For the size of dixie we should have had 40+ kids trying out for varsity alone. I do think the new sports complex at dixie will not only get new kids to try out but also bring us kids who may have chose another school otherwise.( I am talking all sports)
-
Dixie has a large school but such a small turn out for baseball, I am hoping that the new field will get a few more boy's to try out next year. I know we have some great ball player's who just dont try out.
-
You are correct but he did get on three times in the game, and if I am not mistaken, Dixie had what 3/4 hits total. So Nichols to me was on the bases more that any other Dixie player was all day. He is without a doubt Dixie best player.....an outstanding pitcher....
Your preaching to the choir here,I know Nichols is a great player. I think one of the best pitchers in Northern Kentucky. I am just sorry he can not pitch again tonight as well. I know you need good pitching to win and we are not as deep as CC. Our boy's do have alot of heart and some good Senior leadership so lets go out and win us a game boy's!!......................GOOD LUCK!!!
-
Nichols went 0 for 1 with 3 walks so while he did not hit us to victory he did however pitch us to one! We knew with Nichols we would take the first game. Good luck tonight, lets hope for the same outcome!Best game of the day, and Dixie should have won it in regulation except for the Right Fielder dropping a easy third out fly ball....Both teams I swear tried to give the other team the game in the extra innings by not executing bunts or poor base running. Dixie pitcher Nichols pitch and hit Dixie to this victory. HHS could didn't execute plays with men in scoring position but I have to give Dixie's pitcher reason for HHS not getting the job done. Why with Allen on first with no outs don't they steal then bunt him over to third so the winning run is on third with only 1 out was beyond me in I think the top of the seventh or eight.
Who does Dixie pitch tomorrow against CovCath? My guess is either Nutini or Neihaus will go for CovCath. Again outstanding game by Nickols (sp) of Dixie.....
Was Allen okay today? Taking him out after pitching only two innings was I think the turning point in the game for Dixie....
-
You're right. If Highlands leaves the second pitcher in the game they're playing tonight. I think he pitched three innings. No hits and two walks. Dixie was having trouble with this pitcher. Apparantly that wasn't the plan though. Good luck Dixie.
We had nothing to lose in this game as no one but Dixie and their fans gave them a chance at winning this game. Good luck tonight boy's!

Nichols went all 8 and only threw 98 pitches! What a game he threw, no walks and 7 strike outs. Big Joe Schaeper went 2 for 4 and Cahill hit a double then Labrano hit a single with bases loaded to win it in the bottom of 8. Dixie you should be really proud of yourselves!
-
Everyone is saying what a great pitcher York is , If Hammons is not your #1 I can't imagine how good York is. Dixie was having trouble getting around on him.I hope you guy's give Ryle fits!

Jealous?? I bet your glass is alway's half empty!! It's high school baseball for goodness sake get over it!!Well...........If people can have the opinion that Dixie is a regional contender why can't we have an opposite opinion and say no they are not. Now if I said Silver Grove is not a regional contender in the 10th would you be ripping and saying something? Trust me nobody is happier than the Bluebirds right now except Beechwood with the regional draw. The district is a bad district plain and simpler. Just like some districts (CC, Beechwood, HC) is a loaded district except for Holmes. Dixie is pretty much a lock for the region every year. IF they traded places with Holmes Dixie would be the worst team in the district. -
Frequency, is there anywhere online to find out what the other games are, or do u know any other games and times?
I only got news of Dixie's......Sorry
-
I have seen several people mention how weak the district is this year. I don't think it matters which team won. 3 teams with losing records in the region doesn't speak well to some of the districts up here but that's the way it is.
Why don't we just tell the boy's they stink and they are losers because they only won the 34th districts! These are just young boy's we are talking about not the majors!! These boy's did not put the districts together, they did however win their district and should be proud, and not made to feel like it was no big deal.I am proud of all the champs no matter what your district! Good luck to all teams in the regionals.

For some reason Dixie never gets any respect, What a shame!

Dixie play's Highlands at 3:00

Your right,Hammons did pitch a heck of a game! I was impressed by the boy's on Ludlows team and wish them good luck on Monday.Well first of all congrats to Dixie on a good comeback win. They were down 9 to 5 with 2 outs in the last inning to come back to win. Ludlow should have won this game, but I believe a coaching mistake cost them. Daniel Hammons for Ludlow was pitching a great game, and Dixie had very few hard hits off of him. Yet while only giving up 4 runs through 6 innings and I think only maybe 2 earned, the coach for Ludlow took out Hammons. The guys who came in after him had control problems and walked alot of Dixie guys and gave them a chance to come up with a hit once the bases were loaded by walks. Ludlow had the game won and let it slip away. However I tip my hat to Dixie because they never quit and kept fighting to the end! -
Hey we are just happy to be here and looking foward to playing on Monday! We may not have the pitching this year but our 2 best are Juniors this year and we have some young talent moving up next year so our pitching will be great next year.Good luck Dixie and no matter what your still District champs this year!!
-
I don't think Dixie strikes fear into any of these guys. I mean lets face it....the district is not exactly tough with the exception of a game against York. They didn't see him so again a cakewalk district. I would be more concerned about being a district winner and having to face York than facing Dixie.
Dixie beat York 7-0 at Ludlow May 7th,Not sure why so nasty we were just saying way to go Dixie on your District game. Anyone can be beaten on any given day no matter who is pitching! That being said I will take Nichols any day of the week.Dixie you should be proud, you are the District champs!!:thumb:
-
Congrats to Dixie for a hard fought come from behind victory! The boy's never gave up and played hard till the very end. Great job guy's you should be very proud. Some of the highlights in the win over Villa Madonna and Ludlow were Nichols & Cahill"s pitching and a 2 run homer by big Joe Schaeper, Lubrano going 4 for 7 and everyone getting at least a hit or a walk that ended up in a run. This was a true team effort!:dancingpa

Dixie play's Monday night against Villa Madonna in the district game. That will be the last game. I heard Turkeyfoot will be building a new school or addition in that area, not sure though.
-
Turkeyfoot's field is looking really nice this year and they have a really nice concession stand. They are serving lots of hot food along with a large varity of snacks and drinks. We have been to several games their and they have an announcer as well.I think it will be a great place to have the championship! Good luck to both teams.
-
I think Dixie's field is looking really good! Coach Maxwell puts alot of time into that field and it show's. Lets not confuse the surroundings with the shape of the field.
-
I saw a score book and the count is correct. 139 pitches.
You are mistaken.
-
First of all it was not that many pitches, believe me when I say Matt's dad knows how many it was! To imply Matt's dad and our Coaches would ever do anything to harm a player's arm is just sad! Matt was throwing just as hard if not harder at the end and wanted to go the distance.Great win Dixie!!
-
It was good to see the boy's never gave up never got down and came back to win big! Every player on the team had a hand in this win. Good job Dixie keep up the good work.
-
Hit him in the face with what? I thought he got him with his shoe when his foot flew up in the air.Looked like an accident to me.If it happened the way you saw it from the stands I would think the umpires who were on the field would have made a different call. I hope EJ is ok and back real soon.
-
Congrats Dixie! Rottinghaus gets the win for this one with Nichols going 2-4 with 2 home runs and Shields going 3-4 and Schaeper going 2-4. Hope Scotts catcher is ok he caught a heck of a game.

Dixie's first baseman hit 2 that would have been out in most fields just last night. One the center fielder made a great catch on and one that produced a double,it hit the wall.CC is solid no doubt about it, Good luck to them tonight against Ryle I hope they come out on top.
