Thanks Nets! Excellent photo. Any idea of the combined GPA for this years Cougars team after 1st Semester?

Carr Creek is one of the main stories that kindled dreams in every KY schoolboy basketball player. Not unlike Inez and Cuba. And later Clay County. Congratulations to the '56 Carr Creek boys.

Young and Montgomery have been solid for the Cougars...
Nice photo Nets. How about posting a couple more down the stretch? Would be nice to see slides of the Cougars in action at tourney time.

I would like to see Pat and cousin Blake take on Sarah and her Mom.

You go back quite a while - Didn't McCarty transfer from Flat Gap?
How about Leon Bailey for Morgan - a great all-around player?
Yes McCarty transfered from Flat Gap after his Mom & Dad got jobs in West Liberty.
I played with Leon & Bro. Lawrence. Leon was very talented in every facet of the game. Had some injuries though. Went to Eastern awhile.

Does anyone tape the Morgan games? Are they available to the public? Is there a good web site for postgame stats? Can we follow District/Region/State tourneyment games delayed, realtime online? Thanks.

Moecephus, Since you mention McCarty as one of the best players, I was just wondering if you are too young to remember the playing days of Lawrence Bruce Macklin or if you do not think he deserves a high ranking in your list of great players.
I'm not young, but I did not get to see LBM play. But his name always came up as the gold standard of MCHS basketball as I was growing up. But I also didn't get to see Ellis Johnson play. I did get to hear him speak in the lunchroom at our senior Blue Devil Banquet....BTW Darrell Wheeler used to be all time leading MCHS scorer. Is he still?

Ellis Johnson for Ashland
Jessie McCarty for Morgan

Last time I saw Alvin Ratliff he was coaching Johnson Central's girls team in the State Tourney in Bowling Green. First time I saw him, I was "guarding" him as he played center for Meade Memorial.
Worst High school gyms you ever played or watched a game in..????

I always liked the scoreboard horn at the Van Lear gym. They were the bank mules and the horn brayed, as in hee-haw. Another favorite was Martin where on the sideline opposite the stage, you had to step outside the double doors to take the ball out of bounds. And they kept the tiny visitors dressing room about 110 to zap all the strength out of you at halftime.
