I feel like the Highlands offense felt a little off or something? I didn’t see much Hosea, he deserves more touches. Every time they ran Benke up the middle it was good things. Highlands defense was on top of things. Dunn may have had 3 interceptions. Class took one to the house. Homecoming King Woods had a good day on the DLine.

Hosea needs more touches.  #14 Surrey needs more - I thought he did a great job in Hinegardner's 2 week absence.  Not sure why they aren't using him more too...

SK was big!  Especially in the trenches!  My concern is other than Dunn and Robinson is anybody going to step up on that side of the ball.  Last year they did not run the middle the birds were killed off tackle and were toasted other than boler who is at Winton on the corners.  They found a way to penetrate but to be candid the offense was pathetic and the defense was on the field 75% of the time.  Noon needs his touches.  I will stack it up to Crone and his cronies were better!

This week I want to see something from dline and LB!!! Robinson and Dunn has done what I expected everybody else needs to look in the mirror.

If only we had LaFrange back to help them out.  The ship would be right.

    Yep…very sloppy

So, Birds fans...3 QB's and you don't have a quarterback at Highlands.  Heard Bob Sphere's press conference on why Noon isn't playing QB-wants in multiple positions good athlete.  Why is Benke out of the equation for QB?  Thought he looked pretty good when I saw him last year at Rafferty Bowl.  Is he seeing  the field at QB yet?   Sure has a lot more height than the younger guys.

I’ve heard some cool stuff about Highlands freshman RB Devon James. Heard he made the 1000 lb club. I actually coached against him when he was a 6th grader and he was a cheat mode dude then. He probably averaged a TD every other touch. Will he get varsity time this year?

Not quite 1000, but came pretty darn close.  I believe he logged in at 980 according to his fundraiser page.  My guess is he will see some varsity reps this year.  They have a great deal of options to work with as it stands now and he is in the mix.

Do they have a special teams coach?  I was told they did, but then that person did not come back after dead period?  Is this true?

That is true.  Believe his last name was Thomas (perhaps from a school in Cincinnati).  My understanding is there isn't a specific special teams coach, but multiple coaches are working with different aspects (PAT, KO, KO return, punt, etc.)

Can’t they do this on their own or with an art teacher or someone else as a supervisor?. If the kids have to be motivated to work hard by a coach and can’t do this on their own then imo a high dollar head coach isn’t going to change anything.

Kids motivation isn't this issue - they have been working out since November.  Athletic Director/Principal won't allow football team to workout.  Football is not a priority.  Need to change the logos on the weights in the weight room.

Well, if all and any of this is true then I say congratulations to those who released information before the school officially did.

The issue I see with doing this is the same as others have said. It’s not fair to the school he is leaving behind and more importantly the kids if they all get confirmation from anyone other than the coach himself.

Heck, this guy might renege on the deal because he can’t trust the people hiring him now. If you are a parent of a Highlands kid on here and that wound be the case then I would say thanks Mom or Dad...

Renege? Has he accepted? You know something we don't? I can assure that most of the Highlands parents are as frustrated about information being leaked this way before school announced or players are told.  The parents and players have been kept in the dark on process and search. Those that seem to be "in the know" are search committee members and family members/close friends of the search committee.  That's probably who I would congratulate if anything is reneged.

  8. The banquet was not bad at all, in fact it was it a very nice event. I have attended the banquet the "old" way with dinner and highlight video and this way with light refreshments and no video. Both venues and event styles have very successfully accomplished their intended purposes - to celebrate these young men and their accomplishments and growth this season. The coaches took time to speak about the Juniors/Sophomores looking ahead to next season & Seniors recapping success through the years. Here's what I can remember of awards:

    Underclassman MVP - Cooper Schwalbach

Underclassman Mr. Highlands Football - Nick Bowman & Austin King

Underclassman Offense MVP - Trent Johnson & Grady Kramer

Underclassman Defense MVP - Brycen Huddleston

JV Red Dog Spirit - Casey Greene

JV Red Dog Spirit - Will Salmon

JV Defense MVP - Conner Zell

JV Offense MVP - Colin Hollingworth

JV - Mr. Highlands Football - Adam Weyer & Dylan Turner

Then there were a host of Senior awards. Most seemed interested in returning players so I just listed those. That's all I could remember (apologies if I missed anyone as it is possible). Hope that helps.
