I think LSU will have 3-4 TO's and UK will take advantage. Just a feeling, call me crazy but....

    LSU - 34

I get one, every now and then. Great game and Lexington, will be rocking tonight.

    Show off. :D

  2. Lets not get personal guys.

    Just joking around here.

I do have to say that it is interesting that westsider has not posted his comments about the outcome and the total domination of JC in this game. I know it kills his soul for someone east of I-75 to win a game like this against one of the Louisville big boys or of anyone else west of I-75, but I would like to hear his take. I'm sure that if JC would have gotten drilled we would have had to listen to the I told you so's 5 minutes after the game was over.

  3. I think it just proves how well Coach Shelton teaches the game. All of these programs will be well coached, prepared, and competitive I can guarantee that.

Coach Shelton has also had many of his players come back and coach with him at Cumberland.

Right now, former staff ace Adam Walker (2006 grad) is the pitching coach there.

  4. :thumb::D My Carp recipie:

    Wooden Plank Grilled Carp

    (1) carp, cleaned, scaled with head and tail removed.

    Favorite seasonings to taste.

    (1) cedar plank/board

    Lemon Juice

    1. Pre heat grill to a med. heat

    2. Have the cedar plank soaked in water for aprox. 1/2/ hour (to prevent burning)

    3. Place the carp on the board, seson inside and out with your favorite seasonings. Add / sprinkle some lemon juice on all sides of fish.

    4. Grill approx 7 min. per side untill done (meat flakes easily with a fork)

    5. Carefuly remove the Carp from the wooden plank and set aside

    6. Take the grilled carp and throw it out in the garden for fertilizer and then...................Eat The Board..................Enjoy. :thumb:

  5. Thanks for sharing your story. Not to many people get to experience what you and your son experienced. The KDFW has done an outstanding job of bringing the Elk population back to such great numbers that we now have the chance to hunt them if we choose to do so.

Perhaps too good of a job. Imagine hitting one of these monsters in a compact car. I think that maybe eastern Kentucky is still a little much populated for animals of this size to roam about and stand around on the highways. I know they are beautiful and magnificant animals to look at, but I think that wider open spaces are a safer enviroment for these animals, and especially for humans. White tailed deer are safety hazards enough.

  6. Brought in 18k last night on the gates alone...Sounds like a good payday for both schools. But other than the money i dont see any reason to keep it going. Invite two different teams in and rotate it back and forth just like they are doing and the home team plays the second game. They will still get good money for both school. probably not as much but anything helps.

At this point Johnson Central could probably play another local powerhouse team and still bring in a big gate payday and more than likely would come out money ahead to schedule another high level team of special interest, but it is very obvious that Paintsville cannot bring fans to the stands at this point in time. Johnson Central fans probably outnumbered Paintsville fans last night by a 6 to 1 ratio. If the money was split porportionaly it would be about a 15k payoff for JC rather than the 9k that came with the equal split.

When Paintsville had the regional runner up team in 2005 their fans did not even fill half of the home side bleachers when they hosted the playoffs. I remember Lynn Camp coming into town that year and bringing more fans than what Paintsville had supporting them in their home stadium. Keep in mind also at this game there was many JC fans in attendance for that game that helped fill several seats on the Paintsville side. For some reason there just does not seem to be the interest in the football program that there once was even when Paintsville has had some pretty good teams, and that was a pretty good 1A football team that year. If playing in the playoffs for all the marbles cant bring the fans out, then it sounds reasonable that they cant play anyone else other than JC that would put fans in the stands to help support the athletic budget.

This is a must game for Paintsville right now, and one that is not nearly as important for JC as far as revenue production. They could draw other teams that would generate almost as much fan interest and not have the 50/50 split. I think the Touchstone Energy Bowl is a good indication of that fact. As a matter of fact Paintsville will continue to lose money by playing this game on their home field when it rotates because of the lack of fan accomodation. They come out much better financialy to play this game at Eagle field. Paintsville needs to hope that for whatever reason Johnson Central decides that this game continues to be played. If you are Paintsville, something has to produce revenue to keep the lights on over on Jefferson Avenue.

  7. This game is too big of a mismatch to help Paintsville prepare for the district games. The score could just as easily be 80-0 (or 80-7) and keep in mind that Paintsville entered the game this year with only one loss. The Tigers don't have the depth to compete with Johnson Central and unless the JC program suffers a total collapse, that will be the case for years to come. The Tigers are not likely to win another regular season game. Getting routed in the Apple Bowl like clockwork takes a lot of the joy out of walking around Apple Day on Friday and Saturday.

The Tigers' Daniel Pugh was a great quarterback, but he ran for his life on every single pass play in his last Apple Bowl game. I don't know what kind of line Paintsville has this season but the last game that I attended, the Golden Eagles totally dominated the line from start to finish. Those are the kind of games in which career ending and life threatening injuries most often occur.

I hope that Paintsville finishes the season with enough players still on the roster to make a decent showing in the first round of the playoffs. Paintsville has a small enrollment and losing by lopsided scores every year in the Apple Bowl will take its toll on team numbers if it hasn't already.

How many players did Paintsville dress last night and how many of them were freshmen? What kind of middle school team did they field this season?

Paintsville came into this game undefeated.

  8. It always feels great to walk around on apple day wearing the black and gold with pride!

I'm saying this kindly. All of us have to grow up at some point in our lives. There is only one person over 18 that should be gloating.

I wonder if Thom Cochran will be wearing a Black and Gold Jersey around town celebrating that butt kicking that he gave Bill Mike in the battle of the AD's?

  9. Wow,

I should take that as an insult but its actually a compliment as I will point out.

