Shelby Valley onsides the opening kick off and Hazard returns it for the tuddy. Valley has 12 unsportsmanlike penalties and Hazard gets the clock running 5 minutes into the 2nd quarter. Bulldogs by 50.

This game is not a regional championship game. This is the 3A District 7 Championship. There isn't a 16 Region in football.
Homerun!

I found the above photo floating around on twitter.
Devils do you want the horns down again or do you want to show West Carter that they’re not going to come into our house and beat you twice in a row? The time is now go out there and smack West Carter in the Mouth and defend The R.
I never understood why people would try to punch someone with a facemask.

One year later...
No one can accept that little ol' West Carter, the heart of defunct Beckham Co., could compete with the Mayberrys and Beachballs of the world.

I'm rooting for the officials.

What a game by both teams. West Carter showed they were a team to be reckoned with. Luckily Cam Hergott was just the young man to do some wrecking. Cam is legit and has earned every award he is going to get this year. The kid has done nothing but be Mr. Everything for Beechwood. If Beechwood wants to compete next week they have to figure out their defense and the penalty situation. There must have been 20 holding penalties against Beechwood tonight. If they can do that it will be an entertaining Championship game.
Was anyone else aggravated with the officials constantly stopping the game for measurements and them being a yard or more either way? This day in age the measuring is only for 4th down really close measurements not on a 1st down play. Officiating was frustrating all night for me.
Yes, especially when looks and math will tell you it is a first down or not.

Easy sarge...tap the breaks. Threats aren't funny. Air hug from NKY to you buddy.
Good to hear the field looks good! Can't wait to watch this one. Things I want to see:
1. Leetavious Cline - one of the best players in the state vs. one of the best defenses in the state. How does Beechwood defend possibly the best RB in the state?
2. WCHS Defensive scheme - Coach Barker has shown himself to be one of the best in the state this season. What do the Comets look like in their first defensive series? Will be interesting to see what Barker and his staff come up with.
3. Beechwood's air assault on a grass field against a very good team. This is the first time - I think - the Tigers have faced a good team on a grass field. How do they respond with the surface? Does it impact their passing game?
It’s a joke not a threat , chief.
Run —>Grass —>Wet —>Mud—>Messy????

Anyone at the field yet? Fire trucks doing work?
It’s fine. If you keep running that joke into the ground it may get messy.

I wonder if he'll be doing the Super Bowl Shuffle at halftime Friday? Now THAT would be awesome. Maybe a mix of Jim with the various firetrucks/pumpers from around the region that will be doing work this week on the WCHS field. THAT would be an amazing halftime show.
He's took a lot of head shots, he may not be able to remember the choreography. It's "far"trucks by the way, THAT is the preferred nomenclature.

Have they played against a QB at the caliber of Hergott?
I heard Jim McMahon was at practice the other day. He bought some pasture land off Goose Creek.

Can any of the Comet faithful in here tell me if there's a press box/available internet at the WC football field? I understand there may be some regional/home coverage of this week's game, but does it seem feasible for multiple teams to cover/stream/broadcast? Having never been to WCHS's field before, I have no idea what their facilities offer or lack.
Thanks in advance!
Yeah, there’s a press box, think it came Cincinnati. Internet available, you will have to call the school and request to speak to an AD to see if there is available space. Should be someone by the tin can during the day. There are usually multiple radio/streaming broadcasts, and KSR will be there as well.
Could always bring a ladder stand and strap it up or a box blind.

The hill is his sanctuary, his peace. He hasn’t been the same since he wrestled Jackie Moon. He wandered down from Flint. Afro’s and spumoni are real triggers but he loves Mtn. Dew.

For those of you keeping track, remember the Tigers did all of that damage last night without standout sophomore WR/RB/OLB Mitchell Berger and starting junior MLB and special teams whiz Michael Hatfield.
Another thing to consider, Beechwood has only allowed one 100+ yard runner this entire season - Dixie's Pierce Rohlman, who gashed the Tigers for 167 yards on 29 carries. Rohlman's success that day can be laid mostly at the hands of a stout Dixie defense that challenged Cam Hergot and the Tigers O more than they've been challenged all season and QB Logan Landers playing one of his best games of the season putting the Colonels ahead giving them the ability to run often.
As great a season as the Comets are having, I don't expect their defense to push the Tigers the way it will need to in order to give LeeGOATavious and Orry Perry enough time on the field to do any real damage.
Here are the other top rushers each week against Beechwood:
Week 1 - Corbin - Cameron Combs 14-93-0
Week 2 - CovCath - Owen Nally - 14-60-0
Week 3 - Ryle - Mathias Cusick - 8-28-0
Week 4 - Dixie - Pierce Rohlman - 29-167-2
Week 5 - Holy Cross - Lavarr Jones - 9-53-0
Week 6 - Lloyd - Ethan Spaulding - 19-65-0
Week 7 - Newport - MyKel King - 3-25-0
Week 8 - NCC - Malaki Herndon - 13-27-0
Week 10 - Lloyd - Amari Riley - 18-47-0
*No names on Lane Weddle/BC last night yet.
117-566-2 TD's
PREDICTION: Beechwood 48, West Carter 7
I’ve always heard defensiveness wins championships.
