  1. It was definitely nice to visit "the cage" again. So many great memories there. With that being said I think the scrimmage indeed served its purpose. The Birds are hungry and played determined to show they want to return to the elite of the region. It also reminded our team while we are talented we lost a lot of experience and need to focus on coming together to have a great year. Hopefully that was a nice wake up call and I do think the Rebels will respond well

Side note, since I do coach Lorenzen in the summer I might have smiled a bit when she hit that homerun. Since it was just a scrimmage my reaction was definitely happiness. Not sure how I will respond in two weeks.....The joys of coaching high school and summer ball both.

Good luck to everyone this year!!!!!!

  2. Birds took the lead with one in the bottom of the first.

Star Smith came through for the Lady Rebels with a bases loaded double in the top of the 3rd scoring two to grab the lead.

Olivia Jackson went the distance in the win and chipped in offensively with two hits.

The Lady Rebels are off until next week. Another district game against Conner is on the books for next week.

  3. A little behind on updates, but Boone County was back in action last night after a 2nd place finish over the past weekend in the Shelby County Invitational. The win over Ryle last night has the Lady Rebels sitting 2-0 in district play thus far.

Liv Jackson went the distance and helped her own cause with a solo home run in the 2nd inning.

Jayda Collins with a two out bases loaded single to break it open in the 4th. Karys Black and Rylie Grau both with extra base hits.

The Lady Rebels are back in action today on the road against Highlands.

  4. Tight game throughout. We jumped on the board with a single run early then Campbell County tied it up in the top of the 4th on a Mckinlee Miller rbi single.

Jayda Collins came through in the bottom of the 6th with a bases loaded clearing two out hit. Campbell County did load the bases in the top of the 7th but failed to cross the plate. Final 5-1

The Lady Rebels will be heading to the Birdcage this Sat to play the Bluebirds.

    Go Rebels.

  5. Lady Rebels were trailing 2-1 heading into the 6th then 8th grader Morgan Daniels hit a two strike two out home run to tie it up, Her first career home run.

Carroll County takes the lead with one in the bottom of 6th.

We score 7 in top of 7th and hold on to win 9-5

Varsity heads to Walton Verona tomorrow. I will be at Dixie with the JV so my report May be delayed.

I don't have the book on me but I do know junior shortstop Shelby Wright was 5-5.

Not up to Lawnboy Status yet but that's like chasing Jordan when it comes to recaps

    Go Rebels.

  6. "Boone County Rebels – Just like last year, this team doesn't pass the "eye test", but Head Coach Andy Petridis' kids "get it done". Coach P consistently plays one of the strongest schedules in NKY to prepare for post-season play. The Lady Rebels only lost one player to graduation last year, but return one of the top pitchers in the 9th Region in Jr. Olivia Jackson (DI 2nd Team) and Jr. Shelby Wright (DI 1st Team) Also returning to the starting line-up on Burlington Pike is a load of experience in Sr's. Makenna Black, Jayda Collins (DI 2nd Team), Ryley Grau (DI 2nd Team), Kamryn Huff, as well as Fr. Star Smith. Also, look for 8th grader Karys Black to see a good deal of varsity action. This is a team that you can't sleep on"

Lawnboy you did well on this one. I can tell you there is some disappointment festering from the region loss to the "Birds" last year. Thus some crazy looks I get when I bring up last year more than I Should....LOL

We have 4 seniors who are determined to end their high school career going out on top. Our 4 seniors Grau, Black, Collins and Huff have been great to work with and their work ethic is translating to the younger girls. As Lawnboy stated, we are blessed with tons of experience and I love the fact that we are 12-15 deep with summer ball players in our program. The program knows in order to win in the Spring, the hard work starts now. Each practice, conditioning, drill needs to be treated as the last inning in a regional final.

As for the schedule, I absolutely love the schedule that has been put together. I have been blessed now to coach with two great coaches who understand the tough schedule does nothing but get you ready for the postseason.

Boone has always been silent on here so I figured I might shed some light a bit. Good luck to everyone this coming year!!!!

  7. Great additions for sure on the coaching staff

I now get to experience the frustration, nerves and JOY of coaching your own daughter. I must say it has been a blast. The move away from Highlands was a tough decision but things are shaping into place nicely at Boone. Definitely a great bunch of girls who work hard. Should be a great season and I will always be checking in on the Birds.

  8. Any time you lose 4 seniors who have moved on to play college ball you have some big shoes to fill. I can tell you being involved in that program for the last 4 years the girls are excited for this chance and upcoming season to continue the winning ways. Coach Coffey and his staff will do a great job getting the girls prepared mentally and physically for the upcoming season. The expectations are the same every year, and the girls buy into it and love the challenge.

Even though I am no longer apart of that program I will be watching and rooting for them (unless they are playing Boone Co of course).

It would be great to see a Boone Co vs Highlands Final. Hoping that I can hold a regional trophy with my daughter just like Coach Coffey has had the privilege of doing twice with this two daughters.
