  1. 5 Trinity championship rings:D

I'm pretty sure I can read and I'm sure the name of the thread is St. X 38 Manual 7 but I could be wrong. But I'm not wrong; so if you don't have anything, you know relevant to say, then take your "intelligent" comments over to the "grass" section of the message board.

  2. Both coaches are very successful and they're doing it two totally different ways. At X, they've had the same philosophy for the about the last 30+ years when it comes to football. They are going to have a great defense, a ball control offense that will run the football whether you want them to or not, and special teams that will flip the field in their favor. That is Coach Glaser's philosophy; beat you physically and then beat you mentally. They have made some adjustments on defense and added a few wrinkles on offense over the years, so they're not satisfied with just the same schemes. I love when they line up and just run it and there is nothing that the defense can do about it...it's a great feeling; but that's coming from a former OL. Coach Glaser always talks about the "10 year plan" and he and the school take great pride in that. But don't let it fool you, Coach Glaser and X are in the business of being champions. Yes, since 2000 St. X has won 2 championships while playing in a total of 5. It's not the number that anyone would have thought but it's just the way it goes. You watch the film make adjustments and get back to work. It's life. The latest game is the first time that t has beat St. X that soundly so before t fans start to bad mouth Coach Glaser and St. X, take a step back and remember that there is a very good chance that you'll have to play them again. Final thought, as I saw on the TEAM shirt for the first time on Thursday..."Be Uncommon"!!

  3. You act like this happens every year. We had 40+ Seniors last year. It will make it even sweeter to nock off the Mighty Tigers with Sophomores and Juniors with a handfull of Seniors in key roles. This could be the Tigers last chance to get back to back titles. Based on what we've seen so far this week, Trinity is set to make another 2-3 year run. :ylsuper:

They might be great or even the best sophomores in the world but I will never trust a sophomore. They'll get you beat when it matters. Just my personal opinion.

  4. I have never bought the argument that X was a better high school team than Trinity at the end of that year.

Well it's hard to say that X wasn't the better team going into that game. X had dominated T and just aboput everyone else in '05. So my point was that even though they were the better team that year, it doesn't always end that way.

CentreRock, I agree, X does a great job a keeping T out of the endzone and giving them a fighting chance when X is a little down from year to year. X keeps T's "power spread" from scoring in bunches; even during the Brohm era they never scored more than 20 (if that). Shoued be a fun game this year, with great players on both teams!

  5. Since leaving the Rock, Dane Spoelker has started every game for Centre College. Somebody better put him on the list of college players before he gets mad and tackles a ST.X star at the goal line..... again......

Perfect example of the most talented team/player not always walking out on top. Hmmm...maybe a little bit of foreshadowing.

  6. It's great for the state of KY. For being a "basketball state" it says a lot that a high school football game in this state can bring about 30-38K fans! Also, it give KY some national/regional attention as well, and there is never anything wrong with that!!! Yes, there are fans that don't like either school because of who they are, but they understand the importance of this game not just to those two schools, but to the entire state.

  7. Come on Jimmy. You (and Ox and Park1221) normally base your posts on facts and have valid points. Do you want to tell the whole story about the D-I kids from Trinity...? Of the 15 players you listed, 11 are walk-ons. Last I checked, a walk-on is open to all. Moreover, of the 4 scholarship players, one is a kicker and one is a long snapper.

You also conspicuousy failed to post many X players. Here's a "slightly" more updated list, including many members of X's 2009 title team:

    Duece Finch Boston College

    Trevor Foy Purdue

    Vic Anderson Louisville

    Stephen Goodwin Louisville

    Nick Heuser Louisville

    Paul Belshoff Louisville

    John Clark Louisville

    Nick Egart Louisville

    Matt Smith Kentucky

    Jon Thomas Kentucky

    Wil Simmons WKU

    Nick Baisch WKU

    Zane Karrer WKU

    Derrick Elder WKU

    Brian Noltemeyer EKU

    Nic Sears EKU

    Wyatt Gray EKU

    Josh Jordan Georgetown

    Seth Harvey Georgetown

    Austin Jones Centre

    Luke Irvin Centre

    Ben Zoeller Wittenberg

    Daniel Passafiume Hanover

Now tell us again, what doesn't match up?