I actually can discuss Ohio Football, Kentucky Football, even pretty good on good ole Alabama football. I just like football and running a spread offense is easy to say, lots of teams claim to do it, but much harder to actually do. However the key to running an effective spread offense is speed and precision, thats what makes it tough. Wheelersburg doesn't do it well and if you watch them thet really don' t do it at all its just an attempt to spread you out to run the ball. Again they lacked the team speed to effectively run a spread. But I'm sure thats what you were meaning to say, right ? Woodford does it well and the key is team speed. Did you notice they never use a huddle ? On the go from start to finish . Now that we have that out of the way, are there any other questions you need me to answer ??

You said that Wheelersburg was a slow, grind it out type of team. Perhaps you are the one that should watch them play. I already have and they are in no way that type of a team. They do have a lot of speed , but admittingly with no one of the calibre of Shawnie Lewis. He really stands out amongst everyone else on the field and his abilities are utilized to the maximum in Woodford County's offensive and special teams stategy. He is a very special player and his talents are obviously showcased. Other than him though, I would not say that it is all that much more obvious that Woodford as a whole is that much faster.

  10. What a great game Woodford and Johnson Central. JC is a good team and we look forward to playing them again, closer to home this time. For those who saw the game it was the speed of WC and their physical play that set the tone from the start. If not for two unforced WC turnovers the score would have been worse.I wish some of the JC fans would leave their QB alone. He did what he could with the time he had. Those fumbles, all but one were the result of a defense that can hit and was underestimated. The interceptions were the result of a potent pass rush and good secondary coverage. As for the notion that JC has seen any team speed like they faced with WC, that is ridicolus. This is the fastest team they have seen in three years. The Ohio teams JC played are slow grinding teams. I found it interesting that most on this site thought this an upset , while those who follow football around the entire state found this predictable.
Boy, you certainly do know your Ohio football.

Wheelersburg ran a spread offense, and was by no means slow. Perhaps not as fast as Woodford, but nothing close to resembling a slow grinding type team.

  11. I am proud to say that I supported him. However, even I didn't see them playing at this level as a long time Cats football fan, I haven't had the pleasure of seeing this level of football from UK week to week since the late 1970's.

I was around to watch those teams from the late 70's and I think that what we have now is much more special than of what those teams acheived. If you take the time to look in the history books, Fran Curci had to cheat to get teams of that magnitude, and ultimately got Kentucky put on probation. Kudos to Coach Brooks for building a winner the right way.

  12. First of all I love the way with one loss you start calling people out and saying we need to change everything. I guess you cheer when it is great and start calling everyone out on a loss. It is very difficult when a team is one dimensional and that one dimensional is hurt. After that a defense can just pin their ears back and do what ever they want. How about the drops that some of the receivers had? I only seen him under throw one receiver and that was Ian. It is very hard to make great throws when you can't even set your feet without two defenders chasing you. I can't understand the comment that jc needs a new QB when I saw many mistakes by everyone. Give JK that amount of time that Duckworth had and he has 300 yards every game. Yes Nathan played great but after the game was out of reach. He needs to learn to hang on to the ball!!! What about the defense? We didn't tackle anyone. We just tried to arm tackle and against good football teams that don't work. I for one thought that Woodford came ready to play and JC was a little overconfident. Games like this happen when you are talking about young kids. It makes you sit back and scratch your head. I think in the long run that this will help JC and make them work a little harder. Nothing like a good butt whoopin to get your head on straight. Either you grow up or quit and I hope for one that they take this loss and grow with it. No reason to point fingers. Congrats Woodford and hope to see you again down the road. Did you guys enjoy you trip to the nest?:ylsuper:

    Your pretty much right on.:thumb:

I do think that perhaps it was Nathan's breakout game of what is to be seen out of him in the future.

  13. Most of my comments regarding Johnson Central are discarded pretty quickly by the JC faithful, but if you go back and check what I've said about the Eagles the last three seasons I've been pretty much on the money.

Except I didn't see this score happening. But I think my comments about Woodford being the best team on JC's schedule the last three seasons stood up pretty well.

Big win for Woodford, especially on the road.

    Sheer genius westsider.:thumb:

All of eastern Kentucky just cant emphasize that enough.

  14. He is talking about overall....and he is correct!

Well, it doesn't say much for Kentucky then, to be behind a team that played terrible with only 28 seconds left in the game. I am a UK fan , but UK made their fair share of bone headed plays. They certainly did not look great the whole night either. Lets face it, if there would have been perhaps as little as 10 more seconds on the clock, the UL fans could be the ones celebrating.

  15. U of L was Game 1 of the tough schedule and they seemed to handle that pretty decently. U of L has zero chance at a national title now. I didn't say anything about the Cats in the top 20, that would take a 5-0 start. Brohm may not technically be eliminated from the Heisman race, but IMO he doesn't have a chance now. It hasn't been much of rivalry with U of L winning 4 consecutive games. Brooks may have had security with UK, but now he also has security with the fans.

Personally I think the matchup of White/West Virginia will have more of a bearing on his status than last night's game. Last night's game was big for us instate people, but the national audience is more concerned with Louisville vs. West Virginia. West Virginia is the #3 ranked team in the country and some polls had them preseason #1.

  16. Just got home...I am beat....Awesome game to be at. The atmosphere was UNREAL. Kentucky played a great game, Louisville played a terrible game, simple as that. The defense is ridiculous. I really don't even have words for it. The Cats finally got their big win against the Cards. Congrats UK fans. :thumb: I'll be pulling for you guys the rest of the way.

Think here for just a moment. They were ahead with only 28 seconds left in the game.

  17. Isn't Jody the AD @ West Jessamine? If things were that unorganized then perhaps he felt that there were no assistants on staff capable of running the program and perhaps felt that it was his responsiblity as the school's AD to bring some stability to the program for the remainder of the year or for such as when a permanent replacement is found.
