/Varsity assistant under Jon Wirth in the mid to late 90's in the girls program. My sources tell me Wirth was contacted Monday morning after Fite resigned about the job but turned it down. Wirth was also contacted by Kentucky Christian University about becoming their next head basketball coach. Perhaps if he took the Bracken job we wouldnt be having this discussion.

  5. Went to check this one out...a cold, windy game that saw Campbell's bats heat up in a hurry. They continue their roll from the weekend and seem to be playing well right now. From what I have heard Pendleton County has a VERY young squad. The outfield today for most of the game was 2 freshmen and an 8th grader. It will be interesting to see how the young squad responds as the year plays out.

Campbell has Calvary Christian tomorrow and Pendleton takes on Highlands.

  6. 05 Pendleton featured nine players that played in college:

    Keaton Belcher- Belmont

    Joey Verax- Transy

    Mason O'Hara- Thomas More

    Pat Elliott- Berea

    Terry Davis- Union

    Tyler Mains- North Greenville (SC)

    Jon Elrod- Gerorgetown

    Kane Belcher- Pikeville

    Abe Crozier- Kentucky Christian

This team went 29-5, only lost 1 in region game, made the finals of the 5/3rd, and rolled through the 10th Region tourney before losing to PRP in overtime at the Sweet 16. They also beat eventual state champion South Laurel by 20+. Without a doubt a special group!!

  7. First off congrats to Montgomery County...they are a good basketball team. Good luck against Scott!

But I just want to give some love to the three Pendleton County seniors...Jimmy Booth, Richard Harden, and Derrick Myers. Those guys stuck it out and were rewarded with an amazing run that led to a district title. They really seemed to step up and lead a team that could have been torn apart with all the adversity they faced. Great job guys and you'll always be remembered for adding another year to the district title banner.
