Wow, amos, you really have some pull. I notice you haven't commented on the latest Elliott game when Knipp was outscored on his own team by Ison and Faulkner. Coach must have been listening. They keep playing like that and maybe your premonition will come true and folks will forget last years team with all that success. Good luck to Elliott in the remaining games.
Hey, I'm just happy that we saw a balanced scoring offense.
-
I like the balance. Hope it is kept!
-
What brought this on?
Age maybe? Ah... I won't forsake the team. Just disappointed.
-
After more than a decade, I'm just about ready to jump from the bandwagon and settle is an occasional spectator.
-
My opinion is that this is one of the most terrible displays of sportsmanship that I can ever remember.
My buddy's opinion is that it's not really a big deal and the kids should be allowed to enjoy the spotlight.
I just can't agree with that :idunno:
Agreed!

The old adage "It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play that game" holds true here. It seems to me that when your goal is to average 100+ points per outing, the logistics of the game itself has changed.

Elliott County by 15.
Nice... there's the bold prediction I was afraid to make! Hope you're right!
-
I won't make a bold prediction. I've only seen Fairview play one quarter this year. It's impossible for me to gauge their ability. I'm sure it took this team a little while to get the "chemical equation" balanced correctly. However, I do believe the Chemistry is sound. This is a tough game for Elliott. Play like they did against Russell, the game MAY be out of Fairview's reach. However, the Russell game is the ONLY time this season that I have seen Elliott has played like that. Was that a fluke? A team just realizing their potential? Questions that will be answered tomorrow! Looking fwd to it!

Elliott was impressive tonight... SO glad to see the team ball and team delivery! It was a pleasure to watch this team!

My favorite player in the state is Justice--having not seen every "star" play, It would be a little presumptuous of me to say he is one of the best.
-
Congratulations....
-
Cody Nickell is a good point guard too. I think he should be used in that capacity more.
-
Great job by East. They continue to improve. This may be the year that they return to Rupp. Elliott, um.... I'm not sure what to think. Maybe they can learn from the mistakes of this game.
-
No we need to win by more than one due to the loss we took and home by one. If we beat East by more than one then we win the district in first place because we would be tied with wins in district assuming East and Elliott won out; making it go to the points. So this is a big game because I don't think either team wants to be second because they would have to play a scary West Carter team with Rayburn back.
In any case, you're right about one thing for sure. A win by more than one is desirable--even if not a necessity!
-
Thanks for punching us Bulldogs in the mouth at Rupp.:laugh:
Maybe (and I don't know this), Mr. Viking was speaking metaphorically (when he said "punched in the mouth"). He does go on to mention the press and national recognition. Maybe schools that accomplished more than Elliott ever did, yet were never recognized to the same degree, felt Elliott's publicity was undeserving... and maybe it was. It was just a feel-good story though.

East will probably win. They're a great team. Both teams being out of school for so long probably will make the performance somewhat lackluster--but when these two teams get together there is usually plenty of excitement. I'll root for Elliott to win by one! They're more than capable... as is East.

Very nice post. It seems that if we Elliott County fans are on here too much we are dogged for it; and now that we are not on as much we are dogged for it. Goes to show the dislike for small town schools by people who are fans of traditional powers.
Ha... never really thought of it like that before. Feels like that's what happens though. I guess we all just long for "The Good Ol' Days." Wait, I'm happy with this 2009-10 team.
-
I think he meant that he was a fan of Elliott before the start of the big run, and he is right. I know him and know that he has been to about every Elliott game for the last 10-12 years, and he is not even originally from Elliott.
EXACTLY! Apparently some people think BGP is the only place for fans that really matters...
"Elliott fans have fallen off the face of the Earth..... Join date 2008." Well, i've been an Elliott fan since 1998 and a BGP fan since 2008.
-
Was there a natural disaster in Eastern Kentucky? Elliott County and there fans seem to have fallen off the face of the earth.
Just because E.C. fans are not vocally posting on BGP doesn't mean that we have "fallen off the face of the Earth." I was here before the trips to Rupp started. I plan on being here a long time after the current string ends (whenever that happens)!

Elliott had a 14 point second quarter lead-- after a very quick Ashland start. EC led 11 at the half. Ashland broke the game open in the final three minutes. Scaggs is amazing to watch. Composed, character, and determination. Great game!
-
Well, that's an odd game.
-
What about Chief Orb Bowling who played for Tennessee. Yea Kidd did transfer but I would say he is still on the top 5.
Very possible... he had some serious range.
-
Actually knipp had 50 points.
Officially he did not. You have to go by the official book. Unofficially he may have had the 50 though.
-
Steven Kidd was a good one too.
Playing his senior season at Rowan County would probably knock him out of the running. He was a prolific scorer though!
