  1. Who ever said Nancy wasn't, I really like Nancy but she retired. For not being an NKU employee you sure know a lot of gossip.

All you have to do to be part of the NKU gossip is walk over into their part of the suite near the basketball offices! lol. The managers are the best sources for news in that part of the building, or over by the laundry room. And SMG employees wear Blue because that is the company's colors, to answer your previous question. We ARE NOT employed by NKU, we are paid by SMG.

  2. What famous sci-fi movie is this from?

"Why, Master Windu. What a pleasant surprise."

"Hardly a surprise, Chancellor. And it will be pleasant for neither of us. We know who you are. What you are. We are here to take you into custody."

"I beg your pardon? What I am? When last I checked, I was Supreme Chancellor of the Republic you are sworn to serve. I hope I misunderstand what you mean by custody, Master Windu. It smacks of treason."

"In the name of the Galactic Republic, you're under arrest."

"Are you threatening me, Master Jedi?"

  3. There was a similar situation two years ago when NKU had two home games scheduled the same week as the 9th region tourney. No games were moved to Regents.

That is correct. But NKU had looked ahead at the possibility, and those were regular season games. This time things are completely different. This is more like 2008-09 when the following happened:

    1) The BOKC had a chance to get the Ringling Brothers/Barnum Bailey Circus for 4-5 nights in a row. To do so, NKU had to either play its final 2 regular season doubleheaders in Regents Hall and have a chance at hosting the women NCAA Women's Tournament in March. Or

    2) Go ahead and play the final 2 regular season doubleheaders in the BOKC and give up the week of the NCAA Women's Tournament. The lady who was the Athletic Director at the time, along with Les Crooks, Ken Ramey and another NKU VP who is no longer there and I can't think of his name, agreed to take the week of the NCAA Women's Tournament.

    3) NKU tried to get one of the GLVC teams to trade home games, they would not, so NKU had to play in Regents Hall. NKU lied to its season ticket holders all summer, then finally fessed up to them AFTER they played U of L in the exhibition. NKU tried to get people to buy up season tickets to go to the U of L game because they paid U of L a HALF MILLION DOLLARS to play in the BOKC. Sadly, the game did not sell out even though a great crowd was there.

    4) That same year, the 9th and 10th region tournaments were both held in the BOKC. Little known fact is NKU was in position to host BOTH GLVC men's and women's tournaments late in season. Due to conflict, they would have been played in Regents Hall due to the buffoonery on NKU's part. I believe the top seeds were to host the GLVC. Luckily for NKU, both their teams lost and they avoided the embarrassment of hosting the GLVC - played at same days s 9th and 10th regions! - in Regents Hall.

This year's escapade seems more like 2008-09 because of the lack of planning. I think it was just a cover-up in 2008-09, coincidentally, all those mentioned are gone, I believe, besides Ramey. There are former NKU coaches and administrators who I have talked to who all verified this story. It was a mess. Scott Eaton also played a role in the U of L exhibition game: His sons were both U of L basketball managers, and Scott convinced the NKU brass to give U of L a HALF MILLION DOLLARS to show up for a exhibition game. Love that taxpayer money going into Pitino's pockets! lol.

  4. I don't see why the SMG and NKU can't work together on scheduling. The conference games are on Thursdays and Saturdays, have other events on Sun. Thru Wed. I was sitting next to NKU woman's recruit sat., and she mentioned how nice the arena was and that it was a factor in her decision. I think coach P would not like it if she lost the BOKC as their home. and we would probably lose an awfully good coach.

You lost an awfully good coach when Nancy Winstel left and replaced her with a woman who is just there until the next job opens up, a stepping stone is all NKU means to Coach P. Coach Winstel won two national championships for NKU and I understand her recruits are the only reason NKU is winning right now.

  5. Kind of like BOKC Wildcat instead of BOKC Norse. LOL Why does BOKC staff wear blue and not black or gold? Don't see that any other college events.

We don't work for NKU, can't you understand that? Also, Coach P. leaving would be of a great benefit to NKU if you ask around their own department. NKU's own staffers cal her Coach Plitzu-Gripe because she is always complaining about something. She is buddies with the AD and the President of NKU is apparently enamored with her. lol.

  6. I'd like to be a fly on the wall for the conversation telling NKU that those teams are getting bumped by the high school tournament(s)!

If the NKU people had done their jobs ahead of time instead of trying to live "One Day at a Time" and assume their teams wouldn't host, it wouldn't be an issue. The funniest scenario is the NKU men would host a A-Sun Tournament game at like 9 a.m. in the morning to avoid conflicts with the 9th region! Can't wait to see the attendance numbers for that game, if it happens! lol.

  7. Do you all realize that the BOKC in NKU's home court. Your dreaming if you think the NKU men will play in Regents. I could see the 9th region girls being moved to Regents, plenty of room for them.

