  1. This Marion County team continues to impress. They looked great early, ran out of pitchers and gave up the big lead. It takes a mentally tough team to weather a comeback like that and still win. They may have found their 3rd pitcher today. A freshman came in and did pretty well to close out the game.

  2. Taylor played as bad as they have all season. No idea how to attack the press, sloppy passing, missed layups etc. Their best shooter from 3 only took 1 and never seemed involved. The teams that went to state the last 2 years would beat this one by 20. Injuries to Gaines wrist and McQueary elbow hurt them as well. Ballard was just too big, too fast, too good and will give Fern Creek a ballgame.

  3. Oliver is the heart and soul. He can not be replaced, but his little brother will be a freshman next year and is considered by most to be the better athlete. I think that he is more interested in football than basketball right now, but that could change.

There is also a lot of hope that Q' Goodin's brother will develop an interest in basketball. He will be a sophomore.

  4. Taylor is building a brand new high school and the new gym is going to be the nicest or close to the nicest in the 5th region. I believe the facilities will attract some local talent from the C-ville district. I still think they made a huge mistake in not locking up Bryan Milburn as head coach. He would have stayed there for 20 years and built a solid program that won for years to come. I'm afraid Maze will be a short stay and they'll be looking for a coach again in 2 years.

  5. I think the NCAA tournament is the biggest factor. The first four days of the tourney are the best TV days of the year. I know several people that take vacation days for Thursday and Friday so they can watch all day. If the choice is driving to Lexington for a Sweet 16 game or staying home and watching 4 NCAA tourney games in my recliner on tv, then I'm probably staying home. I think going to games in general, of any kind, is getting harder to justify. I see the games better at home, eat better, am more comfortable and it's cheaper.

  6. What role do the coaches play from the school the player is transferring from? I know of a high school baseball player that is being denied release by his old coach. The kid isn't even good, just an average player at best. There is no district championship possible for either team, let alone a state championship. The coach is just being a jerk. If he can stop this average player from being able to play by not signing a release, why can't the coaches stop the good players?

  7. I think the decision is more than just homesickness. There's a brother that is trying to get back in the picture and wants more control in the decision making process. Mom seemed very happy with the arrangement at district, region and state. Sloan girlfriend goes to Ballard, prom this weekend created some friction. He chose prom over practice with Memphis AAU team, thus change to new AAU team. Hope the best for the kid, but odd decisions after 3 problem free years.
