  1. This game looked sloppy because the ref were to quick to blow the

Whistle for fouls and held balls. It is hard to play defense if the refs won't let you play. I saw bad calls on both sides of the ball but more so on

Holmes' side. It seems every time I go to a Holmes girls BB game they are playing against the refs. There was a charge called on Harris late in the game that wasn't close to a charge. Why does these type of calls continue to happen?

  2. Refing was horrible again tonight. I hope the HC Holmes game gets a different group tomorrow. There were at least 50 fouls called, it really takes away from the game. They should call the obvious fouls and let the girls play. There was a point in the game were holmes was afraid to play defense. That being said, the girls made the adjustment and won the game. Hats off to # 50, they would not have won the game without her contribution, they will need her to get past HC, and in the state tournament if they make it. Coach Perkins needs to stop getting the techs.

Also, can somebody explain to me why he, (coach Perkins), takes his players off the lanes when they are shooting free throws. This makes no sense to me.

  3. Nice win for the Indians. So I'm curious how they did it. What was their "formula"?

Holmes again had a very poor shooting night and numerous unforced turnovers. They would have lost to whatever team they played. Tonight it happen to be HC for the second time. Perkins continues to fell to prepare his team for HC. He was too involved with arguing with the refs and he didn't settle his team down. Holmes again seemed very apprehensive when playing HC. They will need to control their apprehension if they want to have success against HC. Their success will depend on If they play the way they are capable of playing offensively. The defense was not bad tonight and Stovall always brings her A game on defense.

  4. I did answer the tools question. All those teams have the tools I mentioned in the last post. And IMO, those are the reason all those teams can play with Holmes without getting blown out. Now having the tools and knowing the weaknesses doesn't always equal a W for the opposing team. As you pointed out, even with all that on your side, 27 out of 28 times Holmes' strengths were able to overcome any weaknesses. That's why they are good. Not many have been able to expose it at all and if they did, were not able to sustain it long enough to get the win. Thats why I complimented Holmes. I really felt that once teams started hanging with them, figuring some things out and actually getting them down in games, they may crack. But they haven't and I'm impressed with them for that. Things were coming easy in the beginning. Sometimes that's not always good and when you get challenged, things can fall apart very quickly. They didn't let that happen and I'm impressed.

I'm not going to answer the others because I'll be giving away secrets!!! lol![/QUOT

There is no special formula for beating Holmes, the reason all the close games were close is because Holmes was in foul trouble and had to relinquish the press, their bread and butter. I have not seen any team handle the press, I have seen games being called close causing Perkins to have to abandon the press. That is what allows teams to stay close no big secret check the record. If Holmes can avoid foul trouble they will be very hard to beat. Holmes is hurt more by foul trouble due to their style of play!

I think dg21 hit the nail on the head, Camels got punched in the chops the first half and came out and did the punching in the 2nd half. Camels didn't shoot as well as they have all year but a lot of that was due to Holmes defense. If someone would of told me that we would of had 2 wide open looks at the end of regulation to tie it up with the #2 team in the state, I would gladly take that. I thought the Camels did a great job of not allowing Holmes to turn this game into a track meet. Holding Holmes to 54 points is a job in itself and it gave us a chance to win. 3rd quarter saw the Camels breaking the press and getting some easy baskets and open 3's that had us closing the gap. Holmes coach adjusted and didn't even press the entire 4th quarter and went to a 2-3 zone and the Camels turned up their pressure on defense in the 2nd half to cause some turnovers. All this other nonsense is short changing all the girls from both sides of busting their tails in this game. For me it's real simple, more fouls called on Holmes in 1st half because they were the aggressor and had their full court press going. 2nd half was the complete opposite, more fouls on the Camels because they were the aggressor and pressed. I believe a game like this will benefit both teams going into the districts.

Not taking anything away from CCHS girls, the press was stopped due to the number of fouls that were being called, most phantom. The stall was for the same reason. Anytime Holmes played defense they were called for a foul. That is the difference in the foul totals between the first and second half. Perkins could not risk his players fouling out. When you are getting homered to this degree sometimes a stall is the best tactic to take the refs out the game, and it worked.

  6. While not at the game and not interested in the debate about refs, (Capt, do what you got to do). I would like to here about the girls!!! Please somebody on both sides talk about who had outstanding performances both offensively and defensively. I feel like I have read 4pages about the 3 referees, nothing about the 10 to 16 +/- girls that played the game!

Oh, Engelman had a nice game for Holmes!