You are incorrect on both counts. If NKU men do get to host the semis, I will assure you they will be playing in Regents Hall or forfeit the right to host as the BOKC is contracted to the 9th region. Sounds like you are a big NKU disciple, you can blame you Athletic Director for this mess up. I am told he did not look at all options and that caused this potential disaster.

I said this last week: Bring in Kenny Shields as NKU Athletic Director to try and stop the bleeding for NKU's sake. Nothing but contempt between NKU's athletic dept. and SMG, and now the high schools will be at NKU's throat because of the people running the athletic program. The NKU President is at fault too, as he knows what is going on and is too busy trying to cover up employees who steal money (see the Jennifer Hilvert situation and his lying on TV!).

Coach Shields would be able to soothe over the hard feelings in the community. The gentleman who they have as AD right now is over his head, heard he ran away from his previous job in Wisconsin because of a scandal there with the men's basketball coach. I am asking around to find out what exactly happened with him in Wisconsin. More later!

  8. To the bolded, the OVC plays their conference tournament at a neutral site. In Nashville for the longest time, although their current agreement is up I believe at Municipal. Not sure if it will be renegotiated or if it will shift to Lexington to Altech Arena. It has not been hosted by an OVC school in over 25 years I would say.

RE: The recruiting advantage. Is that what the Northern Kentucky rumors are, they do not want NKU because of their "recruiting advantage"? Why would they allow teams from Nashville if that were the case? If they could kick out Jacksonville State, it would be a good addition to the OVC (East).

The Ohio Valley Conference told NKU "no thanks" several years ago and is NOT interested in adding them to the league. The fact NKU does not field football was an issue with some presidents, but the other kicker was that NKU could put its athletic money into other sports since it does not have football.

Now, that makes no sense because they let in several other schools without football. I was told they let in the S. Illinois team and Belmont because of how close they are to big markets (Nashville and St. Louis) without football so the OVC could use that for sponsorship potential.

I asked around and found out the Atlantic Sun is in some trouble if Kennesaw State leaves for a football league. They are a associate member right now in a small league for football only, but one of the NKU assistants said the fear is Kennesaw is going to bolt. The coach also said Florida Coast is trying to get out into a bigger league like the Sun Belt or A-10 or Southern Conference. Same with North Florida, they will leave if an offer comes from a league and would leave with Florida Coast.

Maybe the Great Lakes Valley will take back NKU if they go back to Division II. lol.

  9. Found out today there could be MAJOR problems with the 9th region tournament at the BOKC due to NKU's Atlantic Sun Conference. Here is what I was told:

    1. The BOKC is contracted to the 9th region for March 2-9 for boys and girls games.

    2. If both NKU teams earn hosting spots in the A-Sun tournament, things become messy because the first round of men is March 3 - the same night as 9th region doubleheaders!

    3. If NKU men advance to semis and are highest seed left, they would host both semis and finals, March 5th and March 8th. That CAN NOT happen in the BOKC because of the 9th region going on.

    4. The NKU women would host on March 6th in a first round game, and that is a problem and conflict with the 9th region too.

One option is to play the NKU tournament games in Regents Hall to avoid the 9th region conflict. The NKU people not want this, but the may have no choice. They already are playing a women's game in Regents Hall in two weeks, so the facility should be basketball ready - if the mice are gone!

The other option I was allowed to see is so convoluted, it is a nightmare to even think about with all kinds of who plays here, lets play the girls 9th region somewhere else, you name it! It is going to get really interesting because I was told the A-Sun is not particularly strong and anything could happen on the men's side.

The 9th region will be played in the BOKC. NKU? That will get interesting to see who gets first dibs on the arena if there is the conflicts!

What say you, BGP'ers? 9th region or NKU if you have to choose one!:lol2:

  10. I was at the NKU Hall of Fame Induction Lunch today and the 2008 Women's Basketball National Champions were honored and inducted as a team! Great to see many of the ladies after several years!

Coach Nancy Winstel did one of the most remarkable jobs ever that season for NKU as they won the NCAA Division II National Title. Coach Winstel is already in the Hall of Fame as an individual, and her 2000 NKU Team also won the National Championship.

    Great job ladies!

Did they keep attendance today? lol.

  11. They don't require a ticket or student ID for every person entering the venue, free or not? If not, whoever is running that venue is extremely incompetent.

NKU lets so many freebies in, it's insane. The SMG brass can only do so much. I thought there were more students at the game last night than all season, but one of the NKU people said no. The disconnect between NKU and SMG continues!

