I agree with Southerboy, Ryle doesn’t have 10 players returning that played significant minutes. They actually only have 4....Scheer, Douthit, Crittenden and Johnson. They were without 2 of those for the SK game, Scheer and Johnson. SK played a great game and deserved the win. It would have been a much better game if Ryle had Scheer and Johnson available.

In my humble opinion, Ryle has the best player in the region and a good supporting cast. Most of the top teams in the region last year lacked depth as well. I actually thought Conner was the best team most of last year, however, they didn’t have the best player in the state and that could be the difference again this year. Ryle is still the clear favorite going into next season until someone beats them in a meaningful game.

It would be shocking if Ryle didn’t think they could win too IMO. Should be a great game, Dixie’s coach is one of the best in the region/NKY.

When looking at strength of schedules and overall record for the season, you could make an argument that Northern Kentucky has the 2 best teams in the state. Take a closer look at the tournaments these two teams have won this year. Not taking anything away from the other top 5 schools, however, there is a clear separation in who they have played and beaten IMO. Good luck to Conner and Ryle.

I think the reason why people thought of it as a one horse race was because Ryle had only lost 1 regional game in 2 years. They also lost to Conner for the first time in 2 seasons. Conner and Highlands are having great years along with Ryle. Going to be a great postseason.

This will be a tough game for Ryle without McGregor. Conner is ranked #1 and is playing as well as any team in state. Should be a great game....Conner in a close one by 8/10 points.

Conner by 8/10; Ryle has lost 3 of last 5 on schedule. Conner is playing better or as well as anyone in state currently. Should be a great game!

Professor....exactly what I said yesterday. There is not a clear cut #1 this year and it is wide open. You could have a team who gets hot at the right time like Lincoln County did this past weekend. Great discussion.....

Last night around the state showed there isn’t a clear cut number 1 like the last two years. (Mercer Co) I must agree with the previous post, how can you be number 1 in the state when it isn’t clear you are the best team in your district or region?

Ryle can definitely lose this game because both teams are solid, however, not sure they will lose by 15/20 points. Seems like a lot for a talented team IMO.

I agree totally Big Blue05. Conner and Highlands can give Ryle a game, however, not sure either can beat them on neutral court down the road in region.

I agree with the statement earlier, Ryle isn’t the hands down number 1 team in the state. All those polls depend on which one you are looking at early in the season. Bluegrass preps is the only place I have seen Ryle number 1. They are in the top 3/4 in others. Not sure you can say they are #16 in the nation when many people don’t believe they are the clear #1 team in the state. IMO, Highlands over Ryle on their home court isn’t an upset. Highlands is loaded with talent and should be able to compete easily with Ryle.

Just curious as to why Highlands would be an upset win over Ryle if they are loaded? Sounds like the game might be a toss up since it is at Highlands.

If I am correct, didn’t Ryle beat Conner 3 times last year and a couple of the games were blow outs. Should be good games but Ryle should be favorites hands down.

I believe they actually return their top 7/8 players. Not in a rush to get to next season yet.