Couldn't have put it better myself!!

  8. Trinity by 14 and Bob Beatty won't tip his cap or use a broom like a certain coach on the X sideline.

You're correct about that...he'll just make excuses.

With that being said, it comes down to the running game for T. If they run it effectively that will open up everything for them and keep X from bringing pressure. T's starting QB had a 70 something percent completion rate going into their game against BG. When he left that game I believe he was about 4/10 with an INT. X can not be scared to bring pressure. Make their QB feel uncomfortable and good things will happen. So the key for the game will be X's ability to stop the run and T's ability to run the ball.

    X in a close one....17-13

  9. Thoughts on the game...the refs did a good job! They were not going to call a penalty that would dictate the outcome of the game. There were some "obvious" holding calls that were missed agaisnt T but I don't thingk that wold have changed anything. T has a very underrated running game, which won the game for them. Bowling Green's RT took T "super sopomore" DL out of the game. When he made plays it was either against a TE or chased it down from the back side. it was a good game and it could have gone either way...I wonder what will be Coach Betty's "reason" for not scoring more points...because like in '09 when T was SHUTOUT it was because of injuries not becasue BG has one heck of a defense.

  10. The offense of Trinity and the defense of Bowling Green are like mirror images of each other. Trinity likes to shift and motion their players all over the place; while Bowling Green does the same on defense. If Trinity can run the ball successfully it might be long night for the Purples. I believe it'll be closer than the "experts" predict.

  11. Just going off previous years, there is nothing that indicates that Trinity will score in bunches. While BG isn't has big as Cincy X and Elder on D, I'd be willing to bet that neither one of those teams move and blitz as much as BG. Trinity may be better than last year, but word is that BG is better than a year ago too. Trinity O vs BG D will be a very good battle!!

  12. I hate to sound like a broken record, but ...

In 6A (as was the case in the old 4A), the geographic midpoint is right down the middle of Louisville. As it turns out, St. Xavier is on the west side of the line and Trinity is to the east.

To back up this point in the sixth region of baseball and basketball you have Shawnee, Fairdale, DeSales, Holy Cross, Central, Bullitt East, Valley, Western, Beth Haven, St. Francis, Doss, etc. who are either in a lower classification in football or do not have a football team at all. The reason why St. X and Trinity are in the same region (7th) in basketball and baseball is because there are more teams to the west of their locations (see above schools for examples) which make up the 6th region. If more of these lower classified west/southwestern Louisville football schools played up into 6A then you could possibly have Trinity and St. X in the same football region; however, until that happens this is the hand you are being dealt.

Just be happy that there is a blind draw in football for the regional winners so the possibility of St. X and Trinity meeting in the 3rd or 4th round still exists.

  13. I am of the side that it is kind of weird that two teams from the same city can meet in the state finals... I don't get it. Granted it pits the two best teams in the state, but it goes against the idea of having regions. NewCath in the early 90's had at least 3 teams that were #2 or #3 in Class A. They never even made it out of the region b/c Beechwood was king.

Why does it matter with football and not baseball or basketball? Louisville has two regions in football (2nd and 3rd), baseball (6th and 7th) and basketball (6th and 7th) and their is a possibility that both 6th and 7th regions could meet for a all-Louisville basketball or baseball final as there has been for football. Like basketball in football there is a blind drawing for which region will play one another. In baseball there is a blind drawing for which regional winner will play one another in the semi-state; likewise, there is a drawing for which semi-state winner will play each other in the state tournament. So what is the big deal? Is it because neither Louisville school made it to the finals that we don't throw a fit about this?

If someone could explain to me why there shouldn't be two Louisville schools in the football finals, but it's okay to have two Louisville schools in the baseball and basketball finals, that would be great!
