  1. That's what I like to see! Bellevue seems to keep dominating this series over the past 5 years. Go Tigers!

Just 5 yrs? The overall record is 88-42-3. Guess this is why Dayton didn't want to put past scores on the paddle, hoping to erase all the past domination.

  2. NewCath is one of the only Schools, that do not move Freshman up to JV so that does help them win the region as other Schools move the better freshman up to JV. Last year CovCath JV team was almost all freshman.

Last year NewCath won the freshmen regional with 7 8th graders. This year they currently have 4 freshmen playing JV and 8 8th graders on their freshmen roster. Know your facts before trash the success of the Breds. NCC is doing something right, in the last 3 years they have won one 9th region title and 2 freshmen regional titles. Tons of talent in their program right now.

  3. Question - what do Holy Cross, St. Henry, NCC and Brossart do on their freshman teams? I would guess they have 7th and 8th graders playing freshman baseball. Maybe not NCC. I would be interested in hearing about those smaller private schools. I am thinking CCH might be the exception because they are a big enough school that they don't need 7th and 8th graders, plus they are high school only with some of the above having closely affiliated grade schools.

NCC is using 8th graders this year as well as the last two years. You wont find many schools that do not use 8th graders on their freshmen teams. Moving the more experience players to JV is the smart thing to do!

  4. Funny thing is having been around Coach Carr since he arrived at Scott, I was thinking, and made the remark several times this year; how much he's mellowed on the sidelines since his first year or two?? If they didn't like his "antics" this year, what did "they" think in his first year or two??

Still think it would be a huge mistake on Scott's part to get rid of him; and I think it would definately set their program back significantly. Coaching is a very competitive profession, and most of those that enter into it are very passionate people--Occasionally most of them go farther than they'd probably like, but I also know for the most part Carr gets results.

I agree! Senior night he was the most mellow of all the games all year too!

  5. Who's not coachable?

I was at the Highlands game and thought Carr was way out of line. Come on, he let someone slip behind him on the press. It was not like he did not hustle or something. Plus it was senior night. Wow, if that is how you treat a three yr starter during his last home game.............

Everyone was treated the same way by Carr. Make a mistake and you will know it. Three year starter or not he should not get special treatment. But of course if Carr yells at eveyone but littlle (Big) Johnnie, then everything is ok. But yell at Johinnie and there is a problem. If the parents had a problem with the way Carr coached then they should have spoken up on behalf of all the players and not when little Johnnie is yelled at! That's the difference between Carr and these parents, Carr has every players interest at heart and the parents care only about their own!

  6. Taylor Mill better hope he stays at that school. It's a shame one kid can ruin it for everyone. Just because one kid isnt coachable shouldnt put a coach on the hot seat! Carr takes it personally to insure the best wellfare of every kid on that team on and off the basketball court.

If you ask his players I can assure you they wouldn't be happy with him leaving, and that is the most telling fact.

  7. No way the technical was legit on O'Connor! Zollo was all over his back and ref called O'Connor's fifth foul. Ref 40 feet away called the tech. At that point of the game the refs should show restraint and let the players decide the oucome.

O'Connor held Zollo to 3 pts 1st half and caused all GRC's inside guys alter shots and travel on the block. Huge defensive effort by O'Connor! Kept them in the entire game. A lot of fustration by him on the final foul. His teammates should have kept him away from the ref as well.

While their starting point guard is rolling around on the ground hurt, in the most crucial point in the game?

Good luck Clark in the championship game

  8. For the past decade NCC has always had one of, if not the most talented team in all of Class A. And every year people (certainly those up on the hill) talk of how it will not even be close when they play Beechwood.

“Then what is the gurgling, hacking and gasping for air do I hear?

Oh don't worry it's just NC, chocking in the playoffs again this year.”

What amazes me most is how much better NC people are than the very people that live next door to. NCC parents and fans have never sat on the sidelines laughing and taunting Bellevue players in the last minutes of the game just to get beat on a "Hail Mary" (ironic isn't it). As for personal fouls I do recall NCC players getting thrown out of games for punching Bellevue players. But lets be honest the refs must have gotten it wrong because there is no way that the high and mighty breds would stoop to that level. Instead us breds fans with our diluted morals intact, sit behind a keyboard and attack the players of a program that has more tradition (just look at the number of state championships). Before I conclude, let me leave you with this. Before you attack the class and character of an entire team, school and community you must first look at the lack of character you may have displayed.

Good Luck to the players on both sides of the ball!
