  1. No one picked SV, yet they almost won the game! So what does everyone think is the problem with Paintsville?????

One thing that may have made this closer than it should have been might be that Bundy wasn't there tonight. Does anyone know where he was? Also, I can't explain it, but the defense for some reason just doesn't appear to be there. The boys are getting the fouls called on them, but.....I don't know. I think I will just stop there. I will say that our Offense has looked alot better the last couple of games. Maybe coach is just fixing things one at a time before tounament time. He is the one win almost 500 wins, not us. So he should know what he is doing. Good win tonight Tigers! Just keep working hard! We're all still behind you! :ylsuper: :dancingpa

  2. They were completely out of sync from the tip off until the buzzer. Not a good performance at all tonight, in any aspect, from any player. They all looked bad. Leslie was dominating defensively, and Barnett played great. But rather than talk about how bad Central played, Thumbs up to how well PBurg played.

    Great game PBurg. Impressive win.

You took the words out of my mouth. They just didn't look to be in any sort of sync at all. I have been reading a lot about P-burg lately. 1st time I have seen them play this year. I was impressed. I thought they looked pretty good tonight. Not only is the 57th going to be a good touney, Looks like the 15 is as well! Should be fun!

  3. Well here they are! Let's hear it!

    :ylsuper:

  4. You're the only one who has came close to my thoughts on the game. Johnson County has a lot to be proud of at both schools. Here you have two teams, who are heated rivals and haven't met their full potential this season. Although heated rivals, I was a witness to one of the cleanest games in history. Both teams fought hard, and had a shot at the game late in the fourth. JC hit free throws down the stretch to put this one away. The refs were pretty much non existent all night, they let the kids play. Although they let the kids play, the kids played tough but not too aggressive. I think in the 4th both teams combined had 6 or 7 fouls. I have to commend Coach Starnes on the job he did coaching. I know someone mentioned earlier that he coached to win, I think they were referring to how he called every offensive play and a lot of Johnson Central's points came off of running these plays. Rice had a great game and exploited Paintsville's weaknesses. Not only do I have to compliment the players, coaches and refs but also the fans. The fans from both schools kept it clean and weren't chanting anything derogatory about players or teams. Not only do both of these schools excell in their districts in all sports but they also have a lot to be proud in the academic department. Both score high on testing and have great teachers. There's just a lot to be proud of in Johnson County. Congrats to Johnson Central on their win. Tigers keep your heads up, you played hard and I hope you continue to do so.

  5. This was a really good high school basketball game. Big win for the Eagles. I have seen a lot of post on here lately giving the officials down the road. I must say that I thought that they did a really good job tonight. Of course they are always going to miss one or two, but IMO it was a very consistant game. A great game to watch tonight. Can't wait till next time! I hope my Tigers can pull the next one out!

  6. I think this game could become ugly very fast. Nobody can play at Paintsville and win. You have to beat not only the Tigers but the officials also!!Seems like the Tigers have the officials in their hip pockets at that school.I watched the Cardinals play there a while back and the Tigers were allowed to push, shove, and do what ever they wanted to do.I will say that SC played their worst game of the season. They could not get any shots to drop. The fans at Paintsville are rude and very disrespectful.Heck we even had Paintsville fans sitting on the visitors side of the gym making comments. The fans that sit on the stage by the visitors bench are the most unsportsman like fans of all!! They will talk directly to players and coaches during the game. The police will escort fans from the opposing team out of the gym for getting loud and making comments but, will let the Paintsville faithful threaten to beat people without a second thought.I hope JC wins!!!!

So it was the worst game they had played this season and they couldn't get any shots to drop. OH! and the refs cheated and the fans are rude. BLA BLA BLA BLA! It's the same ole thing every time some one get's beat by Paintsville, whether it is at home or on the road. BLA BLA BLA! BMR has the refs in his back pocket! BLA BLA BLA! As for the fans on the stage. I was on the stage that night and only one fan did what you said and it was handled. As for the other fans you are wrong! Now as for players and coaches, unless a fan comes on to the floor, a player and a coach should not become verbally involved with a fan at all, that goes for all teams. Have you ever heard the old saying "sticks and stones"? Apparently not. And Sidelines got suspended for defending a player? Funny.

