  1. I remember Boyle beating them in '99 in AA semifinals. Figured they must have returned some of that team to do well again the next year.

They returned skidmore the qb, one of the rbs I think and most of their line. Their defense was not near as good as 98 but skidmore ran that veer option better than anyone I saw

  2. Wrong year that 1999. They were in 2A that season.

No it was in 1998 when we played them. Then in 99 Middleboro moved up to 2a. Look at the schedule in the original post and you will see that breathitt clearly played them the 1st game of the season. In 99 branham and wynn were gone but they still have skidmore. Also Moore was not qb in 99 he had graduated and Allen Sperry was qb.

  3. I was on the breathitt team they beat in game 1. They beat us pretty good. Branham was as good a player as I played against. Skidmore was a great option qb very smart. We were a little down at the start of that year with Chapman transferring to pikeville. Remember it was televised on wymt we were #1 in 2 a and they were #2 in 1 a. Most memorable play was branham blitzing up middle and nearly bending our qb Kyle moore double. That was breathitt s first game in the newest stadium although the roof was not on yet..... Great team.

  4. I remember playing at Betsy layne in 97 with breathitt. The field was up behind the school nestled away in the hills. There we re several deer or tree stands all around the field where people hunted. Also saw a couple deer far end of field when we went out for walk thru. Also remember the old cawood field when the horse would run out on field. One of poo our players was nearly hit by it

  5. Personally I love the semis the way they are gives a person a chance to see a tea like Highlands or Beechwood that they normally would not. Also gives underdogs a chance that they may not have on neutral field. The thing I would like to see changed is state finals being in bowling green. Makes for a long drive for teams like belfry or Johnson central when a more centrally located field would be more ideal like commonwealth or even eku. This eliminates the opportunity for some fans especially in eastern Ky to see their team in finals because they simply cannot afford the trip
