  1. Good season Birds, thanks for the excitement.

LexCath my hat is off to you all. You came into to the Birds nest and pushed us around all night. The LexCath team I saw tonight actually reminded me alot of last years edition of the Birds. The d just flew to the ball. Dare I say, gulp, the Birds were out athleted tonight.

    Congrats to both teams.

  2. I have seen the Jefferson kid in action and I'm telling you I would love to have him on my team. He is an amazing athlete(possibly best in NKY). He can hurt you in so many ways.

As for the Thomas kid, I only got to see him live once but I have seen highlights of him through the year. I again wouldn't mind having a 6'2"-6'3" athletic kid who can flat out run stretching the field for me.

  3. I heard a head coach speaking one time and he said that head coaches are only as good as the people they surround themselves with. It's a given that Yeagle is an amazing coach whos accomplishments speak for themselves. At the same time he hasn't done it all by himself. Evidently he must have some pretty darn good understudies over there in the other Ft. :D. Why wouldn't the Tigers try to stay in house with a replacement even beyond Burnett? Of course all this is mute if Yeagle comes back again next year.

  4. LexCath's strength is QB Burke running; if CovCath stays disciplined in rush lanes, LC will have trouble because they cannot run the ball like HHS did Saturday. CovCath can make them one dimensional, outside of Burke, who has committed to NC State by the way.

I didn't know Burke was that dangerous with his feet. I thought he was highly touted as a gun slinger.

I think it will be a very interesting matchup. All I know is I'm glad they get to find out before us. It very well may wind up being a shoot out.

  5. The topic of this thread is that a player is ruled ineligible. He should have been ineligible all year long. But now the Highlands players didnt get the chance to prove they could go through a season and be as successful as they are without their best player who is by the rules illegal. Also the teams they played had to face them with someone who shouldnt be on the team leading them. Its a mess unfair to all the players involved.

The Highlands fans and players are victims here. Some are in denial that what was done was the wrong decision by whom ever.

The people who have done Highlands wrong are the people who ruled the kid eligible when it was clearly against the rules.

And the coach rolled the dice and has left his team shorthanded and unprepared for the loss of Mitchell.

Reverse psychology; interesting technique. I think I studied that in my Psych 101 class in college. I take that back I think I saw it yesterday on a rerun of the Cosby show when Theo wanted Rudy to do him a favor.

Please spare me the drama. We'll be just fine without your tears. Thanks anyway though.

  6. stillblueafterall,

So your saying that other players on your team would have definitly stepped up and played as well as your best player? Come on, thats weak. Bell is a team just like Highlands is a team. But you take Robbins, Barton, or Rogers off Bell's team its going to have an effect on how good we are. And that goes the same for Highlands.

I'm not trying to take anything away from Bell or their kids they are an amazing group of competitors. I'm just trying to say that Highlands will not ball up and die because they are missing one of their 'stars'. I believe Bell would be a lot worse off without Robbins than would Highlands without Mitch.

  7. That doesnt matter. All 3 of those players could atleast play at Eastern or Western and have been recruited by them. You take away Mitchell you guys drop off. Most of the yards Mitchell got Friday night were from breaking tackles, not from him having big holes to run through. Hes a big strong fast back that is a difference maker.

So I guess you have never seen Hubbard run (please see Hubbard vs. Cov. Cath '04' and Boyle '03') or Nevels (please see Nevels vs. Mason Co. '03') or for more current footage (Nevels vs. Oldham '04')

  8. So next year we'll just bring back Durrell White, get Payton Manning and Randy Moss and it will be ok because they just moved here to play football. So when they beat everyone and we get caught for cheating we can just say everyone should have beat us in the first place. Face it Highlands took a gamble playing him and should have paid for it. Instead they have a chance at a state title and they still might not have to forfeit any games. So apparently if you're good enough at cheating then it's ok.

I tell ya what you can have them all plus I'll throw in Pinner as long as you can prove they're all high school age kids. :dancingpa That is the one thing that people are omitting when they try to compare Pinner's case with this one.

  9. First off let me say that this is a shame that any KID has to be in the middle of all this. If anybody thinks this wasn't calculated then you are kidding yourself. Dust just happens to get kicked up the week of the final ... oh yea by the way I own some swamp land in the middle of Ft.Thomas that I can sell you for really cheap :creepy:

As far as games past I think a lot of people need to step back and look at the whole situation.

Cov Cath fans: over the past two years you were beat 2 out of 3 games in which Mitch had little or no impact in. (heck last year we beat you and you had him)

Bell fans: I know many may be upset right now but believe me when I say there are several players on the squad who could've/would've done the same thing to you. (several have made identical plays already this season in games prior)

Boyle fans: I think you all realize the game still has to be won on Saturday between the lines. I also think you realize that there are a couple more guys who can step up and make similar plays to that of what Mitch made this season. (hopefully not ;) )

The rest of the Birds opponents: You all saw first hand what most of the other guys are capable of.

If I were Mueller I would lose a little sleep tonight and may even shed a tear or two. I would then look at my roster and realize that I still have Hubbard on my squad and begin to feel a little better about myself. (Depending on if he has a numerical or alphabetical roster) I would then scan up/down several names and suddenly one would jump out at me that I have pretty much forgotten about for the majority of the season. The name of my other current D1 recruit who by my good fortune just happens to have experience at both running back and safety. :ylsuper:

The game may not play exactly to the script that I imagined but I still envision the trophy coming back up north. The Birds will just have to fly on the backs of a couple different numbered jerseys.

  10. With regard to most NAIA they don't give shcollies per say. They call them "perfomance grants" (at least in my experiences)

You don't see full rides given out by these schools, they get together a package deal which generally includes financial aid, student loans, academic money, and athletic grants. This is why it is so important to "make the grade". It will enable these such small schools to give you more money in the package.

You are correct, I knew guys who got $250-$500 a semester in athlectic money and then there were guys who got several $1000. One misleading factor when it comes to money is most of these schools cost around $10,000 or more per year.