  12. Would like to hear the attendance #'s, where is BOKC Wildcat?

What last night's attendance did do is reinforce my strong belief NKU women need to play ALL games in Regents Hall, if they can get the mice and other pests under control. Then, NKU and SMG need to get together before the season and pick out the games the NKU men will need more seats and play those in the BOKC.

To not half fill the BOKC last night on Homecoming should send all kinds of red flags to the people running NKU. I really thought there would be more people in attendance. Watch how many people are in the BOKC next weekend for the high school doubleheader, and they don't have $1.00 dollar Beer Night either.

One of the biggest NKU boosters who I will not name said it's because of the style of play, but I disagree. The men scored 40 points in the first half, what do you want? I feel sorry for Coach Beez because you can tell some of those in power positions are gathering to make him the CYA scapegoat. They had a really nice guy for an assistant coach last year named Kurt Young, been there several years. I know this for a fact, Kurt was let go because the Athletic Director needed a scapegoat for their season. I hope they don't do the same to Coach Beez at the end of this season.

  13. Would like to hear the attendance #'s, where is BOKC Wildcat?

The NKU people just estimate the women's crowd when they play a doubleheader, but at one point in the first half there were over 800 fans. With the Chili stuff going on last night, it was a nightmare trying to keep everything in line. They let so many people in on freebies not sure anyone could have kept an accurate attendance figure.

My own eyeball estimate was around 3,200, but the ACTUAL attendance by the SMG brass is 2,917. I saw the figure. The NKU guy then gets the numbers for students (which I understand is a nightmare to calculate) and they add in season tickets that did not show up, players, coaches, media, band, dancers. Like I said, so many freebies got in last night for the Chili cooking it made it impossible for an accurate count.

  14. Would like to hear the attendance #'s, where is BOKC Wildcat?

The ACTUAL attendance was 2,917. Not quite what the BOKC and NKU people had hoped. Not sure why more people were not at the game. It was Homecoming Night and they had a pretty good student turnout, but we were expecting a few more. Then again, the interest level for NKU basketball just is not there. It is too bad because the men had a nice win.

  15. If recent history is any indication, UK (22-0) will have a tough time at Florida (12-10). UK is 2-8 in Gainesville over the past decade.

Lets hope the ending of this trend starts tonight.

Recent history means nothing tonight. Florida lost EVERYBODY from last year, Donovan has lost the Eye of the Tiger in Recruiting, lots of UK fans will be in the stands tonight at UF. A friend of mine and his wife are down there and said as many as 1,000 UK fans will be in attendance, so that will negate the Gator crowd. He said no one down there in Gainesville really cares about basketball now anyway, and their fans are too busy bashing the new head football coach for letting recruits go elsewhere the other day. lol!

  16. The SEC is quickly becoming really bad as no team besides UK shows any ability to be a Top 25 team. Now that does not mean I think UK would not go undefeated playing in another conference, but every time I think a team is going to be the next best in the SEC they do what LSU did and lose at home to somebody like Auburn.

That is not UK's fault the SEC schools don't put as much emphasis on basketball as they do football. UK has blown out Kansas and UCLA on neutral courts, so what do you want? UK would be unbeaten in any conference this year. Ole Miss almost got UK in Rupp Arena, so Ole Miss is better than either Kansas or UCLA yet they are not ranked. Texas A&M nearly beat UK, and I think the Aggies are way better than Kansas or UCLA. Top 25 ranking means nothing, just a popular vote by a bunch of clueless people.

  17. It appears to me as if mice and MOLES named BOKC Wildcat are infesting the Bank of Kentucky Center. You are a mouse for bashing women behind a keyboard, and a MOLE for revealing all this information you probably sneak around getting while on the clock working for SMG.

In other words, if NKU gets an exterminator, hopefully they come over and see you as well, BOKC Wildcat. Sorry to be harsh, but your leaking info to the public learned while on the job for SMG is sinister. First to admit I take it hard when I see women's sports bashed because of attendance, but you take the cake.

Hopefully the exterminator will rid the Bank of Kentucky Center of you, Coach P. and that AD too. Then again, I am a dreamer and an optimist.

One final thought on the Throwback Night in Regents Hall: NKU should honor two of its best known names and while the Dance Team performs Elvis Presley's "Jailhouse Rock" have former NKU employees Scott Eaton and Jennifer Hilvert dance the Texas Two-Step at half court, surrounded by mice. lol!

  18. It appears to me as if mice and MOLES named BOKC Wildcat are infesting the Bank of Kentucky Center. You are a mouse for bashing women behind a keyboard, and a MOLE for revealing all this information you probably sneak around getting while on the clock working for SMG.

My only regret about the women's game in Regents Hall in a couple of weeks is that I can't be there to watch. It will be funny if 3 or 4 mice go running out on the court while a player is shooting free throws! lol. Then the NKU pep band can play 3 Blind Mice without upsetting the refs. lol.