Sorry about the side track there fellas. I just hate when people start slinging slander. :irked: Back to the thread. As I said in an earlier post:

    Tigers 72

    Eagles 62

Oh ya just a reminder. Don't wear a jacket it will be HOT in there tonight.

    :fire:

So quite a few nice players have played on the field! This is only the players that were actually on the Paintsville roster. NOT counting the ones that may have played there from other teams.

I couldn't find any stats for the 1984 season. I really don't remember them playing that year, but I could be wrong. If anyone else may know maybe you could help me out.

  8. Ron Blume, the states leading rusher. Too small to play d-1 and doesnt have enough moves. Great speed and good high school RB but IMO he will be a good fit for a NAIA school or D-2.

That's what they said about Warrick Dunn also. But, I hope he does good no matter where he goes.

  9. He is not impressive, just a product of 1 great game and A LOT of HYPE.

He is a very avg. player, not real quick or athletic, above avg. shooter but if you get physical and he DOES NOT got the FT line 8-12 times a game he can't score .

   :jump: :jump: :jump:

    I STILL CAN'T QUIT LAUGHING!

ONE GAME HYPE? You must NOT have read about, watched or listened to any of the games prior to that ONE GAME.

BUT, that is your opinions, Apparently this must have been the first time you have seen him play. Every kid has an off night every once in a while. The thing that makes him so good is that, you usually don't see him score. You will sit and watch a hole game and when you see the stats he had 25 to 30 points. Maybe one of those will be a three. And NO they are'nt mostly from the foul line. What the kid has, is called a mid-range jumper. NOT just a glorified 3-point shot. Also Vanhoose, Grimm, Bundy & Pugh ussually throws in their share. The Tigers just couldn't get in a rythm tonight. I have found that when watching any basketball game to not judge a player just from one performance, because the next time they play they will make you look like you have no idea what you are talking about. Also you don't get mentioned as All State as a very avg. player. I must say great job to the Dragons coach for having a game plan and sticking to it. He kept his players under controll and didn't allow them to start and try running with the Tigers. He slowed the game down and stayed with it no matter the score and his plan worked. Good win for the Drangons and good luck on their season. Good Luck to the Tigers on the next game at the WYMT!

  12. In the 70s, 80s & early 90s. It was one of the best in the state. Considering the Yankees built it for them. It has slipped a little in recent years, but is still a very nice field. Would like to see a sun screen brought back to center field and maybe cover the seats behind home plate. I would say it is the second best in the region behind only Pikeville. There is an idea, turf it up baby. LOL! It is almost that time again, can't wait to hear the leather a poppin'!

  13. First of all in the Boyd Co game, when the players came off the bench was when a JC player said a racial slur at the Boyd Co player. I realize the situation needed to be dealt with in a better way, but the kid just really took offense to it. Besides, the way the officials were calling the game, really let up to alot of hightened tensions between both teams near the end of the game. Would be curious to hear if it was the same crew calling both games.

This is accually a JC & MC post. But, I don't even have a dog on the JC bench. I have know all the players and the coaches, except coach Starnes, since they were all knee high to a grass hopper. And! I can not see any of them stooping to the level of say anything racial! The coaching staff at JC would never go for it and the kid would be handled interanly. ie... suspended! PLease, we ALL (that is anyone in KY) get stereo typed enough in this area. Great win for the Eagles and can't wait to see them and the Tigers go at it next week. Should be a Great game!

  14. I don't think this poll really means alot I think they just throw these teams in there not really knowing much about it. Im not trying to take anything away from the teams that are on it im just saying that I think it isn't very accurate.

Well it is kinda like any other one that is out there. You are there until you are knocked off. I still like it though. Makes for some interesting conversations. There are a lot of teams in the mountains that probably deserve to be there. But a big win here and there will put them there.

Kudos to WYMT for making high school basket even more fun! :dancingpa
