  1. This was Lincoln County's guy. If my info is correct, he was the only one interviewed for this job when it came open a couple of years ago. Asst. Coaches very outspoken about the dismay within the program, lack of work ethic, lack of leadership, lack of cohesion. Fights in the field house during school hours, fall break fiasco.... I really doubt this was a mutual parting of ways.

Call me crazy.. but how about you just keep your helmet on till you're off the field?

I agree. Keep your hats buckled at all time while on the field, player safety 101. But losing your composure and taking your hat off on the field doesn't warrant being benched for the rest of the game. I would think the coach would give your senior captain more of a leash.

  3. A personal foul is one play. One mistake. You're benching a kid for the game for one mistake? In the previously mentioned cases, you're taking your start basketball player out for a technical? Benching a pitcher for hitting an opposing player? That is nonsense.

You have obviously never coached much of anything.

If a basketball player gets a T: He comes out.

If a baseball player intentionally hits a batter: He comes out.

If a soccer player earns a card: They come out.

But in this situation, a senior QB earns a personal foul and according to this thread, he shouldn't have came out? And it's coaching? A little bit of a double standard.

Where can I find these rules etched in stone?

My first time watching the Lions this year and I was not very impressed. Third game of the year so you can’t blame it on youth. QB just is not cutting it, can’t get stops on 3rd down, Hester finding out how the rest of the defensive coordinators live outside of the Kingdom of Boyle Co. on the bright side # 7 is a very nice player but it could be a long season for GC!

#7 for Garrard is a fine football player. Tough loss for the Golden Lions.

  6. Despite being an assistant coach at Lincoln County for a decade and a standout QB for the Patriots in high school, Rogers was spurned when the Head Coach job came open two years ago as he did not receive so much as an interview. Glad to see him come back and get a win against his alma mater on the newly minted turf. This one has to be extra special. Hats off to the Casey County Rebels who controlled the line of scrimmage and were the better football team.

People like Calico Jack say things like that to make themselves feel good about their mediocre program and to disparage kids from making decisions that are best for them. Garrard would have been significantly better than they were with Quisenberry but I am sorry to tell Calico that he would not have the same opportunities if he was still there. He would have never been able to play on the biggest stage if he was still there because the school district does not care if they are successful. The UKs and ULs are not going to come watch Garrard County play a Rockcastle or a Bell. But they will go watch a FD play LCA or Boyle play LCA. The field is loaded with top level talent when teams like the above mentioned play each other.

In regards to jimmies and joes, when you get to the top level of play, everyone in the semifinals and championship games has them. If your belief was true then the team with the most talent would win every year and I know Boyle has been outgunned a few times and still won. Coaching, culture, etc is what separates in the end.

If the talent is there, the scouts will be there as well, so I adamantly disagree with the statement that scouts will not go watch Garrard County's games.

Furthermore, isn't it a bit out of line to presume that the school district (Garrard County) does not care if its student athletes are successful?

I believe that list of coaches is a little generous. Who has over achieved relative to their talent OR who was predicted to be at the top and has lived up to that expectation?

As far as that list of teams, I think those teams could all beat each other on a given night but sone of those are  unlikely to be able to string together enough quality wins to win region.

Totally agree with you on both accounts.

  9. The top names that come to mind for me are... Wade Davis: McCreary Central, Jeff Jackson: Lincoln County, John Fraley: Pulaski County, Denny Webb: Boyle County, Ryan Young: Somerset, Rodney Woods: Wayne County, Damon Kelley: West Jessamine.

I believe the following 8 teams can win the 12th region this year... in no specific order.

Boyle, DCA, Somerset, Danville, West Jessamine, McCreary Central, Lincoln County and Pulaski County.
