  1. Owensboro Catholic defeated Daviess County and College View defeated Henderson North in 8th grade boys conference tournament and will play championship game Thursday night. North had a 37-35 lead with 20 seconds left and College View missed first three but got a long rebound and kid hits a deep corner three at the buzzer to win 38-37.

  2. Henderson South 7th grade boys won state tournament with a 47-46 victory over

North Laurel. North Laurel had won 88 straight dating back to last year when they won the state 6th grade state tournament last tear. South overcame a 16 point deficit with 4:30 to play, amazing come back.

  3. Another stunning defeat for Henderson North tonight, massacre by Owensboro Catholic 61-43. North had won two previos games this year inc a 10 point victory last weekend in the Bulldog Classic Tourament. Interesting that OC had three refs for the game, a little unusual for middle school games.

  4. Union County beats Trigg County 4-1 to advance to it’s third straight regional final and will face Christian County who beat Henderson County 4-3. Christian looking for revenge as Union has outed the Colonels the past three seasons in the region. Union Coach Chad Robison threw Davis Corbett who had only thrown 14-15 innings all season and he no-hit Trigg for the victory.

Has to be a disappointing season for Henderson, with a veteran senior class of 8, five of whom have signed to play at the next level and a junior class of 10, several who will play at the next level. Henderson, one of the largest schools in the state, always loaded with talent. Regional final tomorrow at 6:30.

  5. Strong showing by the Colonels for first win in this early season. There are good reasons why this team is considered one of the heavy favorites in the region and got votes for top 20 in the state by the first Coaches poll. A veteran team with 7 seniors and a loaded junior class of eight, not to mention couple of the best sophomores in the region and a very good freshman who hit one out of the park today. Five of the 7 seniors have already signed to play at the next level. To say this is a loaded team would be an understatement.

  6. Because I don't like the way these guys are trying to torpedo the KHSAA and infringe on the KHSAA's authority with the way they chose to name this tournament. It's an underhanded move. Think about if this was a football tournament...how would the folks over in Danville feel after winning the actual 2A state championship title if there was another football team going around and bragging on how they had won "the Kentucky 2A Championship"?

I realize the sports this tournament is going for don't have KHSAA divisions that split them into 1A, 2A and so on, but I have zero doubt in my mind that these folks named their tournament very intentionally to have the sound of being an official, real-deal state championship in those sports being served by their tournament organization - which also designedly incorporates all of the major sports that only have one single KHSAA state title.

Suppose the KHSAA does decide to expand the state soccer tournament to have two divisions someday. Then if they try to stick with their standard 1A/2A division format, they could find themselves in a trademark battle with these folks. No doubt that was a 100% intentional move on the part of the folks putting on this tournament. That's a subversive, slime-ball move. And that's why I said what I said.

Of course you have your view of this and the points you make are well taken but why call people names, probably people you don't know and never met? I do know a couple of these men and their intent is and was good. I assume they had a lot of support or it would not have been done. They are not slime balls. That's just my opinion and I would say the opinion of many. Anyway, Thanks for your reply and have a great evening.
