  1. What's the old age quote....it's not how you start but how you finish right? All Lafayette has to do is control the clock and limit turnovers. Mix the run and pass and they will have a great chance

Sorry to hurt your feeling Lex......in no way can Lafayette be within 2 td's.....sorry but this is the all time lock of the year in any football game in any division at any level. Male in a running clock i agree.....sorry but the truth is just that.

  2. X Man comment......that is the DIFFERENCE between Trinity and St. X. I believe in my heart of hearts that someone that has X ties understands the X brotherhood. All students are St. Xavier students until they graduate then they become of the Xavarian Brotherhood.....You call that elietest....You obviously don't know anything about brotherhood.

I will use firefighters as an example. Are firefighters elietest? heck no. They call the guys they go to battle with not co workers but brothers....They can go to any firehouse across the country and be taken care of by their brothers.

That is what I see from the St. Xavier community. Elietest no! Brothers YES! As Bill Glaser says......There is someone in Louisville in every trade from St. X. If he wants his yard cut. he hires an X man. If he wants his chimney swept he calls an X man. If he wants a new heater he calls an X man. If he wants a car he calls an X man. That is what brotherhood is. In my opinion of course! Passionate about your school, classmates and all the classmates to come before and after you. That is an X Man

  3. To all the Trinity guys commenting.....If you really would like a discussion of the fundamental differences between the schools we should all get together and have a cordial meeting around a table with beer food and cool heads.........St. X has different academic standards like Notre Dame or Stanford or Michigan or Vandy.... Facts. Not every kid gets in. St. X does not take in kids because it will hurt their overall gpa but because they just do not offer the programs for kids that Trinity does.

In this meeting maybe you guys could clear up the rumors of the heavy hitter helping THE PROGRAM the way he has for years....all rumors! I am not saying one bad thing about Trinity I just do not know the ins and outs of the school because ive never been there. I seriously would love to get together and get the other side points of view. I hear Trinity alums havent been happy with BEATY because he has brought kids in from the public schools and the alum kids havent seen the field because of it.....I think it would be fun to discuss the 2 school

  4. St Xavier's mission statement is vastly different from Trinity's. St. Xavier, by choice, has a cutoff number for for test results in accepting students. Also, by choice, St. Xavier gives out far less financial aid than Trinity. In fact, Trinity gives out more financial aid than the other Catholic schools in Jefferson County combined.

I was surprised the way Coach Glaser was "rewarded" for his decades of service at St. Xavier. I was equally surprised Todd Walsh was told not to apply for the head coaching position at Tiger Tech.

I am personally quite happy with the state of the St Xavier program. There is a "cleansing of sorts" of the St X student body in process according to a former player and donor. He prefers the "product (graduating seniors) not be cheapened" by less than gifted students.

Does the University of Notre Dame mind being known for football, academics and superior fund raising efforts?

This is a thread for St Xavier alumni to comment. I am trying to abide by this premise. I felt the need to interject my thoughts on this topic.

the reason for Trinity giving 2.7 million in financial aid comes from the Archdiocese. St. Xavier is fully funded and receive no aid from other agencies. St. X alumni is their only source of aid. that is why we give 1.7 million vs the 2.7 million

  5. Are you sure about your numbers? Each year Dr. Rob Mullen asks Coach Beatty for the 22 starters. He looks at the numbers that went to the Catholic grade schools versus public. I don't remember a single year where the ratio wasn't at least 17:5 with Catholic grade schools in the majority. Many years it reached 20:2.

Also, I have a hard time believing Male is 100% public fed. Manual snags a large amount of Catholic School kids (for example, the four Ram brothers who used to be on this site) and I cannot imagine Male does not to a degree also.

