  1. The 1st/2nd team match was fun to watch. The boys did seem to have a great time and many of the kids (on both squads) knew each other from club, high school and/or ODP so there seemed to be a good deal of friendly conversation among the kids. My son commented after the game that it was just as much fun to catch up with some of his old soccer friends as it was to play the match. Absolutely no trash talking, no questionable challenges and just good, clean, skillful play. Quite a refreshing change after watching several high school matches this fall that did not have the same characteristics.

Cooper's coach was one of the coaches and several N KY players participated and played well.

  2. I never realized that. Knowing this now makes me look at this all-state list entirely different. If your an 'all-state' list then it should include 'all' schools regardless. I think they should be a little embarrassed by leaving off the Scott kids and in my opinion minimizes their list.

I don't disagree with you but to be nominated their coach needs to be a member. Surely the coach or his booster group could have ponied up $35 to join. I am sure there may be other glaring omissions from the all-state list but the team has been selected this way by the coaches association for years.

  3. Not seeing one player from Scott when they're in the state final is non sense. IMO Treadway, Schneider, Morgan and the goalie Seay should be on that list. That's just pathetic.

That means that their coach is either not a member of the state high school soccer coaches association or he did not submit nominations for his team. Only dues paying members of the association can nominate their players and vote. I believe the dues are only $35 per year.

  4. Dunbar had so many missed opportunities, easily could have gone the other way had they landed.

Very true. Three great chances in first half, including an empty net chance that sailed over the bar and a one v one that should have been finished. Credit to BG though for keeping their composure and getting the victory.

  5. I concur completely with all of the kind things previously stated about Robert Lilly. He is a fine young man and I hate to hear that he was unable to play last night. He is well respected by his club and high school teammates and I cannot help but believe his on field presence would have had a positive impact. It may have not changed the outcome of the match, but he would have lead by example with high effort and skillful play.

  6. Dunbar wins 2-1. Hard fought match by both teams. Ueland played for HC but his ankle injury limited his effectiveness. Dunbar's back line was the difference. Lewis, Morgan,Whitt and Sheroan played solid defense. Norris moved to the back line for the final 20 minutes to help lock down the Dunbar defense.

  7. The field is by the Madison County Head Start building. I believe it used to be used by Madison Central before their turf facility was built for the high school. I do not think Madison Central played at this site for their regular season matches this year. I understand that their turf field is not wide enough to comply with KHSAA standards. This field cannot be much wider than the turf facility.

  8. Thomas Ueland (Notre Dame commit) did not play in HC's semifinal match against Madison Central. He suffered an ankle injury Monday night during HC's quarterfinal match.

If Ueland is healthy and able to play most of the match, I will go with HC by 1. Otherwise, Dunbar wins by 1.

The match will be hosted by Madison Central on a grass field that is not in good condition. The field has a severe slope on the side closest to the fan seating area and the quality of the surface has worsened as matches have been played this week. It is unfortunate that a match of this caliber cannot be played on one of the many quality turf surfaces in Central Kentucky.

  9. Yes. Dunbar played well tonight. Clemente had a hat trick before the end of the first half and Dunbar's back line rarely allowed TC to penetrate for opportunities.

I still believe Tates Creek could shake things up at the 11th region tournament. They have speed at every position and Edwin Garcia is as good at finishing as anyone in the state.

  10. Dunbar controlled the match. Lafayette did have a couple of opportunities but Dunbar had a multitude of chances but could simply not finish. Clemente and Norris hit the crossbar with chances and several balls crossed into the box which should have been finished were not.

Dunbar won on a PK early in OT. The foul in the box was legitimate but it was an awful way for Lafayette's season to end. They had a nice game plan that almost worked.

  11. Henry Clay wins 2-1.

Colin Rose scored on a perfectly placed free kick midway through the first half to give Henry Clay a 1-0 lead. Dunbar's keeper simply dropped an easy ball which allowed a tap in for Henry Clay's second goal late in the first half. Probably the easiest goal Henry Clay will score all year.

Dunbar scored on a nice free kick by Tyler Joy-Brandon with about 18 minutes left in the second half. Luke Norris created several opportunities for Dunbar late in the match but Dunbar was unable to finish. Ricky Clemente was not as sharp as usual tonight. Henry Clay's back line had a lot to do with Clemente's below par play.

The match was well played with the one unfortunate exception of the keeper error by Dunbar that allowed the second Henry Clay goal. I will be surprised if these two teams do not face each other again in the 11th region tournament.

  12. The match will be played at Dunbar but I believe Henry Clay's back line and depth will be the difference. I'll say Blue Devils win 2-1.

I doubt either coach will show their entire hand tonight since it is possible that these teams will face each other in a few weeks at the region 11 tournament. These teams know each other well as they are both loaded with club players who play together year round.

Thomas Ueland is Henry Clay's best player. He committed to Notre Dame earlier this year. Henry Clay has a boat load of talented kids. Jevic Bosele and Colin Rose very strong at midfield and Logan Cox and Chris Hunt are very good defenders.

Ricky Clemente is having another good goal scoring year for Dunbar. Although Dunbar does not publish their individual player stats, I understand that Clemente has at least 15 goals so far this season. Alex Lewis, Luke Norris, Tyler Joy-Brandon and Conner Roberts have also been very effective.