  7. All your whining and complaining about refs is like beating a dead horse Captain. Take the compliments for a very impressive Holmes team. Too many turnovers and not hitting from the free throw line allowed the Camels to come back. I am sorry but an 8-2 foul advantage is really not much to cry about. I don't know why everyone thinks that foul totals should always end up being equal at the end of a quarter or game. Some teams just play a defense that can allow for more fouls.

I am not complaining about just fouls being called or not called. There was a lot more going on in this game besides foul totals, in terms of poor refing. If you don't like what I am saying you are free to not read it.

  8. I think we got your point...the only reason the Camels came back in this game was due to the refs. Whatever. Let's give the Camels credit for showing their heart and let's give Holmes credit for holding on for the win. This type of post is what makes me want to root against the posters team.

You can root for whoever you want to root for however I am not going to tolerate what I saw tonight out of the REFS.

  9. I asked a fan and got a copy. I informed the fan of the reason for wanting the tape and was able to get a quick turn around. I want the actions of these refs addressed. Again , my posts are not directed at CCHS. However if enough fans complain about the actions of these particular refs there is a good chance they will not be refing any tournament games.

  10. Where do I start...... Ok I'll start with compliments....dg21 your daughter is a very nice player and Holmes has a very good at

hletic team... Lady Camels are the Rodney Dangerfield of girls NKY basketball, they just get no respect.... To insinuate that Holmes was cheated is an absolute joke. Maybe your mad because you came in expecting to win by 80.. It didn't happen, you won by 4. Take your victory humbly and move on. Holmes full court pressed the entire 1st half, Camels did not press the 1st half. They called 3 more fouls on the Bulldogs than us. 2nd half they called 4 more fouls on the Camels. Bulldogs missed a lot of layups and point blank shots, could the score of been worse? Sure could of but it wasn't. Camels got 2 open looks for 3's at the end to tie it up but couldn't get it to fall. Could the outcome of been different? Sure could of but it didn't happen. I don't see any Camel faithful cryin

g cheating when our girls are dribbling up the court and get knocked to the ground and no foul is called. The fouls were 15-14 in favor of Holmes. You have a nice athletic team who has had a great year and you bring this garbage to the table. Seems like not many opponents want to give the Camels any credit for the year they are having. Joke. Nice job lady Camels polish up for districts. You've earned everything this year from hard work and team basketball.

I have not said one negative thing about the CCHS Girls basketball team, but I am calling out the refs they deserve everything I have said about them. If you want to defend them that's on you however as I said before I don't like seeing any team being cheated it takes away from the game. You should be as annoyed by this as I am if you promote fair play for all the girls. I did not see that tonight and I am appalled at the refs actions. I don't think it was a poorly called game I think it was intentional and should not be tolerated. If you have access to a video of the game get it watch it and then tell me what you think. The refs performance was even worse when I watched the game and was able to replay the calls. I am telling you it was diplorable.

  11. Why do you guys have to degrade the camels effort? They played well enough to lose by 4 to the #2 team in the state and all you can say is that they were that close because the refs cheated. That is ridiculous. Maybe the camels are just a pretty good team. Not saying they are better than Holmes, but at least give them an ounce of credit, because none of you are.

I am not degrading their effort but apparently the refs thought they needed some help; and they were not short on giving it to them. It really pales the effort made by the camels due to the many extra opportunities. I can not determine the caliber team the camels have from that performance . Honestly I think it would have been a blow out played in any neutral arena. However I could be wrong maybe they are a good team. I would not be bragging about a narrow margin loss when the game was so slanted in favor of the camels. . I am not blaming the girls of CCHS I am just saying they had a lot of ( probably) unwanted help

  12. The only thing Holmes was cheated on was their conditioning. They were bending over, begging to come out of the game in the fourth quarter. That's when their coach ran like a chicken, stalled for three minutes and went to a 2-3 zone praying to escape with a W.

That's funny everyone knows Holmes is one of the most well conditioned teams in northern Kentucky . Just ask any of the 30 teams they beat including the Camels. By the way what is the Camel record? You asked for it!!!

  13. I'm with anyone that is a Bulldog fan!!! But the refs may have missed calls but they didn't turn the ball over or miss any layups! And you won't see any of their names in the box score for the Camels!

I agree cheating refs don't show up in the box scores that does not mean they didn't cheat. There were missed lay ups and turn overs on both sides of the ball and Holmes won so they must of had less turnovers and missed lay ups. When you throw in the cheating refs in the mix and I would have to say Holmes did very well,
