I want to talk about the game!
Anyone think Highlands is underestimating Cooper?
Not likely. These kids are focused!

It’s called home field advantage for a reason People! It’s the higher seeded teams reward for a well played regular season!

I heard it was really bad and some Highlands parents are out of control at games.
Listen up Fort Thomas powers that be, the next time it happens, kick them out.
Your source was wrong. Nothing happened other than a fan blowing a horn. Not a compressed air horn, but a horn blown with your mouth…….ooooohhhh big conspiracy here Ru!!!!! This all a bunch of silliness about nothing. Move on!

I’m not gonna log any complaints about tonight win against a physical team. GO Birds! On to Semis!

This is the Geisler & Benke show! This is an unbelievable display of power football. Dixie is not even in this game.

Feel bad for the Ads. 10 years ago they were playing Highlands this late in the season for a game that actually made a difference in playoff standings.

This was an impressive win for the Baby Birds. Totally dismantled the Colonels tonight. The future looks bright for the Birds for Sure! Bluebird Nation Hopes Spencer will be OK.

Just takin care of business type of game for the Birds tonight.

Highlands Frosh could have won the Beechwood game by as much as they wanted. It happened to be 48. Lorenzen is as good as any Freshman on the field. They just let him play many different positions. He would be dominate at any one position should they choose to play him that way, but they don’t. No way one kid makes up a 7 or 8 TD difference.

LexCath by a ton. Game over by Halftime.

Dixie in a closer than expected game 28-24

I’m simply stating what birds fans state all the time, it appears they can’t make up their mind. Hayden stinks, Hayden is the greatest OC ever, Hayden this, Hayden that.
The Blue Colonels just need to worry about getting in some meaningful reps somehow over the next five weeks. Their schedule does them no favors in the effort to continue to get better.

His line isn’t bad either!

30-7 Birds. 47 seconds left in Half.

STUD!!! Congrats Big Fella!!!!!!!!!

This was “Business Trip” for the Birds. Kids were focused and not overly fired up. Just got in and got out. This could have been much worse with a little more emphasis on the run game late. They were gashing the Rams for 6-10 yards a carry in the 2nd half. On to next week.

NKY football is definitely better when the river schools are competitive. Go Tigers! Love it!

I haven't ever know the KHSAA to budge on transfer eligibility on basis of religion. The issue will have to be handled in the courts now since it's a state law and not just a KHSAA bylaw, but are you saying that the Harneys intend to argue in that Cash should be eligible to play sports at CovCath next year on the basis of the transfer being religiously based? LOL
The Harneys better start showing up every single blessed Sunday wherever they go to church and tossing double or triple into the collection plate. LOLOr they could just move and send him to the public school of their choice if they have a Bonafide change of address, could they not?

Rob and I became friends. One time, he gave me a heads up on an issue he saw as a problem for me and wanted to make sure I was aware of what was going. Always appreciated his friendship & loyalty.
He was a loyal friend for sure. I hope to open a bottle of Kentucky’s favorite Spirit that Rob gave to me about a year before he passed in his honor the next time his beloved Bluebirds win a State Championship. Hopefully in the next 3 years while my Son is playing for the Birds.

I would never argue with John Schlarman!
On a side note.... our Triple Screen that we developed at Mason County and was really good for us, all the way up to the 2021 season at Mercer County, the read for that play came from Coach Schlarman. He helped me with that part at the UK clinic one spring. Great football mind!
One more thing... his 2005 Newport team was awful good. Gave the Russell Red Devils all they wanted on on their way to the state title... 34-33 loss in OT, state quarterfinals.
John was a he k of a player and coach.....and an even better man! I still can't belie e both him and Big Rob Reynolds are both passed on now. Great men!

I went up to watch them practice one afternoon in November. Believe it was the Ashland week. Not sure anyone said a whole lot, but they were a machine. On and off the field in about an hour and 15 minutes. Watched the defensive line do scheme review. For the next 30 years, that was the way we did it. Might have been the best HS defensive line I've ever seen. Impressive.
Those guys were big, strong, fast......and crazy. I know I've been told that Schlarman told the team they won't lose again after the first Covcath lose. And they didn't.

I'm gonna slide this in because I feel like - although one round outside of the rules - it is the greatest team to come up short in the last 30-35 years.
1992 Covington Catholic (12-1) - defeated in 3rd Round by Highlands, 14-7, on a muddy field after a night of storms drenched Wooten Field. A stunning upset by the Tom Duffy-led Bluebirds led by the great John Schlarman, Corey Scarlato, and Adam Crawford.
CovCath defeated the Birds, 42-21, at Highlands during the regular season, had just completed a 10-0 regular season, and breezed through the first two rounds of the playoffs. KHSAA officials, media/pundits, etc all believed the Colonels were such locks to make the state finals, they actually pre-published state programs with QB Adam McCormack's picture on the cover.
That Colonels team - that has been talked about often on here - included senior standouts McCormack, Chad Cogswell, Jude Hoffman, and Mike Hild. Youngsters adding to the impressive team were guys like Rick Woolf, Matt Rabe, Mitchell Jobe, Pete Wehrman, and steamrolling linemen Ben Belbot and Andy Halloran.
To this day, I still can't believe that game went the way it did. I was on the field and still think about that game often.
That HHS team had so.e Nasty Dudes on it for sure. Add Rob Reynolds, Jonny McGraw, Mikey Welch.......the list goes on!

That’s a shame for the Young men from BC. I thought they were vastly improved year over year under Warners Leadership. They played hard and were a class act win or lose, and that says a heck of a lot.
