  1. I have to say that I am getting quite the chuckle, watching a couple of our strong conservatives revile a person for committing the crime of making money.

According to the list posted by HHSDad, Ronald and Nancy Reagan donated an even lower percentage of their income to charity. Where are the cries of injustice against them?

Personally, I couldn't care less what anyone donates to charity. It is a personal act, and anything short of emulating Mother Teresa is simply a matter of degree.

  2. Well, you sort of understood it. My point was that IF that's why we went to war (which we all know wasn't the reason) that it would be something worth fighting for. If you're honest with yourself, you'll agree.

I'll let you start this exchange of honest answers.

IF we didn't invade Iran (a sovereign nation) for oil, then please tell me what the real reason was.

  3. That is how all good teams win. We should give Elliott due credit, their defense caused the Tomcat turnovers and they executed their plays just as any good team does to win. This was not just luck as you seemed to imply, but well executed athleticism. Come-on!!!!!!:ylsuper: :jump:

    Hootscoot -

I don't think anyone is saying that Elliott didn't earn this win. I think that it is clearly obvious that they did.

They hit shots that they needed to hit, they were behind in the second half and didn't give up, they played good defense (which forced turnovers), and they kept a cool head in the closing minutes.

Without question, they earned the win.

  4. Right over your head.

Then it must have been extremely arcane, because I thought H addressed the salient point of your post (the disruption of the supply of oil).

If, on the other hand, your main point was intended to be that "the Democrats would invade a country just to keep us in oil", then I would have to disagree. We weren't experiencing any real threats to the oil supply prior to the invasion of Iraq, but as H pointed out, if we invade Iran as well, you can bet your last dollar that the price of a gallon will be going up - WAY UP. I don't see an invasion of Iran as a way to keep the cost of oil down - and I doubt that many other people would see it that way.

  5. ... Since his absence the kids are out of shape. They tug at their shorts and double over to their knees during the second half of the game. Coach Sutton obviously does not know how to develop a team.

You know, it's hard to believe that Sutton could be THAT bad of a coach. Hicks has been out of the saddle for about a month, and all of a sudden, these athletes that were in topnotch condition are doubled over gasping for air?

The only way that is possible is if Sutton is force feeding them Twinkies for the entire length of a two hour practice everday.

If I didn't know better, I'd swear you were a little biased in your views, Slick.

  6. Scooterbob is entitled to his opinion. He has definitely earned the right to voice his opinion on matters that concern RH. He without a doubt wants nothing but the best for RH. His ideas of whats best for RH may be different from others, but that in no way makes them wrong.

    Exactly, GIAT.

  7. What if? I thought it was a given that Iran was supplying both arms and men to the Iraq insurgency.

I'm with HHSDad on this aspect of the question. I would be shocked to find anyone in upper government that didn't believe this to already be the case.

  8. ...It is very worrisome to think that the Bush administration may be trying to manufacture reasons to embark on an armed conflict with Iran.

    ...

Where oh where is Donald Rumsfeld when we need him the most? If he were back in the SECDEF chair, I'm sure he could coerce the Joint Chiefs of Staff to invade Iran with a single battalion of infantry, and ensure a quick victory, followed by our being hailed as liberators.

At least we can still rely on the unwincing wisdom of Dick Cheney to lead us through the morass, and find the best political solution to this brewing problem ...

  9. Now Frances, you should know scooterbob well enough by now that he's not concerned about if he steps on anyone's shoes. He is only looking out for the best interest of the school, and the students, and I have to agree with him on the seeding issue. It's not in Rose Hill's best interest to have the district seeded every year.

    LRCW -

Please don't misunderstand me. Like you and scooterbob, I see seeding as the friend of both Ashland and Boyd, and the draw as the best arrangement for Fairview and Rose Hill.

I have absolutely no problem with you, me, scooterbob, or anyone else with seeing it however they wish to.

My point was not that scooterbob would be wrong to see it this way (it is, after all, an opinion that all three of us share). Rather, my point is that I would think that scooterbob probably won't be quite as "loud" in his protests, nor as demanding to see the facts, in this instance as he would be if he felt that Ashland had somehow hoodwinked Rose Hill again. I'm guessing that he will voice his displeasure, and then quietly move on to the next thread.

I could be wrong about how he handles it - it was simply my response to a point made by another poster.

  10. Why, thank you, Frances. Actually, as I typed the positive statement about your favorites, I was wondering just how you would go about turning it into a chance to take a shot- veiled or otherwise. You didn't disappoint me.

I'll give you another compliment and see how you react to it. The improvement of Ashland from last year to this year can be attributed to the change of occupants in the head coach's chair. So far, Bud has been impressive.

I would agree that Buddy Biggs has Ashland playing a different style, and that it was time (if not past time) for a change in the head coach. I haven't really been keeping track of how Mike Flynn has been doing this year, but like you, I wish him all the best.

I'm surprised that you felt that my reply was some sort of shot taken at you. I took your compliment, and returned it with one of equal sincerity. :thumb:

  11. Good win for the Musketeers!! Its up to the seniors on the team to lead at this point. deep in their hearts they know Coach Sutton has always been there for them. They have to shake off everything that has happened this year and go on. Trust Coach Sutton and dont listen to all the crap that people are saying negitive. come togather as 1 and the team will be successful. When you are in the locker room, look around. Thats who you have to do it with. Not the fan's, Not the School admistrators, Not the ex coach, Not the parents, but everyone in that locker room. Stay focused and by all means when you walk off that floor be able to look at yourself in the mirror and say "I gave it everything I had out there" then you cant go wrong win or lose.:thumb:

I'm with Intentional Fould and Oldrambler. This post is escpecially true for the boys on the Greenup County team, but it is just as true in every locker room in America.

    Very well said, Gatorlover.

  12. My post didnt have nothing to do with credit???????? Let me break it down. 24.9% threepoint shooting isn't what one the game! It was the DEFENSE:thumb:

I misunderstood the intent of your post. I thought you were saying the 21 points that they got off of the threes that they made, and the fact that they don't stop shooting them didn't contribute.

    Frances

  13. Elliott was 7-28(24.9%)

It's not just the percentage that they shot. It is a combination of the fact that they don't stop shooting them (28 attempts), and at what point in the game that they DO hit them.

Very impressive offensive weapon. It definitely changes how you must defend them.

You really ought to give them credit, sportsfan - they earned it.

  14. you called it Ducker:thumb:

On a side note, where was the Ashland student section?

Team could have used ya tonight, Knipp made a big difference for

Elliot , and Drew Mcdavid having to sit with some foul trouble was the big difference in the game, Bonner and Mcdavid were getting and 1's early and the second half they couldnt find them, but give credit to elliot for that. Elliot shot the ball well. Faulkners hit some BIG shots too

You are exactly right, Shooterx3. Elliott should get credit for Ashland's offensive struggles.

Far too often we see fans lament the way their team didn't play well, without giving the other team's defense credit.
