It's listed at Cordia. So it could be at the old hindman gym
Cordia will probably get the gate and concessions, but I believe the game will be played at Knott Central's gym!

Camron Justice 3rd all time leading scorer!

Pikeville
Not True!!!

What about Caudill? He is usually a productive player for Knott?
17 for Caudill

Hearing that Breathitt County beat Cordia in a scrimmage last night
It's true, by 1 point.

Thanks for the clarification :thumb:. For some reason I thought Nelson was a junior last season.
He was, he went "home" after last season and never came back!
-
You're probably right. Perry will be good but to be the region favorite they'll need to get the two big kids from June Buchanan eligible. My guess is Cordia is the top team in the 14th. They've got all their players back from last year with the exception of one starting guard who graduated. They did lose a key player to transfer to North Hardin, but he sat out last year at Cordia and didn't play for them anyway.
They also lost by far their best player Anthony Nelson, 16 points and 5 rebounds a game and had the ball in his hands 90% of the game. They also lost 6'7" Zeke Biallas who average about 3 points and 4 rebounds a game.

In the young man's defense, he would have stayed at Cordia if Coach Rhodes was still there. Also, I can see his logic moving from Ohio County to Apollo, then Apollo to Huntington Prep. I believe if he was still at Huntington we wouldn't be having this conversation. Kid just wants to play somewhere that gives him the most opportunity/exposure, to me there is no harm in that. I hate to say the playing for school pride is almost a thing of the past, as the better kids are now starting to realize AAU is where they get scouted and not high school. I'd hate to see this but the way things are going you may see more prep/club basketball being played than regular high school.
I doubt he would have stayed at Cordia if Rhodes were still there, he was ruled ineligible by the KHSAA! And I'm predicting he won't be eligible at North Hardin either!
Opportunity/exposure are you serious? A player as good as Trace is going be found!

Oddly, no one seems to be trying to find proof.
Your a little too vague to be on a message board Booger, nobody knows what your talking about!
-
Gee, I don't know. Seems like jobs suddenly materialize within school systems (county or private) when athletes transfer in.
Once again what kind of job are you talking about?
-
So, there's a huge difference in what cordia did and giving kids' parents jobs so they will bring there kids to your school?
What kind of job are you talking about?

A fan watching his team playing shouts out let them play when his team is whistled for a foul vs the opponent taking a jump shot, in the next couple of plays the same fan is shouting protect the shooter when his team is on offense.
Recruiting is only wrong to most posters on here when it is the other team benefiting. Recruiting is recruiting it doesn't matter where the players come from. We have private schools here in the Louisville area that are cherry picking the city and surrounding county middle schools, oh but that is alright they are only 8th graders lol!!
This is not even close to what cordia has been and still doing. Let Brown or Portland Christian or some other school in Louisville that never has gone to a State Tournament, start housing, feeding, clothing(all against the rules) an allstar team with players outside the state or country. You'll see have fast the KHSAA steps in and stops "recruiting"!!!

I understand, but that's not why Rhodes was fired. It was for not getting a purchase order.
My post was only suggesting if someone is all about bringing players into their school it would be easier to do at at school such as OBI. Probably over half their sports teams are from outside Clay County, and have been since when I was in high school in the early '70s. They have dorms. They're private. The town of Oneida itself probably doesn't have 50 people but their high school has been as high as 300 in enrollment, although they're down to about 200 now.
I remember our school playing them in the late '70s and most of their team was composed of kids from other places. Their best player was a fellow named Ben Franklin. He was 6'5 and could jump out of the gym and tear the rim off with dunks. They had another player named Caldwell that was 6'6 and another dunker and good scorer and rebounder. They also had a nifty point guard. But they lacked depth and couldn't get past the traditional regional powers.
Players moving into schools has been going on for a long time. Nothing new. I'm just saying it's easier at a boarding schools. If the administration would tolerate it (which they wouldn't. ...OBI is as ethical and by the rules school as any school you'll find in the state) Rhodes would be on cloud 9 in Mountaineer land.
His contract was non-renewed because of insubordination, not a purchase order. And he tried to get OBI a couple years ago and they wanted no part of it!

Sarcasm is your friend
Sorry, this subject keeps me on edge!
-
That seems out of character for Rhodes. :idunno:
Are you kidding? Do you know how many times he has been T'd up and ejected from games? Heck he was ejected and caused a scene by not leaving the gym the last game of this past year! I sure he would have started this coming year with some sort of suspension!
-
There's a new one coming to Tennessee. I haven't heard about one in Kentucky yet.
Cordia!
-
Not from coaching its not. All supplemental positions are one year contracts.
That's what I said in post #29
-
I never said what I "wanted". Only asked a question. If those kids are eligible at Cordia my guess is if they can find a good coach to stay for a couple of years then the players may not leave. I mean, if they transfer now they may have eligibility issues at the next school. Why mess with that when you're ready and legal to play at your present school.
As for your last comment, do you think for one minute that transfers haven't helped other teams win state championships? Cordia isn't the first team with transfers. Taylor County had a couple last year that made hem a state contender. So did Mercer County. And Scott County has had their share over the years too.
NO SCHOOL, NO SCHOOL, has ever done what rod rhodes an cordia have been doing for the last 5 years. cordia had 1 boy on last years team that was actually from the the 14 region area( heck from he state of Kentucky). They had a hand picked all star team!
-
That's true of any job in Kentucky.
That's not true of a teaching job with tenure! Almost impossible to fire a teacher with tenure!
-
I know but what has changed.
Nothing has changed, they are still breaking the same rules!
-
What if Rhodes stays in the neighborhood for just this one year and still comes to the games as a fan and supporter of the players. There's people around the Cordia area that could see that he has a job outside of school somewhere during the year. Then his kids could remain at Cordia for this year, make a run at a regional or maybe state title, and then leave. I know that probably doesn't sound the most ethical route in the world, but is it a possibility?
Any Cordia posters have an opinion on that scenario?
Have you ever been to the cordia area? No jobs!
Do you really want a bunch of players from out of state or country winning the Kentucky State Championship? I don't!
-
Rift with the Principal! Superintendent usually backs their Principal or they are a lame duck!
-
Well I saw the alleged reason why Rhodes was let go on Facebook. Can the rumor be posted here?
UPDATE: Actually it was shared publicly by Rhodes on Facebook.
Doesn't matter the reason, he is just a basketball coach. Basketball coaches have one year contracts, those contracts can be non-renewed at any time with out reason!
-
So why fire him now? What has happened to justify it now as opposed to when Cordia was penalized?
It has nothing to do with basketball!

Probably not fair, but why would you play at the old Hindman gym when the best high school gym in the region is about a mile up the road! The old Hindman gym is not a home court for cordia, yes they play some games there but I don't think they practice there all the time!
