  1. I don't think so. Trinity was playing MUCH better in November than they played in September. X peaked in September. I won't claim that I predicted the Trinity win, but I did think it would be a close game.

To answer the question of the thread, Trinity 18 x 7 in 1966.

TA, I have to disagree with on that statement. We beat badly a pretty darn good Warren Central team in the semi's (62-12), we just beat a very good Manual team fairly handily (33-18) in the second round. We had one lack of focus game against JH, but I believe we were peaking at the right time. I believe state final result was a little bit above a mild upset.

  2. The simple fact is that Bracken County doesn't compete against Trinity or x. If you want size classes for all sports it is fine with me. There are a lot of other factors that go into level competition. Prop 20 doesn't address them. DeSales, in Louisville, doesn't have near the resources of Trinity or x, yet Prop 20 would put them out as it would Portland Christian School. Male has as good or better resources available, yet prop 20 would leave them in. It is a bad idea. Hurting private schools may not be your aim, but I firmly believe that it is the aim of many of the school administrators. Some communities put a great deal of resources into all aspects of their schools, including athletics. Some communities don't. The solution is not to ban the ones that put in the resources. There is a rule of behavior that says that when you punish an activity, you get less of it. If you penalize schools for putting resources into their schools, you will get schools that put in fewer resources. I'll give you an example. For as long as I can remember, St X has played football on someone else's field. Trinity has built a great new stadium and guess what, now X will build one. If X had taken a Prop 20 attitude they would have demanded that Trinity be made ineligible for the playoffs since the new facility gave them an unfair advantage.

TA, not to change the subject, I hope you are trying to make a point with that example for the discussion and not trying to imply that the construction of our new sports complex is a result of Trinity adding on to their football field, because that would have to be another discussion.

  3. I believe this may differ between Trinity and X. I believe that upon taking the placement test @ Trinity, it is assumed the student will be attending. You may be right upon the timing, though. They (the family), may have to meet with the placement counselor before lifting begins.

Rockmom, Diogenes is correct according to X's procedure, they are considered a "student" at St.X after receiving their acceptance letter. Once the student's receive their letters, the incoming student will start receiving the same privileges as the other students, therefore able to begin lifting weights at the school. If that isn't the requirement at T, you might be misinformed or it might be an issue for T. My understanding, if I have been informed correctly, this is the rule. The letters are not sent out until February, and are received by the school in March.

Also, another reason for waiting til acceptance letter, and it was brought up by All Work No Play, is the insurrance issue. The school can't cover anybody who gets injuried using the weightroom who is not a student.

  4. I think that it is obvious that they didn't design, or fit them for rings. T-Shirts? Hoodies? Don't know, don't care. As far as the party/reception, we had one planned when we played against Boone County in 1994, WIN OR LOSE. Obviously it turned out to be much more enjoyable as we were the victors. All of this truely doesn't matter, both teams had brialliant seasons in their own right, we got them THIS TIME, they'll get us some other time.

The only difference is that I thought we were getting better, little by little as the season progressed, and I thought that X had peaked already, but it was still almost enough to beat us again.

RockPride, I truly agree with you on the "both teams had brialliant seasons in their own right" statement, but as much as C. Glaser's name has been thrown around with these rumors and other rumors, people would like it stopped. I DO CARE, and I understand why you don't, but like someone from another thread that you might be familar with posted "if you don't care, don't post". We are members of a X family, as you are at T, if a brother is getting beat up, another brother is going to set in.

  5. Thanks for clarifying... that rumor has been flying around. Can you speak to other such whispers..... that there were t-shirts behind the bench ready to be passed out... that there were hoodies back at the school for the boys, and that a party with all the trimmings was prepared too?

I know from a source very close to C. Glaser that there were not any hoodies at school for the team. Also, about the party, I heard rumblings for the kids that there would be a party at one of the kid's house after the game, but that is normal planning for kids to say "If we win...".

I want to thank ONEILL3B for starting this thread, these rumors get way out of hand. I believe the ring rumor was started (my opinion) because "I heard from a good source" Balfour was at school that week taking orders and sizes for Senior Rings which juniors receive in the springtime.

    Thanks again ONEILL3B :thumb:

  6. As for c walsh not hurting my feelings , I don,t think so I've known him quite a while myself we graduated the same year from our respective schools and his name is not c its Todd so maybe I've known him a little longer thank you for your thoughts though

    C. is for "Coach", I use Coach out of respect, some people might not know his first name. In terms of knowning longer, that's a little petty, but for your information I coached at X when he was playing and also when he started his career at X.

