  1. Some of you get it and some of you don't. We are talking about a state championship. It is supposed to be hard to accomplish. Why water it down to make some kids feel good. Be happy knowing you worked as hard as possible to accomplish however far you get, but realistically, one should be the best of the best to be a legitamate state championship.

If one wants to feel dominance over their particular area, schedule rival teams, or be proud of a district championship. So you win your district, that means you are the best in that area. What does it matter if you win a diluted state championship? Nothing, but it means everything if you win a real one.

What is wrong for allowing kids a realistic chance to win a championship in the class level they are at. " Private" schools have quite few advantages that make it hard for a Public school to compete at that level year after year. Getting to win a championship in the system that is in place in unfair to 90% of the schools in the playoffs. District and rival games are great but all schools that make the playoffs should not have to be just satisfied, they should be able to compete on a level playing field.

  2. I have seen and been at way too many of these matchups in the past with 10-1 and 11-0 teams coming into Ft. Thomas and being demolished. I don't disagree with you that FC hasn't worked very hard to be where they are right now and I most certainly believe they probably deserve some respect and praise for their great season. I also believe we will be very impressed with some of your talent as well. But unfortunately when this time of the year rolls around Highlands always finds a way to win and sometimes win sick against teams like yours. Just ask Tim Couch. Outch !!!!

All I can say is we'll sure try to give you a game.

  3. Some friends in Central KY tell me they are athletic, quick, and explosive. I think they will put some points on the board in Ft. Thomas and will ultimately serve to increase HHS level of preparedness for a deep playoff run.

    Now you feel better? ;)

I think your score is in the ball park if not more points by both teams. It will a high speed game for boths teams. I agree with the 4 point spread and think it can go either way. Should be a great HS Football game.

  4. Lamnuts54, it just seems to me you are really trying to play the "us against the world" card here. You claim that HHS and NKY have no respect for FC. I don't buy it. Highlands has respect for all teams they play, especially come playoff time. The fact is, if FC was a pushover they wouldn't have the record they have nor would they be playing in round two. So please put the disrespect thing to rest and just look forward to a great game Friday night.

Not us against the world just HHS this week. I am looking forward to a great game this week. And when the disrespect ends I'll put it to rest. Not all of NKY just some.

  5. Your opponents' winning % - 43

    Our opponents' winning % - 62

    Your defeated oponents' winning % - 38

    Our defeated oponents' winning % - 54

Is that supposed to mean something. Again we beat the teams we should have handily. That's all we can do. 8 teams in our District and it is not our fault that Pulaski and Breath were down this year. Have a nice day.

  6. I'm not sure if it's a huge bias as much as it is past history. I assure you HHS is not taking Franklin Co. lightly. Unlike most of us, they're watching film and have scouted Franklin Co. They'll know how good Franklin is and that's the only thing that matters.

I do have one question that maybe you can answer. Your Daddy states to "Bring on the rematch" with LexCath. What on earth is he thinking?

Another fan of blind faith. I will be rooting for CC myself.

  7. Please tell me you don't think that your schedule prepared you for the playoffs. Franklin Co. has one win that can be considered a good win and that's just because Harrison Co. stayed with CCH last week. Not sure how that prepares you for the playoffs but wins over Dixie, Madison Central, Southwestern and CCH does not.

I did not state that our schedule was better than HHS. Other posters were stating that HHS's District schedule did not matter. I believe every game matters and because we play in a large District we are limited with OOC scheds. We beat all the teams we should have handily. There just seems to be a huge bias from NKY about CKY schools. We have a very good team and will be ready for the challenge Friday night. The posters who are predicting a blow out should be in for quite a surprise.

  8. I'm afraid you're just reading into things, what you wish to be there.

If you had been at the HHS/ South Oldham game you would understand a little better what actually happened. The game was played in a blinding rainstorm. It was freezing cold, water everywhere and biting wind. Under those conditions, almost anything can happen. I would advise not using that game as your bellweather for this week's match-up.

Yeah you must be right. We haven't had any games in poor weather. I do read between the lines I do it for a living. I did not state that I went to THAT game. Oh and by the way the posters stated that the S.Oldham game did not matter anyway. Have you seen FC play or are your feelings just out of loyalty?

  9. LEATHERNECK, nice post on the seniors and the dedication they bring day in and day out.

Lamnuts 54, please show me the attitude you speak of from the Highlands faithful. No one has knocked this team or been outspoken about the matchup. HHS has often been the bad guy on these posts and for the most part, as I see it, alot of the negative posts and the disrespect for others often comes from people who support other teams or multitude of teams. Furthermore, many posts come from those who have seen one or the other play and make their own opinions.

Trust me in the fact that come playoff time, Highlands will take no team lightly.

All you have to do is read posts from the "faithful". I respect your program but reality is a team cannot just turn it on and off. I would be shocked if HHS takes FC lightly because true football fans that have seen BOTH teams as I have know that this might turn out to be the best game in the State this week.

  10. Definitely!

As for the second question: They don't rely on a few district games to prepare for the playoffs. That's why they play such a tough non-didtrict schedule.

Well then I just hope our little country boys can compete. Just keep in mind we are not Grant, S. Oldham, or CC. Our District has 8 teams so our out of conference schedule is limited. I'm a true football fan and know that HHS is one of the top programs in the state, win or lose FC will come out of this game with respect also.

  11. If you guys really think the players/coaching staff at HHS has the same opinion and approach that some posters do, well I can't help you. What I can tell you is that HHS does not overlook anyone come playoff time. They may, not sure, have been caught off guard against South Oldham during the regular season but that wasn't a playoff game. I can assure you that the Birds will be ready to go.

I don't expect Highlands to overlook FC. But if their attitude is like some of their supporters then FC will shock them. My question is how do you overlook a District game when those games decide whether you stay home for the playoffs or have to travel. Besides the games that Highlands lost is the caliber of the rest of their schedule any different than other teams? Their 3 District games did not prepare them for the playoffs.

  12. No team should but the attitude of some Northern Kentucky fans seem to be that teams from other areas of the Region don't stand a chance when they travel North. I hope the team is over confident because FC is a very solid ball club on both sides of the ball. FC is not the same team that Highlands has faced the past 2 years nor do I believe that Highlands is as good as years past. I truly think this will be an all out war and is a toss-up game. I respect the program and FC is out to earn the same respect.

  13. True Blue, you are probably right the Franklin County team probably does not belong on the same field. They won all 10 of their games with smoke and mirrors, their district just does not match up to yours. The strength of Cov Cath and S. Oldham was obvious in their opening games. If you need motivation against Franklin then maybe your coaching staff should just start to prepare for Lexington cath. I'm sure that the coaching staff at FC will try not to waste your time Friday night. See ya then.