Male hasnt been allowing any students in from non traditional programs hence one of the reasons opening up ghens. As for Trinity that was the rough numbers given by a Trinity guy on this site

  6. I waited to read what you guys had to say. I respect all of the X Alum opinion. THE issue isnt coaching guys. Will has some of the best coaches around him! He has an excellent staff of coaches. Former head coaches. IMO St. X does more with less on the football field. The city of Louisville as a whole is the issue. Parents are not sending their kids to Catholic schools like they used too. Parents are just spending their money on other things than education. The X man is still the X man. Look at Trinity for example over 15 of the 30 players they have that see the field are of the public school system. 100 percent of Male is. St. X is sharing the catholic school kids with Trinity, Desales and X. Looking at the program there was 95 freshman football players. Maybe 2 kids ran a sub 5 40 time. The skill athlete just isnt in the program or they are choosing to play LAX. St. X is not in a worse state guys. The players are just different. The teams they play are evolved. Male uses their athletes in space as does Trinity. its the jim's and joe's guys. I love the St. X program and school. I would not change a thing except the interpretation of the KHSAA rules of talking to athletes from public school which ST.X can not by rule interpretation.

I am a fan of St. X, their staff and their players and students alike.

Sorry to say this guys but I heard this from a Male staffer. Male is opening Ghens and they are upping enrollment 300-500 students. they will be able to get the non traditional school athlete now. PRP, Central and the likes will take a dip because of this. The rich will get Richer in the world of the athletes.

  7. Exactly... Trinity's starters have not played an entire 4 quarters for at least 6 games... Trying to get ready for next Friday bc they definitely will be in for 4 full quarters... And I don't recall X pulling any of their starters on offense either, just sayin

Why would St. X pull their starters when Trinity still has their starting D on the field? You think it was ugly with X's starters imagine X's 2nd team playing against Trinity's starters......

  8. And Male turned the ball over to X 5 times. I could argue that the reason X was close to Trinity in the first game was because Trinity gave X points. X can not count on either happening again.

good teams create turnovers. St. X is the hardest hitting team. that is why a lot of the turnovers are created. X punished male with good legal hitting. That is why the game was close and Male turned the ball over.

Who ever wins the turnover margin wins the game from here on out

  9. St. Xavier is and always will be relevant in Louisville. Yes they will have up and down years in football that's the nature of the beast for them. They will win state in baseball, wrestling, tennis, powerlifting, LAX, Soccer......ect. Football is king I know but St. X will always compete I can guarantee that. CAL and Desales are both good options for kids that want to play 3 sports and not have to worry about cuts. They do cut a small number from time to time in some sports though.

  10. Bruner is def coordinator. The only grade school coach I see is Miners and that guy has played at a college level and knows is defense I can assure u!. I don't think there is one coach on the staff without a lot of great coaching experience.

As for Desales....my take is they offer a very different product. They have 7 clubs and sports. They have 100 students in a class. A kid either just likes the small school or they like the idea they can play every sport no matter what because there is no fear of cutting or less competition for playing time when there are only 30 kids on a team versus 100. Desales is a good school for those kids. In my opinion!!!! I am in no way downgrading Trinity or Desales.

  11. Wow. Just Wow. I must say I am amazed by the comments here. So with a different head coach you guys are saying Cincy St. X would have lost? Looking at the Staff... They have added former head coaches along with a ton of great coaches. St. X also has coaches on the staff from the previous head coach.

Guys, look at the athletes. I think the issue is that St. X has about 98% of the team from CSAA schools. Look at Trinity - almost 50/50 CSAA and public school kids. Look at Male - 100% public school kids.

St. X does more with less as far as athletes. By that I mean kids that run 4.4 40's.

I love the St. X kids and would love to add some more public school kids striving for the best education money can buy.

Go Tigers! I am a fan of the staff. No staff out there has a guy like Bruner on it! That guy is by far the best defensive coordinator in the state of KY!

  12. Since you are a newbie, rest assured, I have very, very, very good sources from within, around, and near the St Xavier campus.

I will not throw anyone "under the bus". I am a lifetime Louisvillian who grew up near St Xavier and chose to attend Trinity. In years past, my occupation kept me close to the high school scene and I have maintained many of those relationships.

Interesting. Glad you as a Trinity guy are in the know as much as you are about the Tigers. I should just look for your post as if they are coming from a tiger informer. Being new I got it now.
