  1. Yes, but there are certain people who have a history of self and program promotion over their student athletes. No surprise here.

 My only assuption by this comment seems to be directed at the boys from Brossart. The times that I have heard one of them talk, put things on their web-site or even speak to the media they have done nothing but compliment their kids. My point was directed more towards those who are looking for the recogination for getting this event done, which would seem to be a group and not one individual. Again:confused::confused:

  2. It would have been a more professional to acknowledge those who actually got it done! Not one mention of the superitendent but someone who had nothing to do with it puts his own name in this "press release" several times. Glad the coattails are long enough to ride on!

The people that run the Bank Of KY Center have been talking about this for a while now. Long before Mustang and the boys put out a press release. That aside, I thought this was for the kids and the opportunity to play in a first class arena, I guess I missed the part on who gets their name in lights. I also must be old school, because the days of just doing things for the kids and not worrying about making sure that someone gets the credit..... well I guess those days are gone. The reward should be in seeing a successful tournament that some can sit back and say to themself "wow that was something great to be a part of".

Usually this takes a group effort to get things such as this accomplished.

  3. I hope you are right, but getting the ball to Cutter last year was useless as she couldn't finish when she got the ball, and Cundiff was second on the team in TURNOVERS, because she shuffled her feet before shooting, or had it stolen by guards doubling down. Tabor will be much more effective inside because she keeps the ball above her head where the guards doubleing down can't get at it. She is also much stronger, and won't pout when she doesn't get the ball all the time. They should be much beter.

As I stated I was sure that "someone" would disagree. Let's see you have blamed poor footwork and strength, both would be an effect of poor entry passes to the post or could be whomever was in charge of working with the post players. And not to forget, if one of these girls were being doubled down than again whose job is it to see this and correct?

I saw last years team play enough to see that when you are playing a much smaller team(green/white) and not look to go high/low or have the entry pass come from the below the elbow to get the proper angle than whose fault was it? If you continue to feel that those two girls had a hand in the problems with NCC last season than I would encourage you to look at playing time minutes, YOU may be VERY supprised. I will be willing to bet that playing time continued to decrease for each of the players from their JR. to SR. seasons. So it is hard to "pout" about not getting the ball if you are not in the game.

  4. NCC will play more to their strengths this year which is their speed and outside shooting. At times last year they felt like they had to throw it inside to Cundiff at times because she was the senior leader and at times that hurt them. Tabor will be very good, she is very physical and wants to win. But the guards will not feel like they have to throw the ball down low so much.

In the games that I saw, it looked as if they did not use their size near enough. There were times that they had the size advantage with Cundiff and Cutter and chose to push the ball versus using the inside game to open up the outside. It also seemed that the angle of entry passes to the post were always made at a bad angle which put the post players at a disadvantage of having to spin into the paint, instead of sealing and attacking the basket by drop-step.

I think this year you will see better entry passes and a much more disciplined team which will not only allow the post to be effective, but also allow Sandfoss to really show her skills.

As in the past I am sure someone will not agree with this. :thumb:

  5. Mr. Chasteen was a GREAT asset to these schools and to the officials. I wouldnt want to be the one to fill those shoes.

"Those schools" better realize what they are about to lose!! Rick is one of the all time great guys for basketball not mention that NO ONE will ever find a better person.

AD's in the 10th and 11th, remove your heads from the sand and get this done if you want the level of basketball to stay where it has been for the last 8 years:fight:

  6. Fifth Third told us giving anyone (grocery, department store etc) your debit card is like giving them free access to your checking account. A few years ago a cashier forced a charge through at Remke for $1500 for a $15 dollar purchase. It was an accident, however it took about 3 days to retrieve the money.

With advice such at this that is why 5/3 is the "only bank you will never need" and a good reason for a loss of 202 million $$ in the 2nd quarter:D. Your idenity can be compromised by more than just a debit card and the VISA or Mastercard logo will give you full protection. It is obvious that this bank employee is not very well informed.

  7. Visa does protect you when your idenity has been compromised. If you have contacted your bank they should have already filed an unauthorized purchase affiadavit to help you start the process of recovering your money. In most cases the bank will notice charges going through your debit card that would seem different in nature and either put a hold on the card or notify the cardholder. This is usually the case especially when purchases are made out of your normal living area. While it is not necessary to completely close the account, due to the fact that the is now deactivated, if you want to sleep easy at night I would advise to close the account and open a new account. This will stop any and all activity on the account. If you have auto-debits or direct deposits into your account those usually can be reset fairly quickly. Also, if the card has been de-activated but there are pending charges out there they will still hit your account. Sometimes it may take a few days to show on your account.