  7. You guys keep saying that Trinity did not score on your best players I think that they did score on your first team atleast once, But Iknow that does not make up 32 points. The first half of that game Trinity was right there they were only down14 at half that first drive of the second half ST.X had took the wind out of Trinity's sails (well what was left),A couple of plays and this game could have been different. I talked to Todd Walsh (st.x def. coach) after the game he told me that he was worried at half ,Then of course you have to play two halfs. I think Trinity has improved alot the last 9 weeks and I think they can make up the difference in points since their last meeting. If Trinity keeps its composier ST.X 's secondary is not the best and maybe we can exploite that a little better this time. I say T 31 X 27

You are right 86...T did score on the 1st team D one of the times, but it was after the 2nd team D allowed T to get inside X's 20. C.Walsh likes putting the 1st team back into the game to work on specific situations and also to challenge the D. I agree, T has improve since the last meeting and X's has to bring their A-game, but I also believe X has improved just as much. They had a couple of lapses in the JH game, but they survived. What I like from that outcome is you saw a more focused group of Def. backs in the WC game against a team with almost the same talent on offense. This new focus and coaches have sometime to make corrections will be a big plus (example, last years Moeller game, big turn around on defense). I want to give the X's coaching staff an overdue "pat on the back", I believe they are one of the best, if not the best, at making halftime corrections and adjustments (another example, 1999 Hoptown game). I see a different game this time, it will be closer, but I still see X winning 27 - 14.

As for the comment about C. Walsh being worried...I known C. Walsh for years, he probably said that to ease your pain from the loss.

  8. What is a JV team? I am from Henderson and I am not sure what that is?

JV Team is the Junior Varsity team. It is made up of players from grades 11 and below. It's purpose is to give players who are not starting or playing a lot for the varsity team the game experience. St.X uses mainly sophmores, but in some cases where a junior is not seeing much playing time on the varsity level but coaches think maybe he can help next year, will play some JV games.

  9. After attending the team Thanksgiving ceremony at St. X. this morning, I am that much more convinced that this year's Tigers are on a mission and will not be denied....St. X. 31 - Warren Central 21.

:fire: :fight: TIGERS BECOME DRAGON SLAYERS!! :fight: :fire:

I also attended the Thanksgiving prayer service. I never thought I would see another X team as closeknit and focused as last year's team or even 2003, but these seniors were sophmores when the 2003 team barely missed. This team has learned from the past 2 years how to focus and dedicate themselves to a goal. I am also very much convinced

  10. Watch WDRB weather tonight. Friday high-23 low-13 snow flurries.

It's very hard to be a weatherperson in the Ohio Valley. I checked out http://www.accuweather.com for Bowling Green. It's posting for Friday high:52 and Low:32 with partly sunny skies during the day. When it gets down to the freezing level a couple of degrees does not make a difference. But accuweather.com has no memtion of snow flurries from thurs-sat.

  11. Even though I was on the winning side, I guess I'm kind of old school, I like have personalities behind the PA. That's what gives part of the atmosphere for the home team. Now, if the KSHAA has a rule for HOSTING a playoff game, they need to send out reminder to hosting schools of items they would like the PA to follow. I wasn't at the Male-JH game, so I can't comment on his performance, but at the X game I didn't have a problem. During regular season I don't see a big issue (with some limits), but they should be notified by KSHAA to tone it down during the playoffs

  12. I just spoke to both Western Kentucky University and Warren Central at about 10:50 a.m. Louisville time and received mixed signals. Western informed me that the game would not be played at their campus. Warren Central informed me that the final decision had not been made and advised me to call back tomorrow.

Game time has been announced by X's Athletic Dept, it will be at WC at 8:00pm EASTERN TIME

  13. The weather could play a big role in tomorrow's game. With temps approaching freezing the ball gets slick and becomes harder to hold on too. This will be more of a factor for JH's slight of hand wing-T offense, (which they run very well), than St. X's straight ahead style of football. If St. X can hang on to the ball I think they can control the clock and get a few break-away TDs for the win.

I believe you have that backwards. If you're saying the temperature will effect the ball control and make the ball harder to hold on to, then running the wing-t with all the "slight of hand" and cris-crossing would be a disadvantage vs straight ahead running. I believe X has the edge in this area.

  14. If the game goes deep in the 4th quarter and it is close- give a huge edge to St.X. They are big and very, very deep. It takes a toll by 4th quarter. Also the St.X kicking game is as good as it gets in high school football.Edge goes to X in that department as well. If JH is to win then they need to sprint to a big early lead then hang on.If St.X goes up early then kiss this game good bye.

I agree completely, with the weather prediction, field position is a big key and X's kicking game is one of the best. But Xtiger69, if we are down early don't give up remember 1999 Hoptown game, similar weather and opponent.

DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS -- GO TIGERS

    X - 24

    JH - 14

  15. Coach Mike Glaser at St. Xavier.

Possibly the first back to back state championships in 30 years for the school.

Possible undefeated post season on top of a undefeated regular season.

    Phenominal life time record.

Never before coach of the year.

    Not in hall of fame.

    I nominate Coach Glaser.

.....and yes I am biased so my second choice is Bullitt East Coach Settles.

I agree with the nomination of C. Glaser...people might disagree with his offensive style and might think X has the talent at every position each and every year, but they don't see what goes on off the field and during each practice and how he connects with the players. C. Glaser and his coaching staff win games in the off-season, especially with the wieghtroom and the kid's desire to be good. That is from C. Glaser's ability to motivate. If you are nominating C. Glaser, I would add C. Glaser/C. Walsh (or assistant coach of the year), no one ever questions X's defense.
