So you want some public schools to change the way they conduct themselves? What if they don't want to and why should they?
If we are going to ask that private schools conform to these boundries and rules then the public schools should also do the same. The whole point of this is to make the playing field the same for all.
-
That is not what you said.
You said, "There's a simple fix...Get the private schools to agree to the same kind of boundries that the public schools are restricted too and there you have it...."
Private schools do agree to the same boudaries some that public schools are restricted to (basically none).
Now do you want to add that other public schools have to agree to the boundries that some public schools are rstricted to?
All schools public, private, independent or any other should only be allowed to get their students from the same county that that school is in.
-
They are not in the same county.
You said you want privates to agree to the same boundries as public schools but I just showed you an example of a public school student who could attend a public school in another county just like a private student could.
That's the way it is right now, so you have your wish, and everything is okay right now isn't it?
No,the point was that public and private schools both should be limited to getting their students from the counties that they are in.If the student wants to go to that school they need to live in that county.
-
Under the system now there are alot of public school district that will allow kids from any county to come to their school if they pay tution.
That should be changed if the private schools are limited to getting their students from the county that it is in.
-
So if I can live in Ludlow and go to Highlands and pay tuition (much less than at private school)........or I can live in Fort Thomas and pay tuition to go to Ludlow why can't I live in Fort Thomas and pay more tuition to go to a private school in some other city?
As long as you physically live in the same county as the private school or the independent then you should be allowed to attend either.
-
Well funky had the answer so we all wouldn't be tired.............except for one little problem.
There is no problem. The county that school is in is the boundry.
-
Some Public schools (e.g. independent school districts) do not have boundaries because they accept students from other districts. Some actively solicit students from other districts via advertising. There is nothing illegal about advertising a good product. Some public schools have open enrollment whereby students in say a county can choose what school they want to attend.
But if they are not in that independent schools boundries they have to move into it or pay tuition to go to that school.
-
Okay for the 934th time. Some public schools now are not restricted to boundries and all public schools could not be restricted to a boundries if they so chose to be.
Come again?

While not officially "taking a side", the article appears to slant in the direction one would expect from a newspaper which serves two of the more likely beneficiaries, (Danville and Boyle County) if the privates were banished to their own playoffs.
The observation that "Money is seldom a problem at private schools" obviously came from someone that never sat in on a parochial school budget meeting!! I'd be interested in seeing how many of the swimming, tennis, cross country, etc. titles were won by a handful of schools. I doubt the vast majority of schools, public or private even have tennis or swimming teams!! Also interesting was the lack of the private's superiority in football and basketball!!
Considering the past history of these two schools success in football, especially Danville's in three of the four classes, I don't think that they are looking to be beneficiaries, or need to be, of private schools being in their own class...

I think being called a Louisville fan when you are a UK fan is worse...Originally posted by Mr.NetworkI hate to do it but I have to make a Citizen's arrest for violation of Guru Penal Code Rule #1 (GPC 1).
Skyhawk, put your hands on your head and step away from the keyboard.
It is very offensive for a Kentucky boy to be called an "Ohio boy". What could be worse??
I'm from Ohio but lived here for 17 years plus but still a Buckeye thru and thru but pull for UK when they are not playing the Bucks in anything...GO BUCKS....
Now Tennessee fans,that's another story:D :D
Who's just tired of all this?

Yes it would be the same for any county. Now what are the chances that all the students in one county would want to go to that one school? Considering traditions and rivalries and so on...