If you have any questions feel free to IM, as you can tell have some experience in the area. Also, trying to find out who is using the card if out of the area is less than a 20% success rate of apprending that person.

  8. So Coach McDonald didn't do this? I don't understand?

Did I say that Coach McDonald did not do this?? NO, what I am saying is that Coach Dawn has a proven record of doing so and should be commended for his development of young adults.

And as for not understanding.... you may not, but it seems to me that you are trying to read too much into things. Coach McDonald has chose to move on, so she should be respected for that decision, but attacking former players/parents for her decision is what most of this thread has been about. As a coach, I am sure she would like to be respected for what was accomplished as a coach and not blame parents for her reason of not coaching. If she feels the need to blame parents for not coaching.... well we can all hope that this is not the case.

I wish the best of luck to both coaches.

  9. Coach Dawn is a good guy and a good coach and I wish him the best of luck!!

HOWEVER, something just doesn't sound right:

    Wooden, Pitino, Krzyzewski, DAWN?

Come on!!! Even Ron would chuckle at that comment.

Let me make this a bit clearer. In the 9th Region for High School basketball boys or girls you will not find many any better. Does that help any????

Ron will run the team as it should be run and the players which play for him will not only become better basketball players but also very respectiable young women when their playing days are finished.

  10. Care to count the number of players who have gone there BECAUSE of her?

To name a few decent players from out of district ther was Chiodi and Klei who now are/were both on full scholarships at great schools. Several of the best players there now went specifically because she was there. The number from St. Joseph alone offsets any of the 2 or 3 you are referring to.

One of the two you are referencing went to another school because the mother of the family physically attacked Coach McDonald after a game and there was a restraining order barring her from the school except for graduation. Are these the kind of people we are losing? No great loss there.

The other family you are referring to thought their daughter was much better than she was, as was proven when her stats declined every year from her sophomore year through her senior year.

Believe me, she brought many, many more students in than didn't attend. Brossart is beside themselves with joy knowing they will get many of the out of district students they lost to NCC because of her.

She was forced to step down because several "influencial" parents with clout and money habitually complained and the administration, unlike past administrations, did NOT have the courage to step up and defend her. It was just easier for them to knuckle under and force her out.

If the family that you are referring to is from an out of the district feeder system than you are incorrect in your statement. May they have regrets now after their daughter has moved on??? And as for Brossart being happy to get out of district student athletes, if you are referring to a school in Cold Springs than you are incorrect again. That school is one of the feeder schools for Brossart and the out of district school would be NCC.

Just trying to get a clearer response to your statement.

  11. I was told tonight by a very good source(ex-player) that Coach McDonald resigned last night. Can any of the NCC fans confirm this one?? Is this what St Henry was waiting on or is Kristi going to spend time w/the family now???

If this is true could Ron Dawn be the next coach??

  12. Or who's calling the shots?? The other programs seem to run pretty smoothly--And successfully!! Football takes time to build, like it or not? Rome (or Beechwood or Highlands) wasn't built in a day!!

I think everyone know who is calling the shots:irked: As we all have heard in the past, "this is his last year". Well, I think this situtation points out it is time to make that change in this position now. I credit a person which has dedicated his life to the catholic school system and the role he has played, but now is the time for someone that is younger, hungry to move the school in a new direction and is ready to grow with this area to take BBHS to a new level. Also, regarding a teaching position, you already have 2 coaches out of the building teaching at other schools, why not one more. If I am not mistaken, Coach O was not in the building. While it is the most preferred that the Coach be in the buliding, it is a little to late for that. Go get a good young coach from a quality program and make this happen.

The kids and the future of this school/program are in serious danger of becoming a joke, lets do the right things and get this taken care of in the right manner and with bringing in the right person::cool:

  13. Me. I will bring the beer, you can bring the footballs.

Why am I not surprised that BBHS would do this in June? That stinks for their kids.

This has been talked about since March arnd from what I hear the Principal did not want this to become public???? I know that the AD, and some of the close football boosters wanted this out months ago realizing that the best chance for a decent coach would be much greater at that time. Why he waited until now to release this info who knows, but the only ones who may suffer at this point will be the kids. I did hear that one or two members of the coaching staff may be retained which will help with the current players, but the schools next choice must be a SMART one. This incoming class of freshmen have some good talent and the right coach may fall into a very good situtation for the future, not to mention some of the kids they have coming back in the upcoming season which may help them become more competitive.

