  1. No the FTJFL does not run the same plays as the high school.

They change their offense at the high school level to better suit their incoming talent. Gino ran the spread, he was not running the jet sweep that they switched to take advantage of their speed. Now they have changed to the shotgun counter trap type offense to take advantage of their current types of players.[/QUO

    Thanks , my bad.

I still think that if the Boone county Pee Wee League would try to develope Qb's , Wr's, Db's and kickers it would benifit Boone, Conner, and Ryle.:thumb:

  2. I agree with Dandy's answer. Ryle has a solid, but certainly not a spectacular running game. Yes, they can win most - but not all - of their games here in NKY by just pounding the ball, but they don't have the type of rushing attack to advance them in the playoffs. They have a good QB and some solid wideouts and I think they can develop a respectable passing game, but they need more reps to get comfortable/good at it. Where better to give it a shot than in a game that, without trying to be disrepectful to Conner, they know they can win handing off on every play. That doesn't really get you ready to face stronger opponents, either here nor outside of NKY. Does Coach Warner feel that way? I couldn't honestly tell you. I know a lot of the fan base does. So maybe it's just wishing thinking on our part. :p

BTW, I'm not predicting Ryle throws it 30 times or anything, but it would be pleasant to see us at least complete double digits in passes.

I do find it odd that there is not one team from NKY ranked in the top 25 passing in Kentucky.

Running the ball is all most of these kids are taught in the boone county pee wee league. It is very hard to develope a good Qb and wide reciever group.

That is why the Northern Ky teams are ranked so low in passing. I Know that Ryle has been trying for years to get a passing game going. It needs to start

sooner than the high school level. Highlands pee wee league runs the extact same plays as the High School does. Maybe that is why they are so sucessful!!!!! ;)

  3. Does anyone know the situation that occured with the fan?

A Ryle fan insulted the coaching abilty of Coach Warner to his Parents.

End of story. What one Fan does NOT reflect. the opion or the attitude of the whole fan base.

It is so easy to be an arm chair quaterback. Loseing part of the game. What you do after a loss is the diference between good coaching and bad.

  4. Tonight SK played inspired football and Ryle was probably looking at this as an easy win. As a 16-18 year old kid you look at how you just beat a team two weeks ago (NCC) who beat the team you were playing tonight by a 30 point margin and you have a recipe for disaster. Of course you can look at our beloved Bengals this past weekend to see the same thing with Millionaire professional athletes so it not entirely unexpected to see this happen tonight.

Give congrats to SK where it is due. The Hopperton kid was all over the field and it seemed they were always calling his name on the defensive side of the ball. I know this kid has a lot of heart and has "the faith to move mountains" and believed his team could win this tough battle. Keep up the good work.

As for Ryle, some struggles with penalties and fumbles are what can lead to defeats. Is this a result of coaching as some suggest? I do not think so. I think more of the frustration of being in an unexpected battle causing some kids to lose themselve mentally. It happens all of the time in college and Pro's. A coach can not control all of that. I will trust the coach if he stays with a kid under these circumstances, especially since I know that Coach Warner (and his staff) tries to treat his kids with respect and tries to teach life lessons along the way. Believe me when I say, the kids who got the penalties will be less likely to do so again in the future.

Unfortunately another issue will be the terrible behavior of a Ryle Fan who makes all Ryle Fans look bad. What gives a parent the right to use profanity at a high school game and be beligerent enough to cause the head coach to be concerned about the safety of his family? Not a good thing for your 8, 9, 10 year old kids to witness as your family is leaving a hard fought HIGH SCHOOL game that is supposed to be about friendly competition and life lessons for kids who are most likely never going to play sports after high school.

But the sun will come up tomorrow and hopefully all involved will learn a great lesson:

1.SK believes that they can come together as a team and compete with the best.

    2. Ryle players realizing that you must always come prepared mentally to play your very best.

    3. Parents to enjoy their kids playing sports and relish the time you have them. Sports are not life and death, so enjoy the moment and use it to enjoy the thrill of victory or provide (as Mr. Cunningham on Happy Days did with his son Richie after he missed the crucial shot in basketball game) a lifesaver to your son who is dejected after a tough loss!

May God Bless All Who Were Involved In The Game Tonight--players, cheerleaders, band member, parents and officials.

    THANK YOU,

for the insightfull post. And a happy day's flash back.:thumb:

  5. :thumb: A source from the game also told me that both the coaching staff and the players were somewhat overlooking the next 3 games, and practice this week in Union was pretty soft...

who ever told you that does not know what they are talking about Ryle practices every day for at least an HOUR AND HALF LONGER THAN ALL THE OTHER TEAMS IN BOONE COUNTY.

  6. Raiders pretty much beat themselves, four turnovers and four big penalties pretty much stopped all of their drives. Congrats to SK, they played hard.

Don't know if I would have thrown on 4th down and two when the drive was successful to that point but I guess Coach Warner saw everybody up and thought he could sneak on in.

I believe that Ryle is trying to get away from running the ball 99.9% of game. It is hard to change a style of football that has been taught for over the last 30 years, and still is taught ( in the boone county pee wee league). The play calling did not cost Ryle the game. Poor blocking, ball handling , and passing of the ball and dumb penalties did. Ryle will rebound from this and will get all these things fixed. One loss is not the end of the world.

  7. How about #25 of Ryle taunting the coach of SK on the sideline and walking towards him and getting a personal foul penalty. He goes out for a play or two and then right back in the game.

Sounds like what many of you have said about Ryle and Warner are true.

I don't believe that any of the coaches on Ryle staff encourge there palyers to taunt other teams coachs. If a player on Ryles team did this, they did it on there own accord.

  8. From what I have heard from a few people close to the ryle program, is that the coaching staffs arrogance really contributed to the loss last night...

Is it arrogance to believe in your team? Can the coaches carry the ball or block or tackle for there team? I don't think so.

All the coahes can do with this game is to make it a learning experience fr there team, and come out and play better the next week.

  9. I know Conner will probably lose upwards of 500-600 kids to Cooper. Not sure if Ryle will be losing that many or not. What's the cutoff for 6a? I'm not sure if all 3 schools will stay in 6a or not.

Sorry, i meant that it would hurt the Ryle football team the most.

but it really depends on the new district lines.
