  1. My only real criticisms with the bracket are:

    1. IU is at worst a 4 seed. To give them a 5 is a joke.

    2. How in the world did Tulsa get in? They're a really poor basketball team.

    3. The regions just seemed out of whack. KU as the #1 overall seed should be in Chicago and the Midwest, right?

    4. Texas A&M as a 3 seed. That's saying the committee thinks A&M is one of the best 12 teams in the country, which makes me wonder if they were drunk making the brackets..

This may be wrong but I think Louisville is closer to Lawrence than Chicago? If so it isn't much.

  2. As I was looking over the Sweet 16 bracket, I was struck by how many teams have impact players who have transferred into the schools who will be at Rupp next week. Just going in order of the games played:

Buckhorn (Don't know of any but not well educated on Buckhorn)

Murray - Zach Flener (formerly of West Jessamine. Transferred when his dad got a position in the district)

Trinity (no idea but probably a safe assumption there are several transfers on their roster.

Newport Central Catholic (ditto for Trinity above)

Bowling Green - Thomas Booker (moved in before this season)

Elliot County (Don't know of any but not well educated on Elliott)

Dunbar - Taveion Hollingsworth (moved from Bryan Station district before high school) Believe Dontell Brown did also but don't know that for sure.

Mercer County - Malik Dow (Moved from Ballard to Mercer before last season)

Dylan James (Moved from Sheldon Clark before season started when his dad got a job in the district)

Lawrence County - Dalton brothers moved over from West Virginia a couple of years ago.

Doss - Have several transfers (both into and out of the program for the last year)

South Laurel - Caleb Taylor (from small school before last season)

Christian County - Jaylen Sebree (from UHA before this season)

Mason County (Don't know of any but not well educated on Mason)

Taylor County - David Sloan (Moved with Coach Gatewood 2 years ago). Dylan Gaines (moved from Warren East before the season)

South Oldham/Owensboro Catholic (know nothing about either team)

My point being, at least 9 of the 16 teams have impact players who are transfers into their school over the last 1-3 year period.

At this point, do you think this is a trend that will inevitably continue? Who is to blame for all of these transfers? Parents? Coaches recruiting? Kids wanting to play with friends? Evil AAU coaches?

Or am I just crazy and this season is an outlier?

Hopefully this can bring some good discussion.

Dalton Brothers have been at Lawrence Co. before high school.

  3. TheLevisaLazer.com - ALAN SHORT IS NEW HEAD BULLDOG FOOTBALL COACH

Louisa, Ky. -- Lawrence Co. will be under new leadership in the 2016 football season after Joey Cecil stepped down in February. Former Bulldog great Alan Short will take over a team that is coming off a great run the past couple years but lost 17 starters from a 9-4 team that lost in the Regional Championship to eventual state champion Belfry.

Short will be the 11th Head Coach in school history. First Head coach since 1985 to play and be a Louisa native.

Coach Short played at LC from 1996-1999 and was a record setting QB. He went on to Cambellsville University from 2001-2004 and was a three year starter and also a two year team captain. He is also the Track Coach at Lawrence Co.

Jacob Wellman getting in some offseason weight lifting. Jacob Wellman getting in some offseason weight lifting. Coach Short is already working hard on the job, getting ready for next year and the Dawgs have around 50 kids participating in the weight program not including basketball and baseball players.

Short said he will call the plays just as he has done the last 5 years and rely on his staff to help put things together. He also implicated the football staff will remain the same as last year..

"Don't expect much of a turnover as far as coaches go," Short said.

"We want to stay consistent, we will have competition at every spot this season because we lost 9 starters on offense and 8 on defense."

""This program means a lot to me and outside of my family I have been influenced by so many football friends including Chuke Williams, Coach Cecil, Billy Reed, Eddie Dixon, Micheal Copley, Phil Ratliff, Walter Pigmon and so many others that I have learned from, " Short said. "I only wanted the job if I felt like I earned it, I didn't want anything handed to me."

"I want to thank Dr. Fletcher, Christy Moore and Travis Feltner for hiring me"

Lawrence Co. won't change much on offense, probably won't throw it as much as last year. "From the kids that I have talked to they all seem excited with the hire," Short said.

Coach Short, 34, is the district home bound teacher and his wife, Chelsee is also a teacher in the county and the couple has one child, 5 month old daughter, Ellouise.