Nothing against Coach O, he is a very good person, but just not ready to develop a start up program. I commend him for trying to take on a difficult task, but this job needs to be filled with some experience.

Good luck on your search Mustangs.

  14. Corey Bankamper, the son of Campbell County wrestling coach Mike Bankamper was very seriously hurt in an accident at Lake Cumbeland. At this point he has gone through a number of operations, but still has a long way to go for recovery.

Not only is Mike a great coach, but most importantly he and his wife Camey are GREAT people and GREAT parents. Corey is currently at UK Medical Center. Please extend your thoughts and prayers for the Bankamper family.

  15. I think it hurts teams more than it helps them. Too much time off, and they could lose their focus, and the feel of playing in a game. Practice can help, but it's nothing like playing in a game of this atmosphere. Too much time off hurts, IMO.

Knowing Coach Carr, I will bet that his players are glad it is game day. Most of Coach Carr's practices are more intense than most games that are played:D

I don't see Scott letting down at all this game. If they can prevent Montgomery from getting out to a lead early and have them play Scott's tempo look for this game to be a good one!! Coach Carr and his team seem to be coming together at the right time, so look for the Eagles to give Montgomery all the can handle and if it comes to the last second shot......... than you know who my money is on.

    Good luck Eagles!!

  16. Way off subject here.

I wasn't there last night, but the "if you don't like the officiating, do it yourself" is stupid logic (I would use much stronger language if I could). Granted basketball is a tough game to officiate. Maybe the most difficult. However, I don't think it is unreasonable to expect those that agree to do it to actually be able to do it.

9th region officials are terrible. Maybe everywhere in the state high school officials are terrible, because good ones rise through the ranks to college. However, just because they are the best available doesn't make them any less bad.

You may consider it stupid logic, but if you don't like what is going on than is it better to do something about it or just sit and type and complain??? You are correct it is a difficult job that is why only a certain few choose to do the job!! So, in my stupid logic I guess that I will support the stripes that choose to do the job rather than beat them up.

  17. That's exactly what I am saying and I think you're trying to say 'partial' every time you said 'impartial', but I think everyone knows what you were trying to say. I don't personally know the refs so I couldn't possibly know their reasons why. I believe that the Birds ultimately are a better team and that they'd go further into post-season play than NCC. If I could surmise, which would not be fair of me, I'm guessing that it's possible that they too want to see the best teams advance to better the chances of the 9th Region, aren't too wild about the blind draw, know that if they've got something to say about it they sure can have a voice and a hand in it to do so. I'd like to see the best teams advance too only if it doesn't leave a bad taste in the mouth and the winning team does so without any help. Ya gotta let it happen out on the court and not let your personal desires interfere with the outcome. That's probably asking too much of humans, but until we figure out how to have robots call the game, it would be nice if they would let the players decide the outcome themselves. Whether their actions were unintentional or blatant, I do not know. I just know that it smelled rotten to me. I don't think I'm pointing out anything here that hasn't happened before in the history of the game or any officiated sport. You just want the officials to be as impartial as possible. I don't know it anyone remembers Tommy Thompson, but that guy, human and all, called a game as straight as humanly possible. I'd like to see more callers like him. I could never detect from him at all who he might've wanted to win a game. Others seem to wear it on their sleeves and know that most people will say a fan is sour grapes if they protest. I'm a fan of the game though and wasn't rooting for any particular team. Refs have a hard time fooling guys like me. I guess you can say that when I go to a game I can impartially officiate the officials. Not my job, but I guess if there's anything I can say about it this is the best place to do it. Thank you BGP's for the opportunity to vent.

With your knowledge of the game, it sounds as if you would be a GREAT official. So with that being said, all you need to do is to go to the KHSAA web-site or talk to a current official that you feel is a good(if you think that their are any) get your patch and have at it. If you choose not to do the above than I guess you have no issue.

As my momma always said, "if you can beat them, than join them", so with that being said sounds like it is time for you to join??

Good luck and hope see you on the floor next year:D

  18. Does everyone really think that this is in the best interest for the program?? Not knowing the complete story, but taking a real good guess, It sounds like this was just for the win. A coach must think about the long term effects of this move. While the coach may have gained a win, he may have lost the respect of the frosh players that have been there all year long. Is a win really that important to risk the future of the program?

  19. I have not seen them play but a couple of times early in the year.

Weak inside, guard play is weaker. They are too slow to press. Most times they just stand around on defense. On offense they like to shoot the tray.

Maybe, they are becoming a better overall team or just that the 10th regional is not that strong in "A" schools.

PM are you and Mustang also selling some swamp land in Flordia?
